I believe there's lots of benefits to growing squash vertically. They include easier access to fruit, longer production for the plant, better pest management, and overall less disease. This video focuses on what are often called bush-type squash varieties including yellow summer, zucchini, and marrow.

Love the videos, I had a terrible issue last year with powdery mildew on my squash plants so I started researching solutions. I’ve since then cleared a few trees to allow more sunshine to my garden. I also stumbled across a couple of studies on calcium silicate in the form of Vansil-W10 wollastonite. It’s being used in commercial agriculture on different plants. Supposedly it helps with powdery mildew but also helps in nutrient uptake and provides calcium. I also read that while silicate is very prevalent in topsoil it is not so prevalent in compost. I’ve never seen anyone do a direct side by side comparison with and without but I thought I would see if anyone else on here has. Thanks for the great videos.

Thank you! Interesting on calcium silicate. I've found that the potassium bicarbonate (wine/beer making) does a better job than sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). I notice a pretty big difference using it as a fungicide preventative. I did a bunch of research before applying it as a microgreens ingredient. I'm uploading a video, in 2 days, where I show using it, more on tomatoes, but also squash. You might consider it?? Appreciate your time and chatting with me.
