I can’t even get a 2% complete on that song. I play it on hard at 1.50x note speed. I play most songs on expert

18:34 This is actually really brilliant. It lets you go at literally whatever you speed is, which would allow a runner to constantly push their own limits. Like if you can do Cliffs of Dover 300%, what would stop you from doing 350, or 400%? It would save precious time on the next song, and let the run be even faster. This exact kind of challenge is perfect for speedrunning.

Liam Callahan it occurred to me during I'm in the band that this is also pretty masochistic even for speed runners, there is not only zero respite from start to finish but you can also completely fuck yourself at any point and lose progress. That on top of an increadibly high skill floor, at minimum to do this you would have to keep rhythm with songs set at 500+ BPM, in the case of some of the metal songs nearly 650 to 700 BPM. Thats 8 per second on average, up to 12 per second.

GH2 would be harder than GH3 because of Trogdor. Seriously that song will take MANY attempts, it's barely possible because of that insanely fast strumming part and the way teh timing window works. Not to mention songs like Beast and the Harlot and stuff on that engine is just harder to FC. GH3's engine is very lenient. A GH1 speedrun would be very cool, because none of the charts are THAT bad, but the fact that you pretty much have to strum every note makes it a challenge. Also would love to see a Warriors of Rock speedrun, that game has a ton of difficult songs, it's the hardest in the series. I really hope he does another one of these soon. No point in him doing Aerosmith, Rock the 80s, Smash Hits, GH5, World Tour, or Metallica since we all know he can do those pretty easily. GH Van Halen would be another great one he could do, that game is hard as shit.

Barely watched the intro and this is exciting to me because Gh3 is the latest of the guitar heroes I have so I can relate the difficulty levels of songs more so than when he plays crazy songs I never heard of. Ok, gonna continue watching now xD

I think you may have accidentally stumbled onto something brilliant here. I'm much more interested in the 100% version of this though, as it's more interesting to me when speed has to be balanced with precision, but hilarious and fun to watch this was for sure.

Honestly, I think this is a great speedrun idea since it forces the speedrunner to recognize their limits and push toward it rather than just rushing for time. Your skill in the game itself is the only thing that makes it fast. There is no intrinsic manipulation of the game in this run.

The difference between playing GH3 in Clone hero and playing GH3 in the official game is that in the official game you can’t gain star power while you have star power active. The stars just don’t appear. So if this was an actual tryhard speedrun it might’ve been invalid. Anyways, this was really fun to watch, love the concept even if it’s a bit unusual and insane.
