How Are Pistachios Grown And Harvested? Cultivation Of Pistachios And Harvesting Machine

#farming #farm #
Pistachios, one of the most beloved and nutritious nuts in the world, have been cultivated for centuries. Today, the United States has emerged as the leading producer of this delicious nut, accounting for approximately 40% of world production. The production of pistachios is a lucrative business that generates significant revenue for farmers and processors alike. The total value of the U.S. pistachio crop in 2022 reached an impressive 1.9 billion dollars. The commercial production of pistachios is mainly centered in California's San Joaquin and Sacramento Valley regions, where growers produce nearly 300,000 tons of this crunchy delight annually, accounting for more than 98% of the domestic crop. Although Arizona and New Mexico also produce pistachios, their production does not match the scale of California's. In 2022, California pistachio growers achieved a record-breaking harvest, producing 1.03 billion pounds of nuts, with a farm gate value of over 1.8 billion dollars. It's clear that pistachios are not only a delicious snack but also a vital contributor to the U.S. agricultural industry.
Pistachio consumption is big in the US, but what does the process of cultivation and harvesting these pistachios look like?

1,362 gallons of water per pound of pistachio. This video says that in 2022 California alone produced 1.03 Billion pounds. And there was a drought in California that year

Instead of growing grids of Pistachios and other orchard trees, would creating hexagons lay out as the tree as a center piece for a symbiotic multifaceted biome area, work? Could it be feasible?

And that that adds up to 1,362 gallons per pound of pistachio. This video says that in 2022 California alone produced 1.03 Billion pounds. The best part, there was a drought in California from 2020 to 2022. Oh and they also grow oranges

Pistachios are not my favorite. They often have an inconsistent taste and texture, and I find them to be less satisfying than other nuts.
