Best advice is to relocate them and delete that plate altogether

Been there on my own Silverado. Ended up having to force the valley plate up over the broken sensors and unscrew them with vise grips. On a side note make sure you cover the intake ports I learned the hard way during the knock sensor replacement some how I dropped the fuel lock retainer into cylinder 3 and hung a valve open ended up having to pull the head to fix it 😅

Also put a bead of silicone in front of each sensor, helps to stop water from getting in there

15ftlbs torque. And it doesn’t matter which brand you get. Even the gm ones don’t last. I think it’s because they are shipped in bags and get thrown around and dropped

Of my 35 years of working on vehicles, I've only had to replace the knock sensor maybe 5 times. I had to blindly install it on 2 Avalanches

I just had to go through that from ebay parts. I had to weld a nut on to mine to remove it. And weld housing on 2nd one to renove. Now dealing with wire issues...smh..😢

I know grip edge stuff is great, but are those GW locking flex heads worth picking up? I already probably have too many ratchets as it is, but a set of three of these isn't too bad...

Cover those intake ports my man! Masking tape is cheap! But definitely been there these don’t work to well with completely rusted ones at that point just pull the valley cover. Its amazing how few mechanics actually torque these down properly! And a lil bead of silicone on the edge and the wires holes typically will keep her clean. Hate following bad repairs man. Can really burn ya day

Knock sensors must always be torqued to exact spec. That is how the sensor is calibrated. Under or over tightened will cause the pressure waves (ping) to either be slowed or allowed in too easily. Both will cause timing to change too early too late or not enough. Never use chinese crap and always replace the knock sensor sub harness when available.
