What a race. This is why attending Goodwood is high on my bucket list.
So sad we couldn’t make the end 😢 epic race!

The 81 car didn't move before the flag moved so If they call that a jump & the start is supposed to be on the flag "drop" then the flag movement should start from the raised position not the lowered position.

That was very cruel decision. He moved just as the flag came down from its highest point. If anything he was to perfect on the start. He needs to go drag racing 😂
Nothings better than watching classic GT Cars duke it out!
The Chevrons are gorgeous little things.

…like a 550 front end with a 908 rear.
the driving of those two Chevrons is top level.
Chevron absolutely nailed that race start. Might have been a hair early at most, but if this was 100% period correct then half the grid would have jumped the start by just a “hair” 😂
Watched this live over the weekend and the whole meeting was absolutely brilliant. This race was fabulous and I'd watch any of the Goodwood racing over F1 every day of the week. Amazing (and really interesting) cars, really talented field. Proper racing that. Top work GRRC! 👏

Proper racing this is. No strategies and undercuts in pits. Just 3 peddles and maximum fuel usage.

errmmm...... One thing race car _fans_ love, is to see cars raced. Apart from this observation being, essentially, redundant - we don't need to anthropomorphise cars, no matter how much we like them.
I was atop the pits watching it all-epic racing!!!

That must have been so awesome!! I am in the USA so it is a bit tough to get to the celebration. I am restoring a 1928 Morgan /GN special race car soon as I start my KZread channel called machines and Motors. I have been assembling a machine shop to support my building of pre war racers. Hope to see you there...
It’s nice to see Chevrons doing ‘it’. Everyone has to love a GT40 though - even if they aren’t as dynamic as the others
that green no. 33 GT-40 is just beautiful.

Wow! Real racing with respect for the classic machines.
glad these cars are racing and racing hard.
FANTASTIC Racing!!
start and opening lap.....you just don't know where to look for all that beauty and raw power......fantastic.....more please....
What a Race!!, Turn it up for full effect
OMG. What an epic race from start to finish! Absolutely action packed but respectful as well. Loved it. Goodwood always delivers 👏👏👏
the race: 11 out of ten (pure gold❤) commentating: 4 (due to male voice loosing touch with activities) drone shots 1 ( get better drone, better lens or focus properly) overall: incredible activities, formula one eat your heart out 😊 big THANK YOU , kept me glued to the screen till the last seconds ❤
Fabulous Race . A shame about Kirkaldy , he would have been a Worthy Winner with that performance .
Not enough tire and plenty of horsepower makes great racing.
Ahhh the cars of my youth ... Lovely!
Beats a current F1 race any day!
Yeah, the GT40 is not designed for this track. Give it some open road and watch it disappear into the distance. That's why they switched from the 289 H.O. to the 7 liters of brute force.
Group 7 sports racers ( early Can-Am cars ) are always going to beat GT40s built for endurance sports car racing.
The duel between those two Chevrons was epic.
greatest race, wonderful Lola’s
Great race!
Shame there was no replay of the start to show how the penalty was judged.
Great race. Was not familiar with the Chevron B8 but, wow, what an impressive little car considering it's a 4-cyl.
I love those Chevy powered Lola's .
I'm afraid I'm neither a Ferrari nor a Ford fan, GT40's yeah, nothing against them, so it's great to see the likes of Chevrons etc
My brother had many a battle with a chevron b8 when he was racing his lotus 23b in the 70s.
I didn't see Brundle in the black GT40 being left in the dust until obviously something happened either to him or the car. REMEMBER as well that it isn't a 427 powered GT40. Otherwise, he would no doubt have achieved the lead.
Proper race cars...
Surely we can agree that the Cooper Monaco is both the moral victor and the one we'd all want to take home??
Bolton's Finest!
Amazing... I hope he was given the win... easy to see there was no jump. Would this be the group that included Lotus 47 back in the day? I am partial, as a Europa owner.
@UKMechanic

It was a jump. He went when the flag was stationary before it was dropped.
If F1 returned to anywhere like as exciting as this, it would dominate sports coverage round the world.
JUMP START
A tiny Mk1 GT40, does the engine make more than 300hp? And the rear tyres, 205`s? Quite a bit from the US made GT40 Mk2`s 550hps and 295 rears
How did Kirkaldy's car get through scrutineering? Both door windows are out of their frames from the get go, driver's door moreso.
Back maker had to watch
Was David Addison part of the commentary team ? I’ve not watched all of this years meeting!
lit
Jumped the start because its the Drop of the Flag that symbolises the Start, not the lifting of the flag before the drop.
What a fight! Shame Simmonds spoiled it by taking out Bellinger.
Is there an english version , i mean an undertandable one
As the GT40 was technically a Lola anyway I’d say this was a decent result for us brits .
whats a b8 doing in this race
what powerplant do those little Chevron's run?

This isn't the USA, please stop giving the numbers only, give us the car type and engine info. Not always eg engine type of the 129 Cooper (ford ,chevy ,climax?)
Chevron B8 ford, BMW?
If you say you start on the flag drop. The flag clearly drops from the starters hand before he raised it. To the announcers. If a driver is aware of a penalty and backs off and loses positions, he will not have a reason to disputes the penalty. In this case if Kirkaldy potions for the penalty to be reviewed and the penalty is overturned he will be the winner. Which he should be.
The 40 seems to be running om awfully narrow tires, isnt it??
I think Kirkaldy(81) just timed his launch perfectly, I don't think he jumped. BTW: whoever titled this video needs their eye's examined.
A ten second penalty should be served immediately. They should not be allowed to continue to interrupt the race of the cars that are 'ahead' of them due to their infringement.
Please can you stop wringing the necks of these cars ? Neither pleasant nor apposite. Racing is amazing 11 out of 10 to all .

ford bought a racing history,, they used english cars in both times, the gt40 was a lola and the ac cobra was a bristol. they would have been even faster if they ran chev motors back in the day. most of these cars in this race are 1 million bucks+

The gt40’s didn’t start winning until they were sent to the US and completely reworked by ford and its subcontractors kar kraft ,Shelby and Holman and moody. Also Shelby went to Chevy first with the cobra idea and they didn’t want anything to do with it

@@travislostaglia8861 The only reason the GT40s didn't start winning until they were sent to the US was because the corporate dickheads at Dearborn wouldn't listen to what John Wyer and Eric Broadley were telling them. If they had then the transmission, suspension and aerodynamics problems the car had could have been fixed much earlier.
