Best advice is to relocate them and delete that plate altogether

Facts
Been there on my own Silverado. Ended up having to force the valley plate up over the broken sensors and unscrew them with vise grips. On a side note make sure you cover the intake ports I learned the hard way during the knock sensor replacement some how I dropped the fuel lock retainer into cylinder 3 and hung a valve open ended up having to pull the head to fix it 😅

Man... sounds like you should just put the tools down. I wouldn't trust you to fix a pedal bike😂

@@MykeHuntsbet your wife says the same thing when you take a piss.
Also put a bead of silicone in front of each sensor, helps to stop water from getting in there

Yep, tsb out for that.
You let it bite you there too ehh? Fk i feel it and it hurts 😂
RPTs are a life saver. I cannot count how many hours they have made/saved me.
Replace them with original only
15ftlbs torque. And it doesn’t matter which brand you get. Even the gm ones don’t last. I think it’s because they are shipped in bags and get thrown around and dropped
I need that
“Noice”😂
Of my 35 years of working on vehicles, I've only had to replace the knock sensor maybe 5 times. I had to blindly install it on 2 Avalanches

02 avalanche, I drown mine by hitting deep water too fast.
I just had to go through that from ebay parts. I had to weld a nut on to mine to remove it. And weld housing on 2nd one to renove. Now dealing with wire issues...smh..😢
The kits $264. I have crappier kits that don't always work. I'll have to consider it.
I wish they were readily available in Australia

Don't need luck when you have GFORS Extractors 😎
Makes me glad to own a gen iv 🤣
I know grip edge stuff is great, but are those GW locking flex heads worth picking up? I already probably have too many ratchets as it is, but a set of three of these isn't too bad...

I was thinking the same lol
Cover those intake ports my man! Masking tape is cheap! But definitely been there these don’t work to well with completely rusted ones at that point just pull the valley cover. Its amazing how few mechanics actually torque these down properly! And a lil bead of silicone on the edge and the wires holes typically will keep her clean. Hate following bad repairs man. Can really burn ya day
Relocate them outside the intake
I love my gear 120xp stuff
Replacing Knock sensors in a Lexus v6 aren’t much fun either
How does the back of the valves look?
The factory ones are also made in china, had to go threw 9 of them before we found 2 that worked always test them before you install them.
had a srt of dormans fail after 2 months got 2 acdelcos and havent looked back
What do they do? Other than sensing an engine knock , rod knock .
Are the intake valves exposed or am i looking at this wrong
No impact gun for installing 😢
knock sensor delete 😅
What do you think of the new gearwrench locking flex head ratchet?
Antiseeze
Sounds like my wifes no bitching sensors.Never work!
Too tight? What is too tight? I give everything with threads an entire tube of red loctite and 20 ugga-duggas. I've never had a single bolt come loose. Who taught you guys how to work on cars? Fred Flintstone?
Mr Uh. How many uh times are you uh gonna uh say uh
Kid you not. You will not find a quality made knock sensor for these trucks anymore. Gm ones... junk, had 2 strip out and 1 break off just like yours. I hate cheap junk when its advertised as quality
Knock sensors must always be torqued to exact spec. That is how the sensor is calibrated. Under or over tightened will cause the pressure waves (ping) to either be slowed or allowed in too easily. Both will cause timing to change too early too late or not enough. Never use chinese crap and always replace the knock sensor sub harness when available.
