@@mymop4422 well most A tier celebs you can recognize from their voice right away we can’t recognize a lot of these lower tier Celebes which makes it fun to see who pops out.

Something funny about Lele Pons is that she also participated in the Mexican version of The Masked Singer and was eliminated after singing a Shakira song. Even funnier, when she was on Dancing With The Stars she was also eliminated after dancing to a Shakira song.

I love that you pointed out the overuse of autotune. I watch this show religiously and that’s something I point out a lot to my husband because it drives me nuts. Especially when it messes with the performance of a really talented singer. And it sometimes covers up their natural quirks that makes their voices recognizable (which I wonder if that’s why they use it so heavily.)

Hubby often guesses "Sounds like so and so if they were trying to disguise their voice" and I wonder if he's commenting on the autotune without realizing that's why the voice sounds "disguised".

They definitely use autotone on this show to disguise voices of actual singers, they'd be way too easy to guess otherwise. In my country's version of this show there was a singer with super distinguishable voice but his voice wasn't recognizable at all before his last performance where he sang with his "normal voice". It's a shame because it takes away from the performances but I also get why they need to use it.

​@@edschelchang6123 Their format is very different though, they don't have seasons, they just have shows almost every week all year where 8 people compete in only two episodes where a winner is crowned in the 2nd ep, then 8 new people comes in to compete. in a year they have 50 episodes, that's 200 celebrities a year so I doubt most are huge a-listers. Also pretty sure Ryan Reynolds was just a special guest performance like Demi Lovato did in the US, didn't actually compete.

Chris from NSYNC probably didn't sing his best because it would have been too easy to recognize him. Cause he sounded so good when NSYNC sang at one of jt's free concert and people have said he sounds very good on the pop 200 tour so he either didn't try his hardest or was having a bad day

Sometimes singers trying to sound worse than they actually are to throw off the people trying to guess who they are. Further in the show they sing better and better

I think they tune it that hard when someone has a SUPER recognizable tone/sound.

I feel like a lot of the “well known” singers go out first normally because they’re probably trying to cover up their voices so they don’t get guessed easily but it backfires into them sounding strange or bad.

I don't even watch the show but anyone who is a fan of PTX knew right away it was them

They're one of the few artists I guessed right away. The only other one I can think of at the top of my head was Wayne Brady in S2. I hate myself for missing the season that Leanne Rhymes won. I watched her performance as the Sun and would have gotten here instantly.

Starting in Season 8 of the US show they started doing Themed Nights. A lot of them are franchise specific and when they are they get some of the charcters from that show/franchise to show up for the episode.

I guessed Macy Gray. I listened to "I Try" so many times that I recognised her voice immediately

Weeirrd I JUST looked up what Bishop Briggs is up to these days (i was obsessed with her song River) yesterday, and saw her whole run on the masked singer. Not counting her, I got 3 right: Shaggy, Macy Gray, and Darren Hayes (I went through a whole Savage Garden/Australia phase 😅)! I was soo sure Demi Lovato was Kelly Clarkson.

I got Shatner because I used to have a friend who'd listen to his spoken word music, and that style is just so unmistakably him.

OMG okay I never seen any other Country's version, but I got Savage Garden omg!! I LOVE that group and that singer sounded just like the lead singer too! Just to give you a head's up, Roomie, O-Town was a boy band from the 2000s, here's the big BUTT though, it was founded using a Reality TV show. While they did have a few hits, their biggest being "All or Nothing" (it even overshadowed Backstreet Boys and N'Sync), they didn't last long in the decade because there were so many boy bands in the early 2000s.

I’ve waited for this one for ages! I’ve really wanted skunk in one of these and she finally made it in! Faith is my favourite singer and I was so annoyed she didn’t win. Skunk is great - and Joel, you don’t know who Faith is???

Macy Grey did Masked Singer Australia, and I had her pegged on the first note her voice is super unique. And Darren Hayes I also had dead to rights the moment he went into his falsetto. Darren's version of Unholy he sang on the show was amazing.

You've definitely heard Bishop Brigg's song "Like A River" and yes, she def does have r&b influences in her music, despite the pop description.

I stopped watching the show a long time ago. However, I heard that one of my all time favorites was on there, Dick Van Dyke, so I had to watch his part. It was definitely iconic. He is definitely a good singer even at his age. He's never been a powerhouse in singing but very pleasant to listen to. Also your producer should have showed the part where he danced at the end it was awesome! I've heard that at 97 he was the oldest on the show!

I got pentatonix, macy gray and William Shatner, and Darren Hayes voice is so recognisable, I followed his season, but knew him straight away from first song.

Also… it’s way easier to guess them when you get the clues from watching the full show. There have only been a few where I could tell just from their voice alone

It's crazy how well you detect auto tune. I was wondering why it sounded like little wrong but I can't tell if they used auto tune.

What would be sick would be a sereis where you take song entries from us and review them.

I got a lot of them but we don't really get a lot of music from elsewhere in the world unless we look for it lol. Also the show makes it easier to guess because they give clues- but I only watched the first two seasons.

Shatner has such distinctive delivery if you're used to it, so got his pretty quickly. Also got Dick Van Dyke, song choice sounded older, and he's got that Jaw which gives him a distinctive voice.

The best voice I've heard from one of these Masked Singer shows that isn't distinctive enough to be able to tell who it is I would say is the winner of the most recent UK series aired in beginning of 2024.

Love the guess of "the Frozen woman" for the artist singing Defying Gravity.

The Macy Gray one I guessed from the first notes she sang. She has a really recognizable voice.

It is the same in the swedish masked singer, they auto tune and distort some of the voices. I think because it used to be so easy guessing the artist before.

It’s the costumes. The singers who have been on the show have spoken about how the hardest part is trying to sing in these overheated super heavy costumes they can barely see out of nd can’t move in. I imagine it’s difficult to get breath control in them. Notably the ones that do best usually basically wear normal clothes with gloves & ht.
