Breathtaking Raised Bed Garden FULL of Veg & Flowers (Only 6 Months Old!)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

On a north-facing mountainside in South Wales, Liz Zorab is creating the garden of her dreams that defies the odds. Using her years of growing experience, her new raised bed kitchen garden is full of food, flowers, and wildlife. I visited her back in the summer to pick up some great tips for any gardener looking to combine colour with crops and create a space for nature. I hope you are inspired by it as much as I am! Huw, you've created another beautiful video, thank you for capturing the feel of my garden so exquisitely. And thank you to your viewers for the kind and encouraging comments. I need to apologise for an error and for misinforming viewers. Earl Grey tea is made using the oil from a Bergamot orange. As I've said so many times - with gardening I learn something new every single day!

A long time ago when I was just a boy, I'd often ride my bike, sometimes with a couple of friends, to my grandmother's house. She would inevitably have us doing some garden chores for her under supervision, of course. We'd mow, weed, prune, turn the compost, carry things here and there, whatever Gran would request. We'd be rewarded with (my favourite) a corned beef and salad sandwich, a glass of milk and her legendary Anzac biscuits for lunch. The sandwiches were almost always 'spiced' up with nasturtium leaves. I loved my gran, not just for her warm smiles, hugs, corned beef and sandwiches, Anzac biscuits, but also for instilling a love of gardening.

When you said it feels like my garden, tears in eyes absolutely beautiful. This is how I feel about gardening. I have three beds that we’ve made mostly free with logs, cardboard and compost. We are finally at a place we can expand and this is all I’ve been looking for. The inspiration to make it mine.

Thank you!! both for the film and the wonderful display of flowers grown in colour clumps for max effect. NB Full sun !! I'm already collecting seeds and plants for new veggie/ flower beds in a sunny open space. My 100% favourite garden is on Vancouver Island and is a haphazard mix of fruit, flowers with veggies close enough to be pollinated. That and this film is just another nudge to get the raised beds ready for the spring. The Moors introduced aromatic herb gardens to Andalusia with chamomile, lily, lavender, lemon, lotus, apple, melon, mint, poppy, moss rose, rosemary and of course orange. Gardens that give pleasure go back a long way!!

Dear Liz, I like kale this way: free the kale leaves from their stems. Put the leaves in boiling water for a minute. Drain and chop the kale. Fry a decent amount of diceg onions in some olive oil, add the kale and stew for 10-15 minutes. Not too soft! Add a spoonful of starch in water and boil again. Now add some salt, kale needs salt. I like my kale with a speciality called "Kasseler", which is lean pickeled and smoked pork. In Germany, we do also have all kind of sausage with the kale, and of course potatoes. It would be great to cook it for you! What a beautiful garden you have. I decided I must have more flowers next year. Sending lots of love, Y

I love Liz. I have flowers like her as well for cutflowers as well as for pollinators between the veggies. The old mans at the allotment are not happy bunnies about it since they don`t see it as produce and its messy in there eyes ( no clean shovelled rows of monoculture). Still presisting since it makes me so happy ;-)

Thank you Huw for sharing Liz's garden with us. It's inspired me to dedicate one of my Allotment plot beds to flowing annuals and perennials.

Inspiring. I've saved it to my watch list to view during the long, dark months of winter, here in Wisconsin. Thank you for capturing the beauty of gardening!

Lovely video! NOTE: Earl Grey tea uses oil from the rind from the Bergamot orange for its flavor. From sedonaaromatics: "The reason that bee balm is also given the name bergamot is that the aroma reminded the botanist, Dr Nicholas Monardes - whose name was given to the Latin name of the plant, Monarda - of the citrus aroma of bergamot (Citrus bergamia)."
