The disaster/rerun please I love that episode
The fact she doesn't step on the grass may be symbolic for the paths she could have taken. But in the end, she went off the path and met Richard.
I just love how on that day, Nicole fell in love with the one person who looks like he wouldn't be going anywhere, and Richard fell in love with the very first friend he's ever made Two depressing childhoods made fate bring them together forever ❤️

This has to be the objective best episode of Gumball. From an emotional and character driven standpoint, this episode is a masterpiece. Not to mention its pretty funny. Not my favorite episode, but “The Choices” is an objective masterclass in animation.

Excuse me? What about… “THEN HURRY UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.” 😂😂😂
At first Nicole and Richard seem to be your average Strict Angry Mother and Goofy Childish Father in a Cartoon Family. However, this episode showed that their relationship is so much more than meets the eye. Despite their differences, they love eachother , and were happy to be with each other during their rough childhoods. They have to be one of the best written couples in Cartoon history.

the creators could have just left the dynamic of this family like that, a house of goofballs raised by a overworked mother. but they somehow managed to turn that into a family that I do not have the heart to change anything about
It's such an important lesson. There really is a major difference between living in a bad time, and living a bad life. It's the same thing I told my friend, just a month before he was planning suicide. I'm hoping this lesson can reach out to others the way it reached to him so well. Phenomenal episode.
Have you ever noticed that Gumball and Penny are meant to be a more stable version of Nicole and Richard’s relationship?
Something I just noticed is that this show did the "annoying kid constantly asking "Why?" trope" very well. How people usually play this trope is that the kid simply keeps asking "Why" either until it stops making sense to ask it or until the adult (or annoyed person in question) just stops paying attention. Here Richard keeps asking "Why?" either because he doesn't understand her situation or her reasons basically don't amount to anything than a "Because" in return until she gives an answer with any amount of substance (aside from the fact that she's late but details). It's very childlike yet strangely mature.
This is one of my all time favorite episodes! seeing all the flashbacks of Nicole as a kid and getting to see what her parents were like, in fact when i saw Nicole's dad i was like-"Well, now we know where Nicole gets her anger issues from." and all the alternate choices that Nicole made at how her life would've been different were kinda funny at least the parts where she married Banana Bob and Harold, but when she met Richard it was so adorable and wholesome and the life and memories that they built together, oh it was all just heartwarming and beautiful!!!

So basically choice 1 makes her become what her parents want but she’s alone, choice 2 makes her go insane, choice 3 makes her go into a toxic relationship that makes her insane? Yeah Richard doesn’t seem that bad

A change of choice 1, Nicole marries Yuki, there fixed it.
This episode really complements the earlier episode in which school counselors took one of Anais' drawings as a negative thing and forced everyone in their family to change, until she clarified that _she loves her family just the way they are._ After all, _home is where the heart resides._
There are moments in the show that when she is stressed and he cheers her up which makes me smile. This is not a typical silly dad angry mom trope. Their circumstances brought them together, but she found someone who can let her be herself while also keeping her a bit more balanced.
To me the ending of this episode is the best part, It shows all the things Nicole and Richard been through over the years, It's just so emotional nice, And their definitely a much better couple and parents than Peter & Lois and Beth & Jerry.
It’s an incredibly great episode. As a kid, I always wondered from the very first episode of Gumball why Nicole would choose Richard, which would puzzle me more so as I watched more episodes in season one when I was a kid. Then, I grew up learning about the nuances of people’s preferences of life, whether choosing a certain person or career. This episode highlights what Nicole valued most in life and what she saw in Richard that drew her to him. An amazing perspective of romantic preference simply, yet perfectly portrayed in a children’s cartoon
This is the episode that makes you think about life, and then you just start to cry because of how emotional it is.
This episode makes me genuinely tear up every time I watch it. It's genuinely beautiful and no one can convince me im being dramatic.
Best episode in the show, no contest. The Shell may be touching and The Faith may be uplifting, but this episode manages to portray a couple's struggles better than any other animated show I've ever seen. Early on in the show, you wonder why Nicole puts up with all of Richard's antics. They seem like just your run-of-the-mill sitcom couples (Dopey Dad, Logical Mom). However, this episode paints a clear picture as to why Nicole hasn't left Richard and it's the best representation of an animated married couple since Up and Bob's Burgers. More kids shows need to have episodes like this. Not every cartoon needs to have serious arcs or season long mysteries. Sometimes, slice of life is all you need.

It was basically a what if episode and makes you wonder where you'd be if you did things differently but then realize that maybe things happen for a reason. I really love this episode for that thought!
This episode still gives me so many emotions years later 😭
When I saw this episode it almost made me cry cus it reminds me of how I met my husband and our life together so far. My husband and I met through Facebook through an acquaintance with a common an interest. After a long time of talking and video chatting, etc, etc, we finally met in person thanks to the help of some of his friends he worked with. Which eventually lead to him moving to my state to live with me (I was still living with my mom at the time) and then we eventually moved to his state to live together in our own apartment. It's been such a wild ride together and while there are bumps we are always happy to have each other at the end of the day. He's my best friend at this point and someone I couldn't live without and someday we both hope to grow our family.
Nicole and Richard show that the hot badass wife/fat lazy dad dynamic doesn't have to be a dysfunctional couple and they can actually love each other
I kinda wonder what would’ve happened if Nicole met Richard after the tournament. Maybe Richard would end up becoming a world leader by accident

and he would destroy the world and alter the universe
Definitely the most wholesome episode of the show! That and the episode where Nicole forgives her parents.
One of my favorite episodes of Gumball. That montage at the end warms my heart every time.
My favorite part of the episode, the bit that I wouldn't stop talking about even though no one I knew gave a crap, is that they show (in a series marketed to kids!) Nicole learning she's pregnant _before_ getting married. So many children are "whoopsies"/ were born less than 9 months after their parents anniversary/ etc. but for some reason we can never talk about that in children's media. I love it. (It also has the added benefit of showing how much a parent can love a child planned or otherwise.) Edit: Oh and of course 8:22 makes me laugh every time.
There will never be enough happy love stories in media, especially kids media.
The Choices will always be one of the Best Gumball Episodes. You’re a great genius Alpha Jay! Never forget that!
I REMEMBER CRYING when they showed them learning that nicole was pregnant to gumball and then his first steps darwin and that entire flashback sequence had me in tears
I would understand for the fact why this had to be the last episode. The ending is very amazing. Great video Jay 👍
I find other episodes funnier, but in every other way, this episode was the best this show had to offer
This episode tell that Nichole and Richard were meant to be and any other choice that Nichole would've made wouldn't have been so good then the one she've landed on.
And! The beautiful piano melody in the middle of the episode. Love, love, love that song!
If I had it my way, I was honestly ok with having it be the finale of the show. It would have been a perfect fit.
Knowing all she went through and how she STAYS competitive, this really makes that episode where she's inept with technology make no sense. CLEARLY she'd have still tried to be better than most of the people in her office [and maybe learn some lesson about that]
I always get chills when I watch this episode, especially the ending montage of Nicole and Richard. In the end I think the overall lesson to take away is everything happens for a reason and if you waist your life wondering "what if I did this differently, or said the right thing" you'll never get to enjoy living, so much so that you'll grow up and become either a successful monster like Nicole if she went to the Karate Tournament, or just a depressed, lonely person wondering where there life went by the time they reach 40 or 50. A truly philosophical episode indeed
I agree with you. This really is an amazing and heartwarming episode and you did a fantastic job covering it! Great video 🐼🐼🐼
This is probably my favorite. In part because it brought a tear to my eye, but also because we got to see nicole conquer the world.
This episode has continued to grow on me over the years as I’ve grown and my life has followed a similar path to this cartoon family. In a very eerie fashion my wife and I were drawn to one another when our families rejected our relationship and we’ve had to rely on each other. Everything else is tracking pretty accurately. The music from this episode is a masterpiece and the scenario and story it tells has been so impactful I think of it often when I hold my son in my arms. It sounds silly but I never knew you could make a family work on a shoestring budget as how I was raised led me to believe it was near impossible to create a healthy home without a long period of extreme frugality or support from family. I love my wife dearly and I never would have leapt into the abyss to attempt my wonderful life I have found with her if this exact episode didn’t inspire me to believe it could be done.
Teaching kids the lesson that life not being "perfect" is a far cry from being "bad," is an important one.
“Maybe start living it?” i’ve never heard a line from a childrens cartoon that has impacted me more. The writers are amazing.
This is one of my favorite episodes of the show! I’m so happy you’re covering this.
I wish we had a episode about nicholes parets and kids trying to get along.
The ending of this darn episode never fails to make me bawl. I'm a mess now.
they made me cry like a baby over some heartwarming life lessons in 10 minutes, this show is a fucking masterpiece and will never ever leave my heart
8:28 look at Nicole's eye it's an amazing detail to show that she's had enough 😂
"also you don't have to play that clip anymore." "Or can you?"
Cutest episode ever. Shows you what it means to have a family and how choices can affect where you end up. Also that richard was always there for her and the kids.
The smart wife and lazy husband done right. They show Richard being a good supportive dad who balanced out Nichole. Peter Griffin is too abusive and Lois is selfish
This episode reminds me of a Steven Universe episode where Garnet gives temporary future vision to steven and he gets to see te consequenses of his choices
My absolute favourite episode of Gumball without question
The episode is so heartwarming that it literally made me start crying, ON MY FIRST AND SECOND TIME SEEING IT.
This episode was something else and I love it!

Uh,that's not his ex lol, that's Nicole's childhood friend.
After watching this video, the episode reminds of the story of Everything Everywhere, all at once. Both finding out and thinking about all the different futures someone could have had. And then choosing a path not because you where successful, but you liked the people of that future.
Her having a f because she is female is utterly ridiculous but terribly perfect because of the kind of parents and people they are
Easily one of my favorite Gumball episodes. Nicole and Richard's marriage is far from perfect and has seen quite the hardships, but they've always managed to stick together. true love travels on a gravel road.
The Amazing World of Gumball is very heartwarming and has so many emotional moments
I'm glad you still making the amazing world of gumball content videos!!
10:45 this kinda hits hard.. never thought that a Gumball episode would get me thinking like this
I'm pretty sure, at least at one point, this episode was the highest rated TAWOG episode on IMDb, and it deserves it 100%. It's not my personal favorite but it's in, at the very least, my top 10.
The movie Everything Everywhere All At Once encapsulates what this Gumball episode handles perfectly. Nicole and Evelyn are way similar, seeing as how Nicole is modeled as a Asian perfectionist and such.
Banana bob I kind of feel sorry for since it seems like he isn’t doing it on purpose, and sounds concerned for Nicole when she snaps
You should make a video on either The Kids or The Procrastinators. The Kids is just straight up and iconic episode which I still rewatch from time to time, and The Procrastinators is just straight up my favorite episode in the whole goddamn show.

One of my favorite moments of them is when Yuki was trying to flirt with Richard and she said “what is a man like you doing with a woman like her” and he said “I don’t think she knows she could do better” it’s very cute to me
