Guinea Fowl Sound the Alarm

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Have you ever wondered who's making all that noise? Chances are pretty good that it's our guinea fowl! Our helmeted guinea fowl roam the zoo in large groups and are hard to miss once they start calling.

    They can be mean to other fowl you may keep. Mine love to attack my light colored chickens and pull out clumps of their feathers. They also chased a fox once (stupid but confident). They never lose their wild side even when hand raised.

  • @spookyhellion6657

    @spookyhellion6657

    I raised guineas before. One would always perch on my sisters window at 6am every morning and do this exactly. I'll give you a few options to try but guineas can be stubborn. 1. For at least a week, (and I know it'll suck) try to scare it with a stick or a broom, don't chase, run at it, or smack it, just walk confidently towards it and push it off your property. Teach it that this place isn't a good roosting area. 2. Unless you live in Africa, these birds are definitely not native. Someone most likely owns this bird, (they're good eating if you like dark meat, and demolish tick populations). See if you can find the owner and tell them to come get it. They tend to run off if they aren't acclimated to their new home. 3. This might sound a little nutty, but you could try going out at night and see if you can find where it roosts and catch it. Then just go to any flea or farmers market and sell it. I cant remember the prices they sell for but you could make a quick buck.(This is assuming you have some type of small kennel and a net, or you're really sneaky and just grab it while it naps) 4. This will be your last option... and it ain't pretty. Just shoot it, or get someone to shoot it. If its driving you nuts then get rid of it. Just make sure that if you do, try your best to reclaim any meat, or at least the feathers. They sell pretty good at any arts and crafts place. Waste not want not. Then just bury it around a tree or garden. Nutrient cycle ya know? I hope this helps. If you have any questions just let me know.

    I have been plagued by these crazy birds for years. It's a pack of five and they roam freely around the neighborhood. How these birds survive is a mystery because they have no regards for safety. Just run out in front of cars...go inside the fenced off dog pen. And don't even get me started on the one stupid bird of the group. If he gets ten feet away from the others it makes this sound for hours. HOURS. never moves to find the others...just frozen in panic. The others couldn't get a single f about that bird lol
