Janie Doe i remember there bein a petition some years ago pushing nickelodeon to put all their old cartoons and stuff out for dvd release. i dont know what happened with it as i signed up for it and checked option for updates.

James Rhinehart believe me i know the feeling....some of the best kid memories for me came right from this classic 80s and 90s toon for me right after school. this was the best babysitter I've ever had!

Always loved this show, it was exciting to see which fairytale they were going to show. Also, when my sister and I were about 8 and 9 we were both home sick with gross colds, and we sat on the floor sipping hot tea with lemon and honey and watched this. Also, the Rumpelstiltskin one terrified me. When the husband kept sneaking over the fence to steal cabbages from the witch because his wife was pregnant and demanding more, and one of the cabbages turned into the head of the witch. with roots clinging to the bottom of her neck..scary, yet interesting stuff

I now have a daughter and reminisce on the times I was a kid and watched this show. doesn't it feel like yesterday?

This show aired on TV in 1987. That was the year when Dinosaucers was on TV. I have many fond memories of GFTC. It was one of the first shows I remember that introduced me to the world of anime along with other 80s anime cartoons like Voltron and Robotech.

Oh my sure does bring back lots of memories, times when cartoons where worth watching not some of the stuff they show now!

I feel so giddy and light-hearted when I watch this. Sometimes I even involuntarily hum it and not even realize what I'm humming!

The best thing about this show, was that the fairy tales weren't all watered down, but rather very dark and true to the original Grimm's brothers stories.

Oh my gosh, I remember this. I think we had a couple tapes. One I remember watching in particular was The Frog Prince. It was my sister's favorite, and she watched it often. Drove me crazy.

Does every generation think its music and entertainment was better than the newer generation's? Or was this stuff really better? All I know is I loved it when I was a kid and it still makes me want to come along and join the fun.

Such awesome memories, this is the kind of stuff that was responsible for making me get into game design and comic art. My brother and I used to watch this and all of the other great cartoons of the 80's and early 90's with our mom. Even all of the awesome stuff they started showing on Toonami back in 99 and early 2000's. Kids got it bad today such rubbish absolute rubbish they get.

I remember a lot of these old tales; I loved the one with......can't think of the title......the 6 guys, one is really strong, one is a sharpshooter, one can make weather cold, one is really fast, one can blow wind through his nose, and the leader who is out for justice against a bad king and queen. I also remember the one with the guy who tricks an old woman and daughter to eat the cabbage that turns them into donkeys. Great revenge.

wow, this just took me back.

I love this show. I would watch it in the afternoons during summer break on Nickelodeon (it would come on before The Little Koala, if I remember) and on the weekends. My favorite story was the one about the Man in the Bear Skin Coat who made a bet with Satan that he wouldn't bathe or groom himself for 7 years and if he survived he'd be wealthy.
