Mine had some as a puppy, however I changed her diet and her bowls to stainless steel bowls. She now never has them. I also make sure to take off the eye crust that can be on there.

A dog should be completely bathed and combed out before cutting commences, so likely, the stains were taken care of before clipping.

Ive watched several videos on grooming this evening and yours is the best! Can't drive due to a couple surgeries and I have a new Maltese puppy that is in dire need of grooming, so since I used to cut hair I figured I can try my hand at grooming my dog til he can get to the groomer. Thanks for posting!!

If only my puppy stayed that still😣 but i think he is getting better at it now

It takes a lot of patients and sometimes two or three sessions to even finish a puppy. Your puppy will be still.

I have a six month old Maltese . I took her for her first grooming and was not that happy with the way it came out. It looked as good as I could had done myself . Payed sixty dollars with tip. I think I Will take that money and purchase a grooming table , tools and do it myself. Thanks for the video🙏🏼✌🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Jo Free or give another groomer a chance. Too many people think they can groom their own dog and do more harm than good when they realize it’s not easy.

Try it yourself. Purchase a variety of tools (tiny scissors for @ eyes, curved scissors, thinning shears, straight scissors, large and small electric, but you can do a total scissors cut, takes longer, though) Don't worry about screwing it up bc their hair seems to grow much faster than ours! It takes a little time, but it is so worth it. Besides saving the $, you can style your pup exactly as you wanti, and keep up trims around eyes in between, as you like. Also, tiny dogs are at higher risk w vaccines, and groomers require more than I choose for my maltese. You can do it! (Also, a tip for red/brown eye drainage - a drop of raw apple cider vinegar in water, in a glass bowl stopped it almost immediatley and completely, and it also keeps ticks off of her! :)

Just keep going to a groomer. Belive me your puppy on first visit not going stay still like this one. Probably groomer needs more time to learn your dog how to behave on the table and then can focus more on the haircut. You can buy all the things and try do it by yourself but I more than sure you will waste your money. It looks easy but it's not.

oh my gosh my maltese pup was the exact same age and that’s exactly what happened to me!! all they did was wash and dry her and hardly cut her.

I groom my Bichon & Poodle myself now after several attempts at different groomers. It just takes time & practise. I bought scissors off Amazon so you don’t need anything fancy. It certainly saves money but you need to be patient 😎

are your snap on combs plastic or metal? i have a maltese as well and her hair is so slick that if i use a 13mm plastic comb then it actually comes out longer than 13mm when i brush back out or it barely clips the hair at all. how are you able to actually clip through the hair without having to go over the same spot again?

I use metal snap on combs in my opinion better than plactic. Remember to use combs with blade nr 30 and only after bath. It's immpossible to not clip through the hair without having over the same spot again but 2-3 times that's enough. This is the only way to thorough work

What is the name of the clippers you are using and size blade? I have two Malteses that look identical to the one you are grooming. All I could do was laugh because mine are just like yours.....sooooo cute. I have groomed them myself for the past five years and they are as good as yours. They love their baths etc. so well trained and behave and respond to commands so easily. I have tried three different clippers without any luck. Where did you purchase them?

I'm curious as to why thinning shears were used to do the initial shaping. I have never seen that technique before.

yes, it will but you have to be very patient and calm during grooming, talk to your dog ang give him a prize when he's standing nice, and the most important - you have to be a consistent, dont react when your dog is sceaming or fight just be calm and patient, dont give up soon
