Thing is, Asians have smaller builds compared to Europeans. Even when checking BMI, we can't use the standard ones used by people in Europe because we are smaller compared to Europeans so our normal weight is less. It depends on height. People in Asia mostly aren't very tall sp our normal weight is usually 50 - 55kg. 67 is too much for someone whose height is less than 165cm.

A lot of asian people would think 60kg for a woman is too much, I myself weigh so but I'm like 168cm, my own father often tells me I'm fat and when I eat sometimes he criticizes me 'why are you eating that much, even my rice portion is less than yours' and I just rolls my eyes cuz eventhough he eat less rice, he could finish an entire fish by himself.... plus he's a little shorter than me. I believe that he weighs around 80kg, idk why he keep telling me I'm fat gdi...

The face of Minho when the men says his mother told him to quit, I can read in his eyes "a miracle is another name of effort, you go boy you go". He looks kind of upset.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hello Counselor because it's one step closer to showing Koreans that asking for help with problems isn't a bad thing, but I wish they had more real counselors and that when people go to them, it wouldn't mark them as mentally ill ...

This is an example of a female trying to perpetuate toxic masculinity. She is surrounded by men who are comfortable expressing their feelings, yet wants her son to grow up to be the "strong, silent, and macho" type?

Which is the worst concern? To me, it's the 2nd one. Wtf women don't get pregnant themselves, plus every women is bound to get weight if they're expecting a baby, it's normal, and it proves you're healthy. The lady is losing 20kg in a few months, that's a marvelous progress, yet no compliments/encouragements but instead continuous nagging. I got really mad when she mentioned that seasick trip. Making someone throw up is going to get them nowhere. It's ridiculous to think that will help lose weight. I understand if you want your wife to be pretty, but your method is horribly wrong.

+Cecelia Tan But I feel like she was also complaining a bit too much. Like everything was her husband's fault. But everyone knows that if you're trying to lose weight, you can't eat the way she ate on the weekends, because that's just putting back all the fat you lost over 6 days back into your body in 4 meals. So it's definitely not that big of a concern. I feel like if she didn't eat all unhealthy meals in one day and just for 1 meal, she would actually lose weight.

I know Onew was hurt during this episode and this is probably mean but Minho's laugh was adorable during the part where Onew fell.

I'm watching this now knowing that it was at this time Onew hurt his neck but no one revealed anything. He wore neck braces in private and still did the full Everybody choreo which upsets me. :( You can tell his neck is stiff here and he is trying to move it as little as possible. Rather than turning his neck to look to the MC's or to the audience section, he turns his whole body while keeping his neck stiff. I was looking for the other 2 HC eps with SHINee as guests, the ones from Sherlock & DG promotions but can't find them. That's too bad.

I think the husband from the last concern is really cool. I love the fact that he doesn't care if others think his same age wife is younger and judge them for being a younger lady-old man couple. He knows the truth and that's fine for him and he loves his wife. So cute.

If you look at the two pictures of Jonghyun at 24:45, I think he looks a lot healthier in the first one. He didn't need to lose weight at all since he already looked gorgeous and fit (I also prefer his hair colour like that). I hope that he takes good care of himself.

Agreed. Even though Koreans define health and thinness differently than we do, Jonghyun never needed to lose weight, not even in Korean terms. He has gained some weight this year. His cheeks don't look as sunken in, so I think he's doing good now.

princessnicki63 He constantly loses weight for SHINee's album releases and then gains a bit afterwards. But he seems skinnier every time they release a new album. Now, for his solo debut, he's skinnier than he ever been. I really hope he doesn't have a body dysmorphic disorder.

This lady needs to divorce her husband if he doesn't understand that always haggling her about her weight is degrading and disrespectful. Honestly, when I heard this I wanted to cry for her. I can't imagine having to deal with this kind of man

The guy with the cold mother is SO FREAKING CUTE! And I feel really bad about all the fat jokes they make towards the female host. :( That being said, the weight obsessed husband is a huge prick like holy crap, he doesn't deserve her! The controlling father is a scumbag too, that was the most painful looking hug I have ever seen. Minho has the best reaction faces for everything, he's so expressive. Also, why do all the guests have matching sweaters with the hosts? That's so funny to me. The last couple was so cute though, the outfit they put the husband in is so tacky I couldn't stop laughing. And then Minho's laugh! Onew is so precious, I just hope he never seriously hurts himself seeing how clumsy he is.

Four years later, here to confirm he's become my bias too

If I had a partner and constantly mocked me and made me feel like shit for gaining weight and constantly made me feel oppressed to the point that I'll wear a jacket while biking in a very hot day, the only weight loss I'll have is him.

After watching quite a few episodes of Hello Counselor, it seems that people who might have mental problems or behavioral disorders are regarded as simply being mean, annoying, or weird in Korea and that these behaviors can be changed with just mere effort. Of course this is not to say that every Korean thinks like this and that every behavior that might seem abnormal immediately means a mental problem but it appears that they think that behaviors such as cleaning themselves and their environment too much, excessive attachment to useless things,and even talking to stuffed animals and thinking of them as real friends are things that regarded as bad personality traits that can be changed by just wanting to.I don't know, maybe im just thinking too deeply but in America people who behave in similar ways are usually told to seek help or counseling because the problem can't be solved with just the idea of wanting to be different.

totally agree with you!! that's why there is this term 'cha shin kuan li' "self management",if i fail to stick to a social norm i would be considered giving up myself, that i just don't give enough effort to change. they barely consider one might be suffering from mental disorders.i remember watching another channel simonandmartina and the couple taught in korean schools,there are kids having ADHD but they are just seen as 'bad kids'

It just seems really sad to me because koreans work very very hard to the point of some of them committing suicide when really everything might have been different if they were allowed by their society to look for help.

very true... the problem is that mental health awareness and advocacy is extremely low in Korea. lacking "self management" is okay because it's "fixable," but no one wants to admit that there might actually be psychological issues because there's a huge stigma surrounding it. it's really too bad, because those individuals really should be getting help for their conditions instead of writing it off as a type of "bad personality."

Totally true! That's why I don't what a lot of this shows :S I end up disturbed some times. For example,:a father cursing to her daughter yelling her he'll KILL her... Considered as just not expressing himself right? Bull.crap. Some of the people shown here DO have mental disorders or psychological issues, but treating them as just an entertainment for a show? :S Wow, it's a bit concerning.

I'm with you on that too, but we have to consider that Korean people have very different way of thinking, acting and considering things. What we may think is a huge problem and that needs counseling, they see something that can be changed through attitude and effort, and at certain point it is true, you can have all the counseling you want for a certain problem, but the most important thing is that you want it and that you put effort in changing it. I like this show, I believe that the fact that they can talk about it really helps them a lot, and if they are willing to go then they are a step closer to solving it.

Jonghyun's relationship with his mom sounds very cute. I'd love to witness one of their interactions. lol. And poor Onew having to look for his mom. SHINee has the best facial reactions!

That second concern though. The husband is horrible! Wanting her to lose weight and keep fit, that's fine. But picking on her like that is totally disgusting. And blaming her for getting pregnant as an excuse not to lose weight?! What the literal hell. She certainly did not get pregnant by herself and It's not like he has a wonderful body / appearance either. He's one to talk!

None of these people look the slightest bit apologetic, just entertained and mildly inconvenienced. How can they get away with making so many excuses for their terrible behaviors?

Yeah some things were probably a bit much, but despite how old someone is, if they are still living in their parent's house, then you should have to follow their rules. If he gives a curfew you will just have to deal with it, or get your own place. They are your parents and being so gives them certain privileges. But that's just how I see it.

I’m here again after 7 years and all I can think about is how much Jonghyun’s mother loved him. I hope his family, and everyone that loves him and everyone that he loved, are all doing ok.

+OROgoldenpair1 Yep I do hate that they pull off joke after joke about her.. Her weight shouldn't be comical, by far, they act like it's the only thing that makes her funny, being overweight, and they drag down her femininity. You can tell she had to learn how to go with the flow and so she made herself a joke, which is really sad. However, despite how mad I am at them, there are two sides of the spectrum. She also told the woman she could die from eating too little, which is true and a big concern, but it's also true that you could die from eating too much. Now it's not like she'll drop dead on the floor at all, but I am about her size and doctors already tell me to loose weight. It's simply unhealthy. One thing that I also see alot around the internet is comparing them to americans. America should definitely not be taken as an example for healthy eating or a healthy body type. The USA has big issues with overweight people, of course also underweight, but it's known for being the country with the most obese people. Phew I really needed to get that off my chest

Akira Takameshi​ in her case it's not really her being overweight because she has shown that it's mostly muscle. she obviously works out. honestly, it shouldn't matter what size you are. as long as you're healthy. you can have a little extra weight and it not hurt your health at all, same with being super skinny. what i'm trying to say is, it shouldn't be a joke or an issue at all that she's her size. she seems pretty healthy and even proud enough to show off her muscle anyway, even if she has to play the "fat woman" for the sake of the show's humor being dry at times.

+Nana Lee I agree with everything, I just haven't seen all the episodes, so I didn't know of it being muscles. I could only base my statement on her appearance, obviously with everybody having different body types you can't be sure how healthy one is. well, thank you for clearing up :)

This episode pisses me off because of that guy telling his wife, who is beautiful, to go and lose weight. Something very bad is going to happen if he keeps pushing her and pushing her to lose weight

I love how the Onew condition kicked in and everyone was concerned but Shawols and Shinnee were just dying of laughter.

Onew is so cute. Minho's laugh and reactions are so attractive. Pretty and lovely jonghyun is like a baby.love them all

IDK what's funnier, Onew tripping, Minho's laugh, or Jonghyun's "I knew this would happen sooner or later" look LOL

shinee is so cute.. jonghyun when talked about his mother , onew falls and minho react they are really cute
