Deepali Taneja Donghae’s dad passed away few months after his debut. He was so close to his dad and he became a singer because it was his dad’s dream to become one. So he must felt sorry for the little boy to have this kind of relationship with his dad

I feel like the mom is also a victim and is already sacrificing a lot for her kids. She doesn't get any rest and does everything in the house by herself while working 3 shifts as a nurse because she can't rely on her addicted husband. The mom and the kids deserve so much better.

Eunhyuk's behavior towards the fanboy just cemented my love for him. He's been my fave member since the start and I'm sticking with him till the end. 💜

Does anyone else thinks it's dumb that the guy who spent 3 months at a PC bang (without showering or changing his underwear!) before going to the army was thought of as less of a concern than the guy who likes Super Junior? I think that's a little ridiculous!

It depends on your point of view I guess ? I think that the pc game guy is insane, but he doesn't seem to care about others this concern affects more his friends than him for the moment. And that's a concern on its own... But his mental is not really affected. But I can see why the fanboy feels bad. Ppl don't say anything about fangirls (whether they like boygroups or girlgroups) but because he is a guy he is mocked and stuff. Maybe it's a bit extreme but he should be able to like whatever he wants. From the outside we can see that it is not much of a concern but think at how he is feeling when ppl tell him he is a psycho etc... PS : sorry for my english I don't even know it all make sense :c

I think the second concern is a bit too subjective as to whether or not you vote on it as a concern. For instance, "I voted it as a concern because I think he's being judged unfairly", or "I voted it as not a concern because there's nothing wrong with what hes doing." On the first issue though, you could vote it as "I'm voting this as not a concern because this guy is human trash and his friend should just throw him away".

Me too, I felt angry and saddened in the fact that it doesnt seemed alerting to them. That gamer even affects his emotions. I may not be a fan of Super Junior but they always make me laugh so much. About the second concern I don't see any wrong in loving your favorite group and it will not make you gay just because of that. Many females likes girl groups but that doesn't make them lesbians, so the same goes for male fans admiring male idol groups.

It is not that he likes a male group, but that he sends things to his friends abt the group even if they don't like them, and he cancels outings with his friends and such to go to the concerts. I think that is the problem. I mean, I would also think he could be gay by the way he acts and how they describe him. I would think a woman is lesbian if she acted and was described the same way. So the real problem is just that he is overdoing it, acting feminine and such is just smth that makes the friends and maybe the people around him uncomfortable, but not a crucial thing in this concern.

Maybe I'm just projecting but I 100% think the boy burst into tears because he got patted in the head and also comforted by Eunhyuk. When you've gone your life not getting love from the people who are there and should love you, getting that small comfort can feel overwhelming. In a good way.

I think he burst into tears because tbh I bet this isn't the first time the mom/dad made promises to be better and this boy has been disappointed over and over again. The dad is an abusive alcoholic. Promises don't mean anything to alcoholics.

The last concern broke my heart, since it feels like it's me sitting in his place (and I can imagine that many others relate as well). I completely understand why he asked for them to not look at him, and I know the hosts were just joking, but in the beginning when they all looked at him on purpose he must have felt very uncomfortable. When you've reached that point of having your confidence completely shattered, it cam be very difficult to do something as simple as making eye contact.

Yeah i agree with you, I just hope and pray that kid can live more confidently and be able to hang out with everyone.

The last concern is probably one of the most horrific concerns I've ever seen on this show. That poor child has an alcoholic father and a constantly busy nurse mom. He's at home by himself until 10 pm after school. He must be incredibly lonely and feel really neglected to have his self-confidence affected that much. It's really sad to see such a sweet boy not even be able to meet others in the eye. The fact that he doesn't have significant pleasant memories of his parents for the past 15 years is just heartbreaking. I really wish his father would stop drinking and his mother would have more heartfelt conversations with him.

The male fan went there with his own concern. His friends complained but it seems Super Junior were impressed instead by the fan's efforts and were seemed slightly affronted when his efforts were criticised. I understand that forcing your own interests on your friends is not nice but seems like they were complaining in front of the wrong people lol

Sort of.. i personally think that the concern was his friends calling him gay, laughing at his interests because he liked a boy group. If he had liked a girlgroup they would be fine with it. The concern was that a guy cant be a fan of another guy unless he's gay. His concern was the kind of toxic thinking korean society has towards guys liking male groups. He wanted to let people know he likes SuJu and to not bother him for his interests. As for him trying to get his friends into SuJu... that might be a little extreme. Super Junior as artists realised that though many people loved and adored them.. there's still a need for open-minded ness in the society for a man to like them. It might have hurt them to know that there were people who still were embarassed to openly admit that they liked a boy group. So, yes. They werent the right people to be complaining to, but they surely did help in making the guy feel a lot better about liking thwm.. Im sorry for the long comment but i thought i shouls just put this out there..

It’s so weird that in Korea if a guy like male idols, they find it disgusting. Don’t girls too are crazy for girls idols. In fact, it’s more guys who attend boy band’s concert in my country. Why in kpop it is presumed that boy bands have only fangirls while girl groups have fanboys. Somehow industry is at fault too, they only pick pretty boys nowadays, plastic surgery is also so prevalent. I m sure many guys likes make idols music but they r ashamed to admit it too their friends because industry has more of established that the male idols they churn out are for girls. Let it be just a group of talents. Why mold it to fanservice a particular gender. It creates more wedge and makes it more prejudiced towards fanboys of boy bands. Let artists stay as themselves and let people love them as who they are. In Bollywood, SRK has a huge fan following and I m sure half of them are boys. FYI he is known as King of Romance. By society prejudices, his fans should be mostly girls. But I have seen so many guys crazy over him, they even have watch few movies of him more than 50 times in cinemas. Way more than me.i m too huge fan of him. And they proudly brag for it. I know there are differences in both situations. Idols usually debut in teen age and their fans are teenagers. A little immaturity and concern of being mocked by friends is there. Still I feel industry can play a huge role in that. They can make it pretty normal if they first accept that their groups can have both female and male fans. And cater to both gender’s wishes or let just idols be themselves. For girls groups,I see it’s pretty normal though, better than boy bands. Like Twice has almost same amount of fans in both genders. Why more issue with male idols? I wonder if reason is more deep rooted in our mindset esp male community. Girls are usually pretty chill if their friend like gg, some would even happily join them. Urggg so many thoughts right now. I can’t find root for all this. Sorry for all this big rant. There r so many issues with it that I can’t pinpoint problem at one and I might be not clear in my comment.

i dont think it was even a full year after debut. maybe like 8 months. he never got to say goodbye to his dad when he passed away and donghae had left his family at 13 to be a trainee... so yeah, heartbreaking :< the anniversary of the last time hae saw his dad alive actually just passed. oct 8.

When the boy cried, Shindong was mopping up tears too. I grew up watching my parents fight all the time too and it is true, their fights remain a shadow on one’s childhood. I’m thankful this boy was brave enough to seek help for his parents and I pray that his parents will truly find a way to learn to love and respect each other again.

Gosh I cried so hard for the third concern. That poor boy, 15 years of existence n not a single happy memory. It would v be better if they divorced years back than causing so much pain in their child. Eunhyuk is just the sweetest guy in K-pop. He's so kind .. what a beautiful soul !

LMAOOOOO not even 1 minute into the show, eunhyuk dissed the hyungs alrd, I seriously can't with this guy. ♥️ Eunhyuk changed so so much since debut, he is hotter than ever! The army sure did wonder to him, they are seriously getting better with age, how did they even maintain their good look over the years?! AND THAT FANBOY IS THE PIONEER ELF, HUGE RESPECT SIR! How can he even breath sitting next to Eunhyuk?!? 😍 Ps: suju is doing a show called SUPER TV, the first ep has been released! We all know its gonna be one hella good mess😂

Eunhyuk has always been attractive, it's just that beauty standards have been changing, as well as fashion. Super Junior is such a complete and wonderful group thanks to the fact that each one is talented and not only handsome.

Jeongwu's concern broke my heart so much. A kid should never have to go through that. The members were obviously emotionally invested and touched. I appreciate Eunhyuk extending his support, continuously patting Jeongwu and looking at him with so much sincerity. I only hope nothing but infinite happiness for Jeongwu and his family from now on. And to my fellow ELF, Jinseok oppa, you are loved and adored by the fandom. Keep doing you.

The kid's concern left me in tears. Especially the moment he cried. 😭 I wonder how's the boy doing now? I hope the parents has kept their promise. I felt the genuine concern and sincerity of Eunhyuk, Shindong, Yesung and Donghae towards the boy. Makes me love them even more. And i really admire Shin Dong-yup too!

I keep thinking what's wrong liking super junior? I mean other idol boyband have lots fanboys too..i mean like big bang, bts, even exo, and many more...Super Junior is an awesome group, their songs are well produced, have a great performance too..why these people need to see idol as fan's 'love interest', being a fan for a long time need more than liking physically..fans seeing them as an awesome artist and performer too, that's why fans stay. Sigh.

Exactly! Why do I as a fan have to thirsty for my fav idol group? Lol I can love them for their personalities and music(of course many fans do that) but this misconception that someone is following a group only for the eye service is very insulting.

I cant help but comment how Lee Hyukjae takes care of that young boy as if he is a family. I can feel his sincerity. He has such a big heart. Eunhyuk’s parents raised him well. And who ever he loves is so lucky. As an avid fan, I hope he finds the girl who will love and cherish him in good or bad times. And who will accept him for all that he is and that he is not. He deserves to be happy. 💙💙💙

I wish I have friends like Super Junior members. I feel like, they are the real friends each other. Specially, eunhyuk.

I really wished they would consult with a few therapists for these concerns. All three concerns were addicts and are not functioning well even though they’re faking it. You CAN stop a bad habit and not die from it. Poor Jungwoo doesn’t need to change anything or make promises to ‘do better.’ He’s doing the best that he can to survive that toxic environment and the only one who can change that are the parents. Dad should be getting support to quit his alcohol addiction and therapy to address why he relied on it so much and to prevent a relapse, Mom needs therapy to have someone to vent to other than her son and to get support for the abuse and trauma of having an abusive spouse. Family therapy would be good for them to learn how to communicate with each other. Would be good for son & daughter to get some therapy to address this traumatic childhood so that they can be mentally healthier functioning adults and not repeat any mistakes and bad parenting in the future. I’m just so sad that the stigma of mental health is so prevalent that employers can view your health records discriminate against hiring you if you seek these services and that it’s more socially acceptable to go on this show to get help from amateurs who still victim blame and perpetuate outdated and disproven attitudes.

Melody Lao ppl keep posting this... Everyone I know personally who got therapy did not end up any less effed up than any of the guests. Some of them were just as effed up...and also medicated. The show does a good job listening to the concerns, helping the guests talk out possible solutions with their loved ones etc. it also makes me happy that they have had struggles with substance abuse and hard childhoods themselves and give realistic advice. I'm way more impressed with them than all the pros they have ever had on the show. Laughter is the best medicine, and just having someone hear you and let you share can be helpful.

YES TO EVERYTHING YOU SAID. It shouldn't be a reward system kinda thing, like "oh you washed the dishes today so I'll do aegyo for you." But I guess they need to start somewhere, and over time maybe they'll this sort of cognitive conditioning will turn into a genuine desire to be better for the people they love. Jeongwu probably needs lots of therapy, and family counselling might really improve things, but it doesn't seem like they earn very much so it might add financial burden too. In the end it all boils down to their desire to be a better person out of the love for each other instead of just thinking about their own needs.

I agree, If you have an addiction it can't merely be resolved thorughjust shallow talk like that on a show. They'll require specialists. I feel so bad for the kid, I get that he's sad because he won't know if it'll still continue when he gets home.. My grandpa is an alcoholist and my father suffered much during his childhood since he was abusive as well. It's a serious issue that have longtime effects. My father have cut off contact with grandpa because of this and that he couldn't change.

Melody Lao Definitely my thoughts on this, especially the third concern. As a student of social work (especially in a country that's worlds away from Korea), I don't understand why do they find it normal for a parent to be an alcoholic, as well as both parents fighting? I mean they all had a laugh a few times during introduction. Maybe even after the show, would social services see this and remove the child from that environment? If anyone knows more about that and could comment, I'd be rlly grateful since I honestly cannot understand how could they as a family come into public with this kind of problems.

I cried throughout the last concern. I had similar experience as a child growing up with an alcoholic father and a hardworking mom. He always came home drunk and tried to start a fight with my mom. I used to share room with my parents and there are those nights (school nights) where I couldn’t sleep cause they were fighting verbally and physically. I cried when the boy said he tried to cover his ears cause that was exactly what I did. My heart would beat so fast and I wanted it to stop. Things got better for our family once I became 14-15. I hated my dad up till I was 15. I’m 24 now but those memories are still vivid in my head. My brother wasn’t that affected but I reacted very strongly to it. I believed those times really had a negative effect on my mental state and since then till now, I was always a timid kid growing up with intense anxiety and full of emotions when my brother was all care free. I saw myself in that boy. I felt like I was indirectly emotionally and psychologically abused. I watched the last concern with tears in my eyes cause I suddenly remembered all those times. My dad had come a long way since then and I’m proud of him. I understood that he had his tough time and suffering too, but it’s best not to inflict on other. I hope other parents out there realize how much their action affect their children, especially their mental well being which can affects what kind of adult they would become. I hope the family will improve and I think it will from the look of it!

Really sorry to hear that you grew up this way. I can't imagine the horror of living in fear and sadness and anxiety every day. This is a form of emotional and psychological abuse indeed, even if it's not directed at you. I hope you're living better these days, peaceful and free of such emotional stress, and that your father is less abusive and has solved his alcholism. Much love to you!

Thank you for your kind thoughts :) Yeah our family relationship had greatly improved and we're living much better now. It's just sometimes I felt like I myself haven't changed although on paper my life looks great. I still lack confidence, still shy and anxious and stressed with literally everything. I sometime question if it's due to my personality, the way I am or because I witnessed all those fights at night that when I get to school in the mornings, I just feel empty and hollow and couldn't bring myself to socialize others. As if all those times crying and stressing at night negatively affected my interaction with others during the day, contributing to my anxiety and lack of self-confidence in public. I dreaded going home whenever school was over. It built up over time and now I still get a lot of anxiety when I'm outside. Whatever the exact reason/cause is for the way I am, I know that everyone has the capability to improve and I worked on that. I learned to love myself. I sincerely hope Jeongwu in this video grows up well. He did more than most kid can do in that situation. He is strong and good-hearted from what I can see. It's just his mental state I'm worried about when he said "its mentally hard for me." The mom in this vid said "you were so young, I didnt know you would remember." Yeah I relate to him so much. I remember so many things that my parents wouldn't believe that I remembered, it's unfortunate that it's still vivid in my mind. When parents fight, they think that their kids are too young and not mature enough to "care" about their fight. But some kids totally get it and thats why they are very sensitive. I hope he has nothing but good memories in the future.

Same, the last concern (and your past situation) really hit close to home for me, because I’m in a similar situation to his right now. And the funny thing was that when he mentioned the part about him covering his ears, I could recall so many times when my sister and I had to do the same, to no avail since I could still hear everything. Hell, i has been doing that a few nights before this episode aired because they were arguing again. I really hope that his situation gets better, and I’m so happy that your family has been able to overcome that. 😊

You're so brave and I'm glad you and your family are doing it well now. I can relate with the kid and your story but in a different way. I have no father at all, so I grew up in my grandmother house with my mom and my sister, but my mom was always physically and psychologically abused by my aunts because she had no job at the moment and was treated like the Cinderella. And I had to live with that except that I hadn't had the opportunity to hide. I had to watch so many times how they punched my mom and how they treated her like she was nothing. My sister and I, we were always scared when they were at home and they even denied us food, and we had to see my mom trying and success looking for food for us. But actually I became really mature about that. What I want to say to anyone who's struggling with this kind of things is that they'll over one day, and you have to learn the best from it. Don't close yourself, it's not your fault, and just learn how NOT to behave in the future. Learn that you are better than that and that you have to become a strong person, try hard to no let that affects your mental health. Stand up for yourself and you'll grow up fine.

You are not alone in this! There is so many of us who got through it and i believe u can make it! My dad left us and my mom was an alcoholic and its been this way since i was 7 however she did tale her anger out on me. Im now old enough to leave but i have serious childhood trauma and Anxiety disorder and mild depression but here i am still standing tall! Stay strong!

I think the game addict is a serious problem tho. I'm a gamer too but I always play for fun. And I'm the type of person who loves searching new friends online, but that doesn't mean I have to throw away my real life friends and responsibilities. This concern is not just about him ditching his real life friends for online friends, it's more about his bad addiction. These days there's lots of news about people died from playing too much games.

The second concern guy was in hello counselor before when Heechul, Kangin, Shin Dong and Ryeokwook was on the show! He’s truly a fan

Eunhyuk is such a ball of adorableness. Also, I see no real problem with the fanboy. Of course, being an extreme fan can be suffocating if you forget to live your own life for the sake of your idols, but the fact that a boy likes a boygroup shouldn't be a problem per se. And he's right about one thing, having someone you admire can bring positive changes to you. The only advice would be: be reasonable. Don't forget about your own life (says the girl who's been watching K-Pop related videos instead of writing her thesis lately haha).

That last story is actually a big concern to me. That Jeongwu boy have had a depression and his parents didn't know about it. His story brought tears in my eyes. Poor boy, hope he's living a better life now with his family. Even though he cried at the end but it made me feel happy the fact that both of his parents willing to change. 😊

The third concern was straight up heartbreaking. Usually I love wathcing Hello Counselor, but I hate the fact how much this program "normalizes" alcoholism and domestic violence in general. A household like that is not fit for any kid, and this boy (and probably his siter) will be traumatized by their childhood for the rest of their lives. After reading out the concern, the hosts didn't even mention the phisical fights between the parents. I just hope some professional counselors are working with the production team as well, and at least after the show they can help the kid find a way to seek help.

At first i saw super junior and i click. i had fun untill the third concern came up. I can relate with jongwoo's because i've experienced a similar childhood. My tears just flowing like a river at the moment i saw that poor little boy crying. Sigh... im not ready for this

The guy from the first concern should just stop being his friend. Sometimes friendships just don't work out. He does so much for him and is concerned without getting the gratitude he deserves. The gamer guy should be thankful to have such a friend and once he loses him he'll get to see that. No matter how long you've known a person, you still have to make an effort to maintain a friendship. And being friends with someone does not mean that you are responsible for his life.

That is why super junior is the best kpop idol. They do well in singing and variety show

the last concern is seriously heartbreaking. he's so young and already facing that kind of emotional and psychological stress from his parents. for him to appear in a national tv talking about his messed up family is seriously a brave thing to do especially for a young student like him. this appearance could change his life. his schoolmates, his neighbors and everyone will know about his family. and i feel sad to see that he looks very anxious to the point he couldn't make eye contact with anyone. i really hope his family could change for the better. and i hope he himself could be happy in the future

First of all, the things you like, your actions etc. are not directly related to your sexuality. Just because you like a boy group or seem a bit feminine, doesn't make you gay. Secondly, if the guy in the concern was actually gay, imagine how hurtful it would have been to be called disgusting. There is nothing wrong with being gay, yet people have to hide it in order to be treated normally.

I think you're misunderstanding here, it'sa concern for him that people judge him because he likes boy groups. But I also don't understand how the first guy got so less votes. Like, it's hell of a concern.

The way Eunhyuk just stared at that boy, even though he didn't want to be looked at, and listened to his every word, cried with him, hugged him and comforted him makes me so excited for the day Hyukie has children because he will be a great father. He's so caring and loving.

That letter written made me tears. It felt as if he wrote it on behalf to some of the elfs. Yes! Suju also have helped me a lot in many ways. When I get to see them for the first time in concert after 10 years of waiting. I was happy and sad. Happy because finally I get to see them for the first time up closed but sad coz I only see them for a couple of hours. But never less I always felt Suju is very closed to me. They hold a special memory in my life. Thank you Super Junior. 💙

FYI, I was not financial stable to attend to their concert when they came to my country. I finally be able to see them this year 2018 after working full time.

Damn, the last Concern really broke my heart. Just from the way the boy spoke, his behavings, you could see he was physically & mentally affected so bad. The fact that he only remembers his father beeing drunk, having no memories of doing any activities with him or even just a conversation. That he hid in his sisters room when his father came home and coveres his ears when his parents fight, hoping them to stop...And the fact that his mother calling his name when coming home makes him This Happy...Seriously these parents need to learn how to show some love and interest for their child. Can't they see how broken he is? He just wants you to talk to him, nothing else. He wants you to care for him, listen to his stories wether they are good or bad. Poor kid just wants to be loved😔

For me, Eunhyuk caught my eyes because of his looks and jaw line, I find him very attractive (he's my first idol crush lol). That poor kid at the end omg 😭 I hope his family will change

Nora LOL. But compared to other k.idols, SUJU are the most genuine, the most honest, the most spontaneous and the kindest ones. :)

There's nothing wrong with for a man to like male idols or support them..It has nothing to do with sexuality or anything

I love that SUJU weren't afraid to voice out their opinions on matters like these. SuJu really is one of the most well-rounded groups out there, who speak up in what they believe in and can be funny at the same time. I'm glad that the members spoke up and participated in discussions, unlike many of the other guests on this show. And especially with Eunhyuk at the end hugging the boy and constantly providing support, it really showed a softer, more compassionate side of him that was really nice to see! SuJu, Hwaiting!
