Hey welcome back to screencrush, I’m Arey arey. We got an advance copy of the guardians of the galaxy volume 3 blu ray and it is filled with new reveals, easter eggs, deleted scenes and teases for a sequel in the marvel cinematic universe. So I’m going to break down all of these new easter eggs, the deleted scenes, and explain exactly what we can expect next from the guardians of the galaxy-and the high evolution.
Doug: Waot, he’s alive?
Yes, and we’re going to talk about what could happen next for the best villain of the multiverse saga-so far.
But first, let’s break down some of these new easter eggs. In the featurette, James Gunn had an interesting way of describing the movie [clip]. Gunn went on to describe his trilogy, that the first film was about the mother, the second is about the father-but this film is about the self. It’s about Rocky accepting who he really is, and finally learning to love himself, so he can love others.
So right away in the audio commentary, Gunn revealed that the KNowhere set is the largest set ever built for a marvel movie. And that’s saying something, because there were parts of the Avengers: Age of Ultron set that Joss Whedon never even saw [clip]. The set took up an entire soundstage, and was several stories tall. No wonder they wanted to shoot the Guardians holiday special-they had the set, might as well film on it [clip].
The movie gives a larger role to Cosmo the space dog, played Borat 2’s exceptional Maria Bakalova-
Doug: More like Maria Bark-a-lova.
I love you so much, high five. But what I didn’t realize is that she was on set for all of Cosmo scenes, crawling around on all fours like a dog.
sheath ad here
James Gunn also talked about how close rocket and nebula had become during the blip, since they were the only guardians left, he confirmed that rocket built a new arm for nebula and that he completed her face. Rocket actually gave Nebula this new arm because, in the holiday special-she gave him Bucky's arm [clip]. In fact, there's a really sad moment later in the audio commentary, when Gunn reveals why rockjet wanted prosthetic limbs. [need that guy’s leg, how much for the arm]
Well, the audio commentary, shortly after Rocket’s anger got his friends killed, Gunn says [clip].
Doug: That's so sad.
Yeah. After Guardians 3 a lot of scenes hit hard, like rockets and Peter floying [clip]. Or, this [crying over groot].
All of the actors playing the animals were shot together, in mocap suits, so you really can see elements of linda caredellini’s face in Lyla. and get this-the actor who plays Floor also played assistant to nova prime in guardians 1, here.
As for the high evolutionary, Gunn said that a major big name actor was in line to get the role-but after he worked with Chuckwudi Iwuji on Peacemaker, he wanted the part to go to him. There were even cool things where Iwuji’s audition for the role was filmed by DC, and the Justice League cameo in Peacemaker was filmed by Marvel.
Anyways, he told Iwuji he got the part on the day they filmed the peacemaker dance sequence. Apparently, the high evolutionary treatments that make him young also kind of intoxicate him. [clip, when he falls]. Which I thought was interesting, because when you go back and look, every time he acts irrationally or makes a huge mistake, it's usually after one of his treatments.
The space ship, the Bowie, is another practical set that was two stories high. It allowed them to move the camera much more freely on set-as opposed to a green screen or filming in the volume. It’s important to give fantasy movies a real texture, so we have some attachment to the real world.

8:37 Rocket's cleptomania is a trait of his species. Raccoons steal things because they find it amusing. They are opportunists so if they see an interesting object, they steal and collect it. Which is a really cool layer to his character and the things he does throughout the trilogy.

I want to see The High Evolitionary become more comic accurate, like he experiments on himself, and has a forced accelerated evolution, and heightens his intelligence and physical power, just like in the comics, and make him more comic accurate, giving him powers like psychokenesis, and black hole creation, energy blast, super strenght, super speed, immortality by hacking his genetic code, or rewriting his genome or something like that, and many other different powers. And I just really want to see The High Evolitionary vs Galactus in the MCU, just once, just once, I want to see that.

Great video as always, Ryan! And the pic of James' parents in the credits is a screen shot from their cameo towards the end of Volume 2 (I'm sure you knew that, but just wanted to add that here since you didn't say it in the video - of course I know you have tons of info to get through, so I get it).

I thought that when Gamora responded to Groot rather than the whole telepathy thing that you mentioned it was that she understood Groot all along. She was just being a jerk when she always asked what he was saying. The interaction between her and Groot was the first time she had ever let her guard down enough to say something nice to someone. I have only watched the movie once but that was my thought on it.
