Nice overtones, it sounds pleasantly balanced.

I just completed a guitar using full width linings. Guitar has fewer overtones, clearer sound and less volume to the player. I also used a 1/8 back. I used mesquite for the whole build including the top.

Interesting observation. What are you comparing it to ? Is this the first one you've used with full linings? I'd be wary of drawing conclusions from one sample.

@@chuckmorrison I agree. Part of these observations have to include the use of mesquite for the top. As to the loudness, it's similar to a resonator I built all metal. It projects so it sounds quieter to the player. Regardless I will use full width linings going forward. Thanks for your experiments

Very interesting! Do you do double tops and full width linings on steel string as well?

I have restricted my double tops (and full width lining) to classical guitars, but I do know people who have made steel string guitars with double tops. I just haven't gotten around to it.

Have you tried snake wood saddles on steel string acoustics? I have a little darker acoustic, and the extra brightness sounds interesting. Always enjoy the topics you cover. Thank you very much

Yes I have. It depends on the guitar as to whether it's a good fit sonically, as you mention.

When you say 20mm thick neck is that 20m including the fret board thickness ( about 4-5mm, making the neck 15-16mm)?

Yes, 20 mm includes the fretboard.

The nomex I’ve seen I’d 2mm thick, so to get a 3 mm top that would be 2 .5 mm skins? Or a .4 mm skin in and a .6 mm skin out?

I started out using nomex that is 1.6mm thick and any I get that is larger gets sanded down to that thickness. That gives me leeway to modify the skins depending on the wood being used, between 0.5mm and 0.7mm.
