Groves Trial Day 4 - Daniel Groves Takes to the Stand

A mother and father in Scioto County, Ohio stand trial in the death of their infant son. Young Dylan Groves was found dead 30 feet down a well last year, prosecutors said. Authorities blame the boy’s parents-mother Jessica Groves, and father Daniel Groves-for what happened. The defendants are charged with aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping, endangering children, tampering with evidence, interference with custody, gross abuse of a corpse, and four counts of felonious assault.
Problems stemmed right from Dylan’s day of birth on January 10, 2019. The boy was born with drugs in his system, authorities claim. Daniel Groves later got the child back after showing that he followed regulations, but the defendant allegedly started missing important dates, including court dates and doctor’s appointments.
Investigators claim that both defendants bolted on a four-wheeler when authorities dropped by the home for a checkup on May 20, according to WLTW. Deputies obtained a search warrant, got Jessica Groves to give herself up quickly, but Daniel Groves was only arrested after a six-hour standoff. Authorities said they found $42,000 of stolen items at the residence, and later found the late infant in a well.
Deputies said Dylan Groves didn’t even make it to a full three months of age. They claim there’s evidence showing he’d been dead since March.
How Baby Dylan Was Found In the Well:
A coroner determined that the victim had been slain. The child sustained several bone fractures, had been wrapped in plastic bags with duct tape, then put in milk crates that were wrapped in chains, and other bindings, according to WSAZ. The crates were weighted down with rocks and a weight, authorities said. As in his birth, Groves died with drugs in his body, according to the coroner. This allegedly included methamphetamine.

Not only was he probably still going through drug withdrawals but hed been beaten & had many broken bones & bruises. Broken ribs are excruciatingly painful. Hed have felt it everytime he took a breath. He had also been taken from the only family who had actually taken proper care of him & loved on him & he was thrown into a drug addled violent home with people who didnt properly care for him. This sweet innocent little baby deserved so much better than these monsters.

you know you need more training to be a hair stylist than a parent. there should be laws and testing done on parents. Although, here clearly are a bunch of ignorant goonies they could have easily given the baby up at the hospital and go back to there drug bingeing lifestyle. they didnt need to swing Dylan in the air by his leg and throw him against the wall then stomp on him. this is the only way he could have that many injuries. there is clearly more to the story no one is telling. A dream catcher huh? no way!!

First of all, if this baby was born with drugs in his system, the baby is removed from his or her family's home. Therefore the baby should not have been released with his Mom and Dad until he was out of woods from withdrawal 's from these drugs. Why didn't the hospital keep him? In so much as the Mom and Dad had been doing Methanmetiphine during her pregnancy and the baby being born with this drug in his system why was the child not taken from the parents, placed in foster care and for the forseeable future until they got clean themselves? This is not in anyway excusing what the Mom did intentionally or unintentionally but the hospital dropped the ball.

It was mainly meth. As I was terrified my children would be taken i managed to maintain for years but still my children suffered. They always do. My greatest grief was the facing the lie of being a good mother. My greatest joy is being a grandmother in recovery and assisting my children. I'm so proud of you. Your life is just beginning.

Years ago when my grandson was a running toddler, I was taking him and my granddaughter, his twin sister to a local "Play Land" for kids. On the way he unbuckled his car seat harness, crawled up on the flat deck under the rear window. I pulled over, scolded him and buckled him back in. The fourth time I had to pull over to buckle him in, I took him out of his car seat and paddled his butt over a thick huggie. It didn't happen again, and we had a great time. My grandson is now a 6 foot 16 year old. I'm now 67, and have literally been upset to tears over it all these years. He laughed and says he doesn't remember it, but I do. How this couple could beat their baby to death is beyond my ability to comprehend it.

As a mother of 3 children I can say 2 month old baby will cry from slightest discomfort such as a scratchy clothing. And when they are in hurt they are usually screaming "bloody murder". You can not miss the pain crying in a baby. This 2 monsters let their child suffer so much and endure such a horrific pain, eventually killing him. I wish someone would hurt them as much. And to add, I had rib fracture, the pain it caused was unbearable for first 4 weeks. All I could do is sit in a same position. Moving my arms or laying down was impossible. Breathing was very hard to do. This baby was in so much pain, it bring tears to my eyes. As a parent you do everything in your power to protect your children from harm. But not this 2 monsters. She really truly starts crying. And yes, I completely believe the crying is for herself, for the situation she is in. But even without sound it's incredible to see them. His body language and facial clues are totally pulling away from her. While she looks like she wants to grab him and hold on. Whatever he keeps telling her, probably "We are screwed. We are going to jail forever ", is really getting to her. In the end he does put his arm around her and pats her shoulder, looks like he said something soothing, and withdrew. It's so interesting to watch them, even without sound. But, I'd pay big money to read what she's been writing on that freaking yellow notepad! Lol

Then he says: " I was afraid because she said she would blame me." when asked why he didn't report his son's death to child services. Sudden infant death syndrome clearly implies that it's no one's fault; the child simply died. Well if he honestly thought that the child died of SIDS why would his wife threaten to blame him? It just doesn't work with a dead baby thrown down a well and him not taking her garbage anymore. It would have been far better if he had called 9-1-1 when Dylan died and taken his chances with the truth. In that way, most of those charges would not have been filed and he would not be spending most of the rest of his life in prison. @@pamelamorris3148 huh? That's not true. What trial are you watching? Not this one. Mother, father, Dylan & CW were all in the home when Daniel Jr. came home from school...late hours 🤦🏻‍♀️ A neighbor told police multiple times the parents leave early AM on the 4-wheeler and come back late at night. Father knew when Daniel Jr. didn't get off the school bus. Police apprehended the parents starting at 4:30PM. I'm hoping you're trolling

Daniel's testimony is chilling. Absolutely chilling. He showed no emotion whatsoever when recalling seeing Jessica hit Dylan 4 times in the head. No anger, no regret, no sorrow. No one except Andrea Bolling shed a tear for Dylan. I think I hate this man more than I hate Jessica.

Funny dad! Not once did he think of picking up his baby when he was crying? Knowing what his wife's issues were, I am really surprised that it never occurred to him to see the baby! I have never known a father so distanced!
