Stephen, the guitar player was my cousin. He started out as a drummer and was unbelievable! Effortless. He always dabbled on guitar but played a lot more when he went to music college. I’ve been playing guitar almost 30 years, and he used to blow me away with some of the chord progressions he came up with. Both lads so talented and taken from us way too soon. Dude Stephen's chords continue to blow my mind to this day. Trying to piece out what exactly he was playing by ear always gives me such a refreshing take on the instrument, and the way he incorporated those wonky chords and progressions into the genre is unparalleled. Seriously the dude was a genius. His spirit continues to live on through his art. So sorry for your loss and RIP to a beautiful soul.

Audun Laading (the Bassist) is actually the reason I picked up bass. I was having a quarter life crisis at the age of 23 and really wanted to pick up an instrument in my spare time. I was torn between bass and guitar. One the one hand I'm really attracted to the rhythm section of any song, but on the other I was under the (false) impression that guitar being able to do both melodies and rhythm was more expressive, but after seeing Audun play and how happy and expressive he could be even when playing a relatively simple rhythm, it just solidified my love for Bass guitar.

the bass, and rhythm section in general is the soul of the music. i always loved playing bass for that reason. the guitar and chord work in this song is incredible but it’s all held together by the bass melody

Picked up first guitar at 23, and picked up the bass at 24. Gonna be a life long learning journey but Audun’s joy and skill absolutely won me over. I never appreciate the bass until I not only heard but saw him play.

I'm so grateful to have been able to see these guys before their accident. Funny story, on Thanksgiving eve 3 years ago two of my friends and I were arrested for trespassing in an abandoned mansion near my house. This song was the last thing we listened to before being locked up, so all through the night we kept singing 'Baby I've been there befoooore" in the holding cell. Our Thanksgiving dinner was white toast, some grey slop, and a cup of sugar water. As the night went on we just kept singing this song until we finally made bail the next day. Even now whenever I hear this it brings me right back to that night with my friends. Wild times. Thanks for making this video Michael!

This was the song that made me fall in love with their music, the song that made me want to pickup a guitar, and the first song that comes to mind when I remember them, RIP to these two talented and amazing artist, they def were gone way too soon, god bless their souls 🙏

When you know he wrote this song about his dead mom😞 the words in it hits different. “I bet their mom would let them know what I’m about to face, keep your mouth zipped son.” And also “I guess I knew this would happen to you, sad I did but I refuse to know the truth.” It’s like he knew his mom would die😞

Thanks for reacting and showing the world a little slice of Her’s, Michael. I saw them live for the first and last time on March 5, 2019. Less than a week after my birthday, they were tragically killed. Although I was able to get a few photographs with them and have a few conversations pre and post-performance, they became my friends from that night onward. They were truly special, a musical marvel. My children and children’s children will listen to their voices and music for the remainder of my years. Long Live Her’s.

Dude, I’m in the military and was overseas around the time of their tour. I was taking a 2 week vacation and one week was going to Paris and the other week going to the states. Her’s was playing at a venue and so was TV Girl. I love both bands equally but I had been listening to TV Girl a bit longer so I decided to go see them. When I got back from my vacation I heard they had died the day after I was supposed to see them. I’m so upset I didn’t decide to go see them instead 🥺😔

It’s sad that they passed and they won’t be making anymore great music. I really enjoyed all there songs.

I am always amazed by your genuine enthusiasm for what’s going on in the music as a Player this is a priceless value and reveals even more of the personalities of the musicians we all love, so sincere thank you for what you do! Can’t wait to binge watch as many of your videos all day thanks again

As a person who hates reaction videos, I have watched and enjoyed every second of this. As a devoted Her's fan, I felt so blessed that you were also infected with their laughter and fun while playing their music and obviously your expert comments made me look at the song differently.

The chances of being merc'd by a bass player during a performance are low....but never zero😊; this is fantastic groove and vibe with STELLAR tones! Love the baritone-tenor vocal range on display as well. RIP & thanks for the musical blessing❤

I'm a guitar player but got asked to play bass for a really gnarly punk band that was a cross between Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against the Machine. I used to mosh with the crowd during some breakdowns and I absolutely cracked a kid over the head with my bass by accident. He was definitely bleeding but he was majorly stoked, definitely felt bad but it was awesome

Her’s is amazing. Imagine the masterpieces they’d come out with if they never passed.

Her's Forever

This means so much 🙏 the community is small but stuff like this keeps these two brilliant musicians music alive. They were unbelievably talented and enjoyed what they did like no one else.

I discovered Her's this summer and I have been thinking of them everyday. Their music just hits in a way nothing has so far. It's just a part deep in my heart. I can't think about them without tearing up and thinking of them too much like I did rn just made me burst into tears. I have huge empathy problems but for some reason knowing they're dead just BREAKS me

I honestly get sad watching this video, but this video sums them up perfectly, they loved what they did and i think that's all that matters in the end. Would be awesome if you watched a few other songs, like low beam, underwraps and harvey for example. These guys were amazing and talented.

This really touched me. I moved to California from the UK the year this song came out and singing it down my freeway commute is etched into my memory. I got to see them a few weeks before they passed away at a packed gig. It was strange experiencing the pride and joy of seeing a favourite band from home having the time of their lives in the states, only for them to be tragically taken weeks later. They clearly were best friends having fuckin tons of fun, and I hope their families can find solace in knowing how much joy they brought to the world. Thanks Tate for requesting, and thanks Michael for taking the time to honour these guys. I’m a longtime lurker picking up the bass and your enthusiasm for music and music theory is infectious. i rarely see the enthusiasm audun (bass player) had than most other bass players, i really enjoy watching them live because of him and i've always enjoyed the bass especially in dorothy and she needs him, rest well these two angels

They were great guys. We had a small group of our kids and their friends that wanted to go see them live in concert. But unfortunately, my son was unable to go because something came up. He was very disappointed because he absolutely loves them and their music. He had never seen them live and this was his opportunity to see them. So you can imagine how disappointed he was. His friends were able to go and when they were there the took a video of Ste and Audun personally saying hi to my son and how they were sorry he was unable to be there and that they hope to meet him soon. They were killed in the accident the following week. Needless to say he never got to meet them. But he makes great efforts to make videos of their songs kind of like you do. He showed me your video and we both enjoyed it. Thank you.... I never comment on social media but I felt compelled to do so this time.

This performance always makes me cry, specifically at the bridge. They look like they’re having so much fun, and I believe they deserved so much more from this world. And the world needed so much more from them. Tragic.

Hi Michael. Their passing is so unfortunate. Their humor reminds me of Frank Zappa's "Does humor belong in music"? Much of the same spirit.

I love Her’s so much - they were truly wonderful in every way 💐 So glad someone requested this.

Another late band that really moves me is "Viola Beach". They were so young and promising. Coldplay even honored them with a live performance of "Boy that sings".

Sometimes I think Micheal’s understanding of the composition is greater than the composers. I feel like he’s technically breaking down something that someone else wrote because it sounded cool, not because it was in Dorian. That’s what I live about music though, and micheal as well!

That is true. The number of comments we find that say "Just discovered their music only to find they'd passed". It's tragic but it says so much for their talent.

I just discovered this band and at 40 it has the feel of all of the post punk I grew up on. This song gets better every time I hear it and sparks the same emotion as all of the music that clearly influenced them. I’m feeling the killing moon, Leonard Cohen, peter Murphy, the damned with a sprinkle of artic monkeys.
