Or probably because the setting was quite serious, they'd rather be mad thinking they've been made fun of. I'm guessing they didn't realize what's the show about. Philomena Cunk is new to me, I don't really know much about the show.

I read somewhere that she asks real and boring questions for a while to tire them down... Then proceeds with the random shenanigans. That's why you don't see her laughing either.

Do they? I think some should know, but others may be so above pop media and tv and their social interactions probably are not about the BBC new comedian. If you think about it how famous was borat before borat I, but then after that borat II, and there are ppl that probably today would get tricked into the mockumentary.

They all 100% know it is a parody, they see the scriot in advance and are told what the programme is. It takes a ton of editing to get the reaction looking like they don't but they all pull it off very well
The interviewees are always told beforehand that Cunk is "stunningly dense." So they're a little bit in on the joke, but it's enough of a heads-up to let them keep their composure. So no, they don't do multiple takes bc of laughter.

@@SMSCOOBY71 Charlie Brooker and Diane Morgan do a Q & A session for 'Cunk on Earth' I think for BFI stated the people being interviewed are told that the person interviewing them is a bit dense and they should talk to her as if they are talking to a five year old. They also admitted that a large number of these people have by now heard of her or seen some of her interviews, but they still claim that occasionally they run into some intellectual expert that had never heard of her and don't wat h television/streaming shows.

Also may I say, the reactions of many experts here are incredibly British. They were confused but we’re trying not to act too obvious to seem rude in front of the camera. Essence if the show truly

She is actually not a comedian but an incredibly dense person.... Bbc has worked this show around her eccentricity and the interviewees are informed of her peculiarities beforehand

The war of the roses lady is really really impressive, in actually offhandedly complying with Philomena's impossible requests. Amazing. Philomena still manages to make comedy out of it, which is a testament to her talent, but my goodness, her subject is the winner in that bit.

I hope she never stops doing this character and I’m glad she enjoys doing it so much
Diane Morgan explained that the speakers/experts are fully aware that they are participating in a comedy show but they do not know the questions that will be asked. The producers ask them to respond to Philomena as if she were a child and to try to keep their seriousness. But they often explode with laughter, and these moments are cut in the editing!

I have SO much admiration for the way they handled these questions and "misunderstandings". Admittedly there were lots of footage of people breaking up but it's been edited out naturally. This was covered in interview. Nevertheless priceless moments 😂

i am convinced that the guests had no idea what was about to happen, they were just told that they had an interview and that they were to be as serious as possible

I've barked laughter, farted and started crying all at once from shit like her describing the Titanic as a single-use submarine. I couldn't breathe. I'm usually the one who gets those reactions from people when I talk. She's legend.

Generally there aren't any. The experts and interviewees are all told beforehand about Philomena but they don't know what she'll ask, so largely it's all improvised and their reactions to her questions are all genuine 😂

Man, The Daily Show should hire her to do their remote interviews. She isn't super well known in America, so she could catch a lot of people off guard for a season or two.
