I really don't know much about guitar refret/set up and usually just go to a tech to do the job for my guitars, but this is satisfying to watch. True craftsmanship.

いや~困りました！リフレットして頂いたこのギターのおかげで他のギターを触らなくなりました！ 角度によってフレットが鏡みたいになり指板が映りこみフレットが指板の色になります。 この精度は半端ないてす！調整後のバランスも良いですし、リフレットをお考えの方はぜひお勧めの リペアマンだと思います！

Perfection. One thing could make it easier for you. Trust me it changed my soldering experience although at one point in my life I have had to solder few thousand pins per day. I use to work with Weller products and for old fashioned products that was professional tool. I’ve found active tip soldering irons and than started the journey finding ideal soldering station for me. I still own few but I have settled with JBC. I do not work for them but they have changed my soldering life. All I though I knew flew out of the window. Size size it looks like a toy. Very accurate. One would think that toy can’t have power but C245 point irons disregarding on their punny size have 130 or 140 Watt power. From cold ready in 2 seconds. Once back on station in the standby lower temperature but directly ready once you take them off the station. Best part though is that they react on the temperature drop so fast that you can stay on lower temperature setting and still solder big things. Being active tip heater is in the tip it self and very close by as well as temperature sensor. Hence drop is detected fast and tip is warmed up back to temperature so fast that you do not lose power. Soldering pots I do not need to prepare pot nor use any flux. Just put wire on it and solder it in seconds. It feels like cheating. Also way less cleaning needed especially if you use modern tin that is using no clean flux. JBC has like 150 different tip shapes and sizes and I own 7 different types. Those cover all my needs from SMD stuff to big ground plane wires and braided coax cables. For the SMD I have two hot air stations additionally but that is not important. I have no affiliation with JBC but I simply can’t believe how much it helped and that I haven’t had it before. I also use their vacuum attachment to suck fumes of the tip of the iron. So funny that with very precise tip I can resolder some SMD part I need microscope to do and with just bit bigger tip this same little thing solders big things with ease. I use to have big cheap 100 Watt iron just for few things. It takes minutes to heat up and loses heat on big things. This scalpel of a thing does it easier and is ready in no time!?? Black magic I believe :)

@@Andybassguitar it repays so fast. There is a model with analog dial and no display and costs like 250 $. That's mire than enough. Provides same technology and 140 Watt power. Each tip is around 30 $ though. Anyways when I add up all cheap soldering irons I have had over the decades that was such a waste of money. Now it is pure enjoyment and perfect tactile feel. Super easy and fast and accurate. No fuss, little to no cleanup. I am looking forward to work with it even after years of use. Just last night I've changed pickup leads on some humbuckers and opening and closing them as well as soldering proper braided wire is so easy. Like I've mentioned before feels like cheating. Size of it, weight and flexibility of the silicone cable used on it, materials used makes it feel like using a pen. One would say it's like 18 Watt toy soldering iron but it's sleeper with 140 Watt's power on the tap. One works with way lower temperature so flux doesn't burn at all. Like I've sad changed my life. After years of soldering at my work soldering stopped being fun at one moment. Well it's fun again and I am always looking forward to build a tube amp for someone or modify some nice guitar. BTW you do great job. Very nice to watch your calm approach and attention to detail. Perfection.

Excellent craftsmanship! I like the way you made the fret ends as wide as possible to maximise fret length for playing. 👍 The thing that annoys me the most about my Tele is the very "rounded" fret ends they are like a 45 degree angle at it robs me of precious fret width...

technical question in hopes of saving myself some time in the future. when you graze over the Frets with that rounded Sandingblock after levelling them with the Beam, is that your technique for crowning, or simply an in between step? crowning every fret individually with a file is a chore and I hope you discovered a cheatcode.

This process has two meanings: rounding the frets and a step to remove scratches on the frets. Lately I've been thinking that this process is the best way so far to get the fret finish I want. It takes time, though. I'm trying to improve the quality rather than shorten the time. I hope to reduce the time by getting used to this process. It's not a factory product, so I'm not concerned about the time. Thank you for your comment.

are you a fan of flat frets like the ones that came on early fenders?, you have to sand alot more of the fret tho

Can I ask,.. why is the fret tang removed on the edges of the board, when there is no fretboard binding? It seems to me that you may cause fret unevenness or fret edge spouting because of the possibility of not removing all of the tang and the filing causing the tang to be flattened slightly. Making it difficult to get seated as deep as the rest of the fret. It also removes the barbs on the tang that work to prevent the fret from backing out of the groove. I have guitars where the fret tang end is visible on the side of the neck. Seems like some luthiers choose not to trim the tang ends.

フレットタングを切るのは指板が収縮した際にフレットが指板から出てしまい、演奏が困難になった場合、再度フレットのクラウンだけを削り演奏できるようにするためです。 しかしタングをトリミングしないことは間違いでは無いとも思います。 フレットサイドのタングを残すことにもメリットがあります。 タングのトリミングは手間がかかるので採用しない弦楽器製作者さんたちも多いです。 また、フレットタングをトリミングした際のデメリットもありますが、私はそれを克服できたので、トリミングをしています。

What about the lacquered maple fretboard? Should I sanding it like a rosewood fretboard after removed the old fret?

You are obviously meticulous. However, I would prefer some narration. You might answer some questions I have. Like did you adjust the truss rod before you sanded it down? No glue on the frets? And solder on the frets? I've done that before for flat spots. And rounding off the fret ends with a file left some file marks which required a lot of touch up. Then you taped it off? What grit sandpaper did you use? What kind of fret polish? Then you take the tape off and file down the fret ends again? Can't complain about the finished product though. The end product is beautiful.

8:04 Do you agree with me that a gap of 0.002" doesn't prevent the instrument from functioning properly? In other words, is it more of an aesthetic concern than a functional one, or do you genuinely think that such a gap could be detrimental to the instrument's playability? thank you.

0.03mmのゲージを使っています。このゲージが入らないくらいが日本のリペアでは常識です。 コレは美的要素ではなく、サウンドに大きく影響する隙間です。 普通の紙がフレットの隙間に入るようであればその作業は論外です。 フレットと指板の隙間を接着剤で埋めるような作業も論外です。 ただし、0.03mmのゲージが入らないくらいの隙間（ほぼ密着している状態）に接着剤を保険のために使う場合もあります。持ち運んだり、衝撃、時間経過によってフレットがズレてしまうことがあるためです。 0.03mmのゲージが入るフレットと、入らないフレットはサウンドに大きく影響すると思います。 どちらのサウンドが好みか、は人それぞれですが。 小さい定規でフレットを優しく叩くときちんとフレットが打てているかが分かります。 まあ、全ては好みですけどね。

Gluing is done. It's not so good for the guitar.

Remember guitars have character and ambience. If you strip it to far back you will lose this listen to guitar before proceeding. Good work tho in general. Just feel the guitar
