I find Rob to be legitimately one of the most unique and interest antagonists I've ever seen in any media. He's the kind of character that cannot exist in any other show, which is astounding. When I was watching this show while airing, I knew of him and I thought "When is this background character going to have an episode" and then he became the MAIN VILLAIN. That will forever hold a special place in my heart. The fact that I followed this character's journey and was almost a part of it.

Exactly! Rob is so fascinating, and I love how they did his development. He, undoubtedly, IS the antagonist, but he’s not a bad person. Rob is a kid, who ultimately goes down a path of insecurity and feeling lost after he’s mutilated beyond anyone’s control and thrown into a world that doesn’t remember or care about him. Really, his only option is to become evil. And yet, in these episodes, we see small moments that make him more humanized. He has mannerisms that make him unique and relatable, and when it comes down to it, Rob is genuinely kind-hearted. That’s a favorite part of this, honestly. Whenever Rob does good things, he still gets punished for it. There’s no reason for him to actually care because the universe will punish him for it regardless… But he still does anyways, because Rob is a kid in a town that he loves and he wants to save people, even if all he’s known as is the scary bad guy. I’m getting way too deep into cartoon characters, but it’s all very profound to me. Rob is one of those characters that you just won’t get anywhere else.

I ABSOLUTELY love Gumball and the ways it's special from other shows, especially the charisma and fourth-wall-breaking

I love Gumball's lore, I love how some characters are aware that the world they are in isn't real. Plus the void is fucking scary but also really cool at the same time, I can't wait to see how the characters will save the world while it literally consumes it. Well if Warner actually grows a brain and decides to leave the gumball movie alone In conclusion Gumball's lore is badass

I remember from one episode where Rob kidnaps Banana Barbara to paint him the future, during the ending theres a painting of the whole watterson family in the void, and i really hope that'll happen soon.

Truth

Gumball is the perfect mix of retro and modern comedy. It's one of the few things I point to when people think older fans can't enjoy new shows that kids like.

These episodes are gorgeous: Exploit almost all character development made untill and does it acknowledge their cartoon nature incredibly.

I really think Rob is one if the best cartoon villains ever. He went to a background character that no one talked about then him getting some screen time in The Pony then he evolved into this character that just wants respect. I really hope in The Gumball movie and the new season Rob is in a major part of it

What I always loved about "The Rerun" was that dramatic scene of Gumball screaming at Rob after he temporarily has Darwin (along with Anais) killed. It made me wish there were more serious episodes in the series that are well written and maybe not stories like "The Hero" and "The Inquisition."

The way the creators develop their characters and creations is pretty insane and wonderful. Rob went from a minor background character to a villainous fan favorite and also becoming the first rivalry of Gumball, And Molly and Terry had more major roles and has more speaking lines and screen time than ever and the same goes to some of the each minor characters through the show. Ever since the void started to erupt, They made everyone kinda have a lot of more attention and personality in terms of this. Great video as always! Love the Character Developments in this show

It's incredible how they even make Gumball and Darwin more fleshed out in relationships: Gumball and Darwin aren't simply a "bros against the world and is it" thing: they stand to each other for real, but nor just because they are brothers but because they really care. Same with Anais, Nicole and Richard: they genuinely like themselves in a non-flat way, almost every episode when they appear, they developed theirs relationship, even those who seam not by focusing in other things, like "The Game" Tobias don't have a sister, though. Why you would think he have? I don't know, there's anything about fan fictions like that. Nevermind.

darwin literally DYING in front of gumball who's unable to save him is genuinely disturbing to think about.

The use of the remote as a meta narrative was so well done.

This episode still to this day gave me goosebumps just by seeing how rob literally made it work as a major threat to gumball after ruining his life at first. This is why rob in my opinion, is like the THANOS of the show but in a much controversial way, he reminds me of bill cypher from gravity falls when “( Reality is an illusion, and the universe is a hologram by gold )” this really makes me wonder if the next season will probably pick up after what happened when Rob fell into the Void or it’ll probably be different as a different time twist to be renewed

Gumball has certainly come a long way, hasn’t it? Can’t wait to see what Ben and his crew have in store for season seven. So excited!

I don't think I've ever seen a show take a background character and turn them into a main character like how Gumball does it. I really want to know how the writers came up with this idea. Like was this planned or did it just happen? I also find it ironic how Rob is forgettable in the show, but is a character that every fan knows about and is able to remember

Gumball is incredible stoic sometimes and this is as funny as it can.

Darwin regressing in The Rerun is terrifying, you see him literally die in front of Gumball's eyes due to what seemed to be suffocation, it's genuinely freaky.

There's a bit of irony for me here since Cartoon Network was airing Those two episodes today. Still 2 of the best episodes of The Amazing World of Gumball

i would LOVE the new season having more lore based on gumball's friends, like they going away (since the last episode from S6 shows the void) and then SUDDENLY the last episode being the lost episode.. the grieving extremely good lore that would make me watch it all over and over

I have to say. Sometimes I wonder what the Awesome Store owner looks like and how the heck is he getting all of those stuffs

I think they did that on purpose. They took his original voice and changed it to fit a stereotype, just like everyone else in the show.

Gumball changed his voice because when rob tried to use a British accent originally gumball said it sounded like a strangled cat (his words not mine)so changed it to make him sound more evil. I just prefer robs original voice more

Next to The Hug these are my two favorite episodes of Gumball. I'm very curious to see what this secret finale is that you have in mind. I bet one way or another it'll be awesome.

This is why gumball always has to be in a situation where it comes to not knowing who he might run into to change his ways in Elmore junior high.

I love this show so much, Rob has to be my third favourite character (and for majority of shows I watch I don't love any character more than I do a large portion of Gumball characters)

I kinda wish Rob was remembered by Gumball and Darwin so this whole mess wouldn’t happen in the first place. Is it me, or does absolutely EVERYONE want this to happen?

Gumball effectively erasing his family begs an interesting philosophical question: Is it better to have your life ruined permanently or erased entirely? What constitutes "better" in this scenario? Is this question a "lesser of two evils" matter?

That's what I was thinking too. This is still a universe set in a show, of course the main character is going to have a dramatic fight scene even if it's not logical lol

I love the fact that the remote is a Charter remote, it makes the gimmick extra funny to me every time.

I still think that the van shopkeeper is the one pulling the strings around elmore.

I love how rab feels like an actual character. Rub's actions actually make sense and despite being in a cartoon it feels like he could be in any other series for older audiences I love the whole idea of "these things were not needed for gumball, so they're forgotten in the void of trash", that gives it a curtain creepiness and kind of gives off omori lol

12:30 What’s interesting is, Darwin didn’t disappear from the timeline like Anais, he just died. If Nicole and Richard never had kids, Darwin would still exist since he was adopted, but he wouldn’t have grown lungs, legs, and arms. Obviously, a fish can’t survive out there, and he dies.

For those who need an anime reference to understand this, this is similar to Might Guy and Kisame's rivalry, where Might Guy never remembered Kisame's name until his glorious death

if anyone is interested in why that angry beaver ending episode was never produced its because nick will not let any of their shows make a ending episode

Rob isn’t a villain he tried to help gum ball but they didn’t listen to him

I wondered why they didn’t fast forward their parents back to the right age, but it makes sense that Gumball did not think of this

These episodes was a huge inspiration for my animation and film projects, so that makes them my favorite episodes of Gumball.

This ep shock me. So well written.

With another season on the way it might be too soon to be naming a favorite episode

To answer your question about the time line maybe the universal remote worked differently because the gate was not shut down properly so aspects of the real world came into the void and affected it leading to the reversing of void objects

This is one of Best rivalries that Cartoon Network produced.

14:13 - If I had to take a guess, he would either take his past place in THIS episode, or be a "new" character in the background of a past episode, like how Rob was probably witnessing the flashback in "The Nobody" instead of the original events in "The Void". Or who knows, maybe he didn't have the remote with him at the start of the re-run because he wasn't actually holding it, he just pressed the rewind button.

This 2-Parter reminded me of Infinity War and Endgame

I feel like The Venture Bros crafted rivalry better. I mean in the world of that show arcing good guys is more of a job rather than actually doing out of purely being a bad guy.

I agree about those 2 episodes being epic, my one issue is, if Rob couldn’t use the remote to send Gumball into the Void because the batteries were dead, how did Gumball use said remote to rewind time if no one replaced the batteries? Did the Void itself recharge them? I’m both curious and confused
