Thats awesome he got 3 good years inside with companions.I looked at the date and said well he's long gone and then saw he lived 3 years past.Thats fantastic.

Afterwards, Grandpa Mason was happy to dedicate the rest of his life to helping them socialize other felines. Sadly, this chapter of his life ended on Thursday, September 19th, 2019. Surrounded by his doting family and his favorite comforts, the decision was made to let him cross the rainbow bridge peacefully.

I just read that Grandpa Mason has died. And he spent his last hours of his life cuddling kittens, just as he would have wanted. RIP, old man, and thanks for being such a good Grandcat!

Mason's kidneys had been starting to decline, and unfortunately, they just suddenly shut down. He spent one last night surrounded by kittens and love on his favorite bed, and in TinyKittens fashion, packed his TinySuitcase with memories, love, and familiar things- and with the help of his vet, went peacefully over the rainbow bridge with no pain. It's our belief he's busy sending Costco-sized piles of kittens our way now- TK has seventeen kittens in-house now... and we know he's watching. Enjoy the tuna, cheezburgers and sunbeams up there, Grandpaw. You've earned every one.

He was expected to survive about 4 or so months when he was rescued. He made it almost three years... He was 15ys old when rescued. That's nearly unheard of in feral colonies. Mason... Showing the world how its done. R. I. P grampa!

Aura who is one of the kittens in one of the clips (tortie tuxie that is pouncing sideways towards Grandpa Mason) is now the one teaching these kittens to become better house cats. She was born with a cleft pallet and Shelly tube fed her for 5 weeks straight, every 2-3hours. She eventually got the surgery to close her pallet but due to some holes and her ability to get infections quickly, she is still a medical foster and remains with Shelly, helping all the kittens. She is also Cassidy's aka Puff-Puffs support animal for whenever he has to travel to see specialists.

To see Grandpa Mason playing with those kittens made me cry like a little girl. T am so grateful for people like this that see value even in an old life. Thank you so much.

I have made many stories about Mason and Little Ginger Hatch ( the one with a shirt). That was on the direct chat. I did it for a month then a jealous viewer started complaining. We had so much fun. Many remember me. My Cat was my name. Mason was The Admiral James T Mason who was working in the Cat Navy and he was chewing tobacco and spitting while talking. He had many secret friends: Like Puff Puff and his favorite kitten was Little Hatch. A cute and very polite kitten who was delivering the newspaper in Kitten City. He had a little trike and a little wagon for his newspaper. He was sharing his kitten money with a poor squirrel family and buying them some little crushed peanut every day. He was also taking care of an old grandma cat by placing a little bag of mint in her apron pocket while she was sleeping on her rocking chair on her porch. They had many adventures. Unfortunatly, one jealous person had ruined everything.

I will always remember Grandpa Mason 💙 What a truly beautiful ending for that precious old guy. I’m so happy he knew what it was to love and be loved.

In my last year of college I lived in an apartment complex that had multiple stray cats. There was this one orange male that was huge and battle scarred. He would sleep in the hallway with the kittens and if another cat would go near them he would chase them down and beat the crap out of them. He also would sometimes come in to my apartment and plop down on my lap and go to sleep purring. He was like a wise old soul

Garden Joy This is true....I am older, my kids are grown, and I don't ever see them or my grandson. With every passing day, my purpose seems o become less and less. @@wellesradio care to explain it to me? I see animal activists on a ton of posts about cats and dogs saying things like, "if only everyone cared this much about chickens/cows/pigs," etc. Which I agree with, but very often (judging by the replies) it turns people off because people feel like they're being shamed for caring about pets and at the same time not necessarily being vegan. This in turn can and has made a lot of people care less about animal rights in general because they're offended or annoyed. That's where I was coming from on that reply.

A lovely story.

He finally got to experience life as a loved and well cared for kitty, in a house with babies that he opened up magnificently, giving him a quality of life he'd never known. Hopefully, with animal welfare becoming more public, future kitties will be rescued whilst still young and get the chance to live safely with people and other animals as their new family.

He only had 4 months to live. Goes to show you that the will to live alone plays a huge factor in staying alive. When he saw those babies he knew he had a responsibility in life to raise these babies. Gave him purpose, a reason to fight his bad health and keep trucking for his babes. Refuse to just give up and let it just take him.

That reminds me of my grandpa, he fell a few times before and broke some bones and got internal bleeding on his brain. Luckily he pushed through it because he was to stubborn to stay at the hospital and said he needed to go home and watch after his family, his purpose is to watch after his family he says. Doctor's and nurses are always surprised at how fast he'll recover. He's 90 years old and sings songs to me in Polish and will always smile like a little kid when he will tease my grandma.😂 It's amazing how an animal or human can recover from something because of them finding their purpose.♡

Grandpa Mason is still going strong! Every new kitten seems to give him more life. Mutual adoration, kittens and Grampa.

Wonderful to hear that. I saw maybe 6 wks ago that he was still doing well. I truly believe that his mentoring gives him an additional reason to live. He is comfortable now since his ailments and injuries were addressed, and loving life! Hopefully his kidney condition has receded. Great to see him playing too. Is it possible he is not as old as was thought? Anyway, keep up the great work. Give him lots of kittens.

To me this old cat was waiting for his chance. He got a new life and a bunch of kittens. Instant transformation. His old past life is just history. Great and sweet story.

I had a neutered male cat named Bubbie who used to play with kittens in the house. I Never heard Any them scream in pain from him biting too hard during play time. He was my favorite, and slept on top of me every night. That's Bubbie in my profile pic.

So happy grandpa Mason is still around. He is an angel.

Grandpa mason, the absolute legend RIP legend

May we all have someone as kind as this lady in our lives 🥰

You can tell the reason he’s lived so far past his initial prognosis is he’s got something to fight for now, kittens to help and teach

Everything I've learned, I learned from Grandpa's kitten flattening paw.

This story brings me to tear everytime. I'm so happy that a poor feral cat like Mason got the opportunity to live his last years loved and surrounded by kittens that made him feel young again.

I see this every once in a while and it always warms my heart and puts a smile on my face.He had such a great life !😺😺😺

he is beauty he is grace but most importantly, he cleans the lunch off of his kittens face

Grandpa Mason's been gone for almost a year, but his story still makes me cry. So bittersweet. Imagine living on the streets, fighting for every little comfort and need for years. Scarred. Getting sick... and then someone comes along and catnaps you, and takes you to a warm place You think you've gone to Heaven - complete with tiny kitten angels. That's what Mason remembers 💞

This makes me want to get a cat and foster kittens at the same time

It's really hard fostering bottle babies. Although I still kind of want to do it. But if you don't really want to get a cat you could volunteer at your local shelter to help socialize the cats there. Which basically means you just get to play with all the cats and kittens. Dogs too. With the dogs sometimes you can take them out for the day. To go places like the dog park. They wear a bandana saying they are up for adoption. It's a way to help find them homes. I don't think you could do that with the cats but you might be able to do a weekend foster for one.

Be careful with that, this cat is an exception. Usually older cats feel like killing or hurting the babies they don't know so pay attention every second until they get used to each other.

if you don’t have the time for fostering, volunteering at shelters is a perfect alternative, since you can basically come whenever they’re open for volunteering hours.

Aloha MD Sometimes the kittens will try to nurse on him. Check out Tiny Kittens HQ. It's live and you can find clips of the kittens Shelly and the staff have taken care of. Some of the babies has pass but they were loved and given the best opportunity to live💖🐾

There's actually quite a few male cats that have cared for kittens. Especially in places that foster kittens and have to bottle feed them. One shelter found a cat family on their porch. It was quite the surprise later when they found out that the 'mama' was actually a boy cat. It's like they just know that the kittens need them. And it does increase their chances of survival.

True. Have you ever been to Tiny kittens on you tube? It's incredible. It live streams 24\7 the other day Mason was carrying some new kittens like a momma cat?? So cute. Shelly, the young lady who runs s this organization has saved many cats. She has one, Cassidy (aka) Puff with no back legs and does great, and then there's Aura, born last year with a severe cleft pallet. Shelly had to tube feed her around the clock for months, she figured out how to get her to sway llow kbbles and got a special water bottle and taught her to drink from it till ground breaking surgery! Talk about dedication!!!

I'm so glad that Grandpaw Mason got to have some great years with those hilarious kittens. LOVE the name GRANDPAW too, I mean I know it's a cat version of grandpa, but it sounds like a Masonic Lodge name too!!! LOL 😆 And, of course, his name was Mason!!! He was a very sweet old boy. He'll be busy up in Heaven looking after all the kittens. Thank you so much for looking after Mason and making his last years so happy. ❤ He really LOOKS happy in this video. I completely accept that it is sarcasm, now that we know, and there's no reason for fighting. But I can't begin to agree with you more on your final statements. There will be a battle if (especially, but not exclusively) kittens (treated properly) are involved. Especially those rescue videos, gah, they just clench my heart, dude.

It's really because no one can see you face, hear the inflections in your voice or the contortion in your expression, sarcasm is supposed to be cutting but when all you have is letters it really can be. Not that your comment was, of course, just something to consider.

So sad to hear Grandpa Mason passed away a few days ago (09-19-19). RIP Grandpa Mason... You were well loved and will be greatly missed.

Anders Termansen just a different way of doing things, when I studied in Norway I had to get used to the other way around. the one thing that is ridiculous is that we use Fahrenheit and the rest of the world uses Celsius. It’s v confusing

The only reason he lived longer was bc of the LOVE and the happiness u gave him and allowed him to have. Thank u so much for what u have done and what u do for all the fur babies. Young and old. I wish I could foster. But I would fail every time.

I have watched this video of Mason the Grandfather cat and all of his other videos well over 200 times and they never get old. I just love male cats with big softball like heads. Seeing a big old, tough street cat become a kind, loving, caring, gentle foster grandfather to kittens just warms my heart and brings me joy. I’m so glad that Mason lived much longer than expected and got love on and be loved by so many cute, precious and adorable kittens.

Omg!!! Just when i was about to give up on humanity, the Dodo comes in, guns blazing, saying-hey check out this old cat take care of foster kittens and the human who made this all possible! Darn it!!!

It's interesting how he teaches them "manners," yet he grew up rough on the street. Mason helps the kittens be excellent candidates for forever homes.

He’s essentially teaching them how not to end up on the streets. But i dont believe gramps mason was always a feral cat. He has an indoor class about him, i think he probably had an owner and got outside by accident and just got lost. But hes interacted with people before he got rescued. Glad hes back indoors. ☺️😸

@@LilSnowieGG Trust me, Mason is an ex-feral. Definitely not a stray, and he'd definitely never been an owned cat before he was trapped. Go watch TinyKittens, where Dodo got this footage from, and watch videos of Mason shortly after he was trapped. That's not a stray, that's a true feral tom. He still doesn't let humans pet him for more than a few seconds; he mostly just interacts with Shelly's other cats and the foster kittens.

I absolutely adore this story of Grandpa Mason. He was just an amazing older cat once he came out of his shell finally. Everyone, Including animals has your very own unique talent or ability in Grandpa Mason's was caring for and loving kittens. From the time I first heard about Mason until after he died I followed his story I read everything about him I could find he even know so many times it was just the same thing over and over but every once in a while I would find a new video or a new little story about him in a newspaper or on their website. I was happy that he was able to live as long as he did after his prognosis of only 4 months to live and he ended up living what was it almost 2 years I think. And yet he was still gone too early, too soon, And I bet the kittens that were still around him when he died really missed him after he was gone. The little story about him collecting kittens and carrying him into his yurt was really funny and the video to go along with it was one that I had watched numerous times. I love the photos of him absolutely completely covered by kittens I forget how many they were on him he was somewhere between 7 and 9 I think but those are great photos. I miss Mason and I suspected I always will thank you Tiny Kittens and Shelly for letting us know about him And keeping us aware of his antics with all the kittens.

He's so cute and gentle and he finally got what he deserved his whole life. That makes me feel very happy for him and thanks to the good hearts who helped him to live rest of his days in peace.
