Been listening to C&C since the early 2000s and I love DG but that's a bit of a stretch. Just in Rock music alone there's Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Freddie Mercury, Stevie Nicks, Maynard James Keenan, Mike Patton. If you wanna get into other genres there's artists like Nina Simone, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Holiday, Sam Cooke, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Marvin Gaye...

I think the reason why Dallas's cover is so good is because, as you said, he doesn't just sing the lyrics. He feels them. And that emotion creates a real resonance in his performance. For those of us of a certain age, AIC songs bring back strong memories and we react emotionally not just from the music, but the memories of those times and also the loss of those voices that sang those songs. I always loved this song, but hearing Dallas sing it the way he did also made me tear up. It just proves how good of an artist he is.

Being a huge Layne Staley/AIC fan, it is so hard to listen to those who cover their music b/c, even the best of artists, just miss the mark. However, Dallas blew me away with his interpretation of the song. He took this gritty, raw, slightly fearful/sad song and made it equally haunting yet so beautifully smooth - and you could still feel the angst that was Layne. Well done! And yes I shed a few tears as well!!!

I named my son Layne because of my love for the man. Layne was telling us flatout in his music that he was on a path to death , you can almost hear the accepted reality of his own demise on the Dirt album, he knows the addiction has him and most likely will destroy him. He was a one in a billion talent and missed sorely by us hardcore Fans.

But then I got lucky AF, with a little patience, and was able to meet him after the show. I can't tell you how incredibly surreal and incredible it was to be able to hug your musical idol's neck, tell him thank you, and how much his music has motivated and inspired you. And the fact that he's so nice, so chill, and so humble just makes him that much more incredible of a person and artist. Thank God his voice was discovered!!

The most impressive thing about all of your videos is how you hear it seemingly for the first time then repeat it whilst explaining the theory behind it!

The emotional power of this cover reminds me of Cory Taylor's acoustic version of "Snuff". (You should DEFINITELY check out that song if you haven't yet.)

Hearing Alexisonfire in 2004 got started my search for Dallas’s first ep for so long. Like Knives hit hard for me at the time. Only saw Alexisonfire once live, but I got to tell Dallas how much the song touched me. Been a fan for so long!
