When doing the Slalom Test in GTA 4, you can see Niko leaning side to side as he is turning. The attention to detail in that game was insane

sad to say gta4 and red dead is probably peak rockstar. The thing that still sticks with me is how whenever you're about to get a phone call in gta4 your ingame car speakers make the same noises as they would when your phone is next to some speakers irl. The weird electronic beeping and crackling. Now THAT was attention to detail.

Every car in GTA V feels like it has hardcore race suspension stock. GTA IV actually feels like a normal-ish car. I say normal ish because the cars on gta iv feel like they dont even have anti-roll/sway bars.

The "cartoony" driving in V sucked ass imo. Cars felt really still, the mid-air turning just makes no sense... For me, such weird driving that feels inferior even to ancient games like Rush and Daytona USA really ruins the fun in a game largely about driving...

@@BlazeOfKakarot Well, I don't really like BeamNG driving experience. You can't really drive over 100mph stably in BeamNG. There are just so much rollings in the rear wheels and fishtail effects, and also too low tractions. GTA V is just fine for me. It feels very casual and fun to drive. GTA IV driving feels more realistic than as casual and entertaining as GTA V.

Zero yeah the suspension in all the cars for GTA IV seemed exaggerated but I'd rather that than being able to control cars midair and roll them back on their wheels tbh. Physics wise IV is far superior to V, the graphics just aren't and never were pretty in IV (unless you have ENB)

Gta 4 had a great ability to make slow cars feel fast. It really felt like you were pushing an ordinary car beyond it limits when you drove it fast, and that was exciting

MisterPringle People joked about IV's driving physics because it was too slippery. On the other hand, V's physics are way too grippy. If you've driven a car before you should know that both games' driving physics aren't realistic at all. Anyway, I was really concerned about V's physics as I watched the gameplay trailer, looking at such an agile 9F (I enjoyed racing in games the most back in the day). But then I've grown with it and the physics became some of my favorite arcade racing games physics. I raced the shit out of it in 2014/15 and broke 22 world records on mostly Rockstar created races. I still enjoyed Cunning stunts in summer '16 but after that I got bored, street racing is much more fun to me (all I need in V is a new map). I still won more races than I lost though. But I never got a feel for IV's physics. It's just opinions, I understand where people are coming from if they say IV is their favorite GTA. But saying IV was better is not right. VI's is probably going to be a better game than V, even if I liked V more.

I've always said I loved GTA IV car handling. You could really feel the weight distribution on each car, and had to account for it in a more realistic way. It's sad that so many people whinged enough about it, to get it more arcadey again in GTA V.

There needs to be a mix between the two for the next GTA. IV was just over-the-top in terms of the suspension dipping, whereas V basically turned cars into go-karts. At the very least add an option in the pause menu "Vehicle Handling - Arcade/Simulation" then balance the two with acceleration/top speed rewards and nerfs.

Cause if you did, then you should know that physics in GTA 5 has nothing real in it, not a single freaking aspect; and GTA 4 physics is way more closer to reality, though suspension work is exaggerated. But at least GTA 4 does have the suspension work and a sense of mass, inertia, grip and gravity. GTA 5 doesn't have those things at all.

Not really. It’s not that, it’s that the body roll should have been slower. On some more modern cars like low weight, Subaru’s, (Sultan) BMW 3 series (sentinel) so on, they should have had less bodyroll, but most modern American cars drive like ones from the 70s anyways. They have stupid suspension.

i dont know why people say the gta IV cars are like driving a boat. In real life cars do have weight like that and cars do have wide drifts when going at fast speeds. in gta 4 cars are a little harder to drive but at least it felt like a car. In gta v its like driving a floating car that has no momentum or weight. Really unsatisfying especially when your listening to the radio. I rerember having so much fun drifting while listening to the radio in tbogt.

From what have I concluded, a physics engine between GTA IV and GTA V would be glorius!

I think in GTA IV, they had the bump/rebound damping for most of the cars right (in terms of potholes and typical road bumps) but on sportier models they needed to adjust for sway bars existing and for brakes to be slightly more powerful. In GTA V the bump damping is almost non existent so each pothole and bump looks spine-shattering but the sways were more accurate with the cars leaning. There's no reason for an Escalade to hit a pothole like it's on lowered coils. I think the tire grip is almost so far from each other on the spectrum that it's tough to point out a "better" option. GTA IV could have had better grip in the corners, and V needed just a bit less grip. In terms of people saying that they felt a sense of speed in IV, I think they removed some motion blur for V to accommodate for map size and online gameplay rates. Both of the games needed to meet in the middle ideally IMO

If they would have brought the physics from IV into the environmental improvements of V it would have been awesome! The dynamic lighting in V is much better, but the physics from IV blow away the physics in V (if you can even call them physics). I'm talking strictly about the driving aspect. In IV you can even see the driver being thrown from side to side.

You can't call a car wobbling left and right everytime you steer realistic.

GTA IV has more realistic car handling than most racing games. The love for the small details in this game is just amazing. Driving to fast and braking to late in this game actually punished you. Felt so good to drive in GTA 4.

Love how cars handle in GTA IV,feel like a real life car handle. You can slide, oversteer,understeer, drifting pretty realistic

I downloaded gta 4 and i was surprised that a 2008 game has such physics when you drive a car its like you are driving a real car.

Sometimes in gta 4 it was fun just to drive around the city because it is actually hard to control your car while driving fast, especially on wet streets. I am not talking about graphics or story line, gta 4 was just better in that aspect. In gta 5 you can go up to 100 mph, hit the brakes and your car will be stopped in seconds, even if it is just an ordinary car.

Which is what made the game fun for me. People say IV was painfully boring thanks to the focus towards 'realistic' but it was the physics in the game that made it unpredictably fun. I do enjoy V but it feels like it was slingshot a bit too far into Saints Row 'fun' territory. It didn't feel memorable and fun the same way as it was seeing and feeling Liberty City alive for the first time.

Ah, just another video to remember why GTA IV was better. GTA V is still tons of fun, but even with the pretty graphics, it losed a lot of details. Sadly, it was a rushed game, sacrificing both huge details from previous games, and new content that they ended up removing from the game. All of it just to add yet another Opressor. Another fun comparison is with tanks when you pass over a car. In GTA IV the car will get flat in the exact part you passed by. In GTA V it just... does nothing different to any other vehicle. Not to mention, the differences between levels of destruction for cars get even bigger the more you inflict damage to them. In GTA IV you can get a real mess, leaving whole parts useless or flat. In GTA V, the newer the car, the less damage can get on its model. Just give a try to the latest GTA Online cars. Damage is almost non-existent.

I would have preferred GTA IV handling with a mix between V and IV's Damage psychics

I like GTA IV's physics because the driving is challenging and fun. *I'm not saying that it is realistic* (in case another argument starts), but you can feel the weight of the car a lot more, maybe even too much. GTA V has by far a much more arcady driving (again, not saying that GTA IV's driving is realistic), as seen in the slalom test, while GTA IV's cars have a softer and bouncier suspension. IV's cars are also heavier and slower. Driving is fun in both games, but I like IV's physics a lot more, since it's more fun to just drive around and crash into stuff to see what happens. If you disagree with me, please feel free to comment your opinion, but let's not turn this into an argument about what game is better, both are great games, and in the end it just comes down to personal preference.

Just off the top of my head, GTA IV: Better story. Cops aren't total dicks. Superior fighting system. More places to enter / revisit. Cars more fun to drive + ragdoll. Not one but *TWO* single-player DLCs. V is all about online... Much smaller map but without huge empty spaces. It actually seems bigger. That being said, I love every GTA from III to V, but I enjoyed IV more than V (still a great game though).

Waaaaaaaay bigger map, but empty as fuck. 2/3 of it is nothing. Completely dead. IV's story was much better and not disjointed / split between 3 main protagonists where neither one was completely "fleshed out." III, Vice City, San Andreas, IV, TLaD, TBoGT, you had one main protagonist to focus on. V, you have to split your attention between three half-baked ideas and each one seems like an afterthought. "Little customization" means fuckall if you game on PC and use mods like I do. The color was far from terrible - it was exactly as it should be: grey and dingy like the city it satirized (NYC). "Stupid driving" actually required skill - V is as easy as any Saints Row game. The little kids loved that. I'll agree the shooting could've been better, but we're talking about a game which came out a decade ago. Again, I liked V, but IV was objectively better...

I like this whole game its very realistic and smooth when playing it

GTA 4 has much better vehicle handling than 5, the best of any GTA game. really fun!

Ali Abdul Qadir tbh it was shitty, i lost missions countless times because the handling was so crappy and i overturned a lot.
