OH sorry to hear that. I guess that I will just have to continue to enjoy your youtube channel. I was so mesmerized by valentine and big louie, that I started filling every available space with dahlias. Then I started watching Murray Thompson, Dave Spenser and I knew I was hooked. So many beautiful varieties that we can't get in the states.

Valentine is in the US as it came from there, its called Kenora Wildfire, due to some confusion years ago.

Love you videos - sp interesting. So much work!! Do you ever have your tubers for sale? I/ve never heard you say it, but with the amount you have, what do you possibly do with them. Linda from USA

No I don't sell them. I use what I need, and give some to local growers. The rest are natural waste.

Yes that would be fine, as long as it doesn't get to cold.

Hey Dave, would your ground still not be poisoned from last years giants...? Or would the rain wash it out over time or have you changed the plot..?

That was 2020 with the straw I git it off and opened up the ground all winter. The best exhibit at the National in 2021 was plants grown in the same ground which showed no effects from the year before. I think as I removed the straw and it was not mixes with the soil, acting quick saved the plots.

Hi Dave, How often do you water the cuttings in your vitapod propagator ? also the tubers & potted on cuttings ? I'm finding mine are drying out as we have had some very hot days down here in Devon . I'm really worried about the cuttings damping off if i overwater them, many thanks Graham

Why don’t you try no dig? Just spread the compost or well rotted manure on top of the soil and plant your dahlias into that ,,

It doesn't give deep enough cultivation for how I grow my Dahlias. No dig is easier but is not better for the plants in my opinion.

@@DaveGillamDahlias you’ll be surprised,, professional flower farmers use no dig ,, bloom and gray,, common farm flowers ,, why not do a comparison bed one year ? Will save you a lot of back breaking digging ,, good luck with your blooms

I know what you mean, but they are doing it as labour saving with prob not much difference to there quality, but they are not growing them to the standard I require. Easy is not always best for the end result.
