Grow Pistachio Tree From Grocery Pistachios | Seed Germination Results
Growing pistachio plants from grocery pistachios or those from your kitchen at home is possible if they are unroasted and unsalted. Yes we can germinate pistachios available in your kitchen and grow plants out of these. Will also show you the tips and hacks in this step by step video with the results at the end of the video.
Before we start the process, I would like to tell you that we are just doing this for gardening fun and experimenting and to have the feeling of possessing a pistachio tree in your collection. Because, similar to other fruit trees like for example citrus and apple, a pistachio tree grown from seed may not bear fruits for the whole of its lifetime. The main reason is you need at least one male and one female pistachio trees for pollination and fruit production.
Having said that, now we will look into the step by step process you can follow for successful pistachio seed germination :

I dont understand yet. You said "Tree grown from seed may not bear fruits, BECAUSE you need 2 trees (one male & one female)". I see you grow/germinate many seeds. Why dont we just pick 2 of them (1 male & 1 female) to grow in the backyard. SO, tree grown from the seeds, we need at least 2 trees, can bear fruits too. Am I right?

Wow! Check this out. I love pistachios. I have a bag of them in the kitchen. I'm going to get started right away on trying to germinate some of them. I have been planting food-producing trees in my yard. I can see a lot of benefits in doing so, including shade, food, windbreaks, and wood. So far, in my yard is a pear, pecan, olive, and apricot tree. The pear tree is old and produces fruit every year. The birds get to eat most of them. All the other trees are too young to bear fruit. Some of them, like the olive tree, may not bear fruit in the remainder of my life. That's okay because someone else can have it to enjoy.
I will soon be on my pistachio planting journey. Thanks for the tip
U said so beautifully. I love it.
thank you for this video, sir! this is fun and very informative.
I have a pack of unroasted nuts open from a few weeks ago and will give this a go with them, and try with some fresh ones if they don't work. This is exciting, great video! I'll check back with results 🤞

The kind of tree is important too. If everyone just planted evergreens everywhere it would cause more problems than it solved. We need slow-growing, deciduous trees. A lot of people don't seem to realise that evergreens actually consume oxygen and produce CO2 during the darker months. As with everything, balance is key.
Good one

Pistachio trees are affected by phylloxera nematodes here in the Americas, and are always grafted onto a Chinese pistachio rootstock, which are nematode resistant.

It is possible to harvest, but after a long period of 8 years or more, other than if you vaccinate trees after germination, it will give you fruits after 4 years

Thank you for your tips on growing pistachios! You said that most of them growing from seeds can not bring fruits.... so what’s the need of planting them? Should we plant more then one to get them pollinated and produce fruits like we do with some other trees that are not selfpolinating? Please respond! Thank you!
@GardenTips

Yes if you grow more plants, definitely chances of Male and female and pollination 👍

@@GardenTips In the beginning you said, it's like "citrus tree". I have orange tree, only one tree, and it bears fruit every year. I think you r wrong about that. You need to have experience before come to a conclusion.

Someone spilled a bag of pistachios outside our apartment building and swept them into the freshly mulched landscaping. I guess the seeds really liked the mulch because they started to sprout. I saved two of them and put them in planters. Let’s see how long they survive.
Do you still need to soak the pistachio seeds before stratification?
Thanks a lot for your video! Your paper tissue method is very close to the one I'm using for mangoes, durian or cashew nuts. By the way, your link to the site where you can buy them does not work. I ordered some from Turkey. I got them yesterday, so let's give it a try!

Thanks for your time in this video , my question is can I dry the seeds ? And for how long seeds stay good to plant them ? And how can we tell which one male or which one female seeds ??
@theworldofagriculture4878
2 жыл бұрын
Seeds can be preserved, and male and female seeds cannot be known until after germination and grafting seedlings
