Stunning. The best La Poule ever!
I think that was the first time Sokolov played in Madrid: the whole auditorium was amazed: I was there!!

So many different voices from the same note and his unbelievable discipline and power make it a real joy to listen to this virtuoso.

Every time I watch a new video with Sokolov, I learn something new. He is really amazing.
He makes the piano an evocation of a harpsichord even with differen dynamics. I wonder if there are other pianist who have tis color ability at the piano! I fell in love with his mind when I first heard his hammerklavier over 30 years ago !

Perfect recordings. I found him decades ago when I picked up his Hammerklavier . I have always held him up there at the top . Unforgettable and intelligent . Delves into repertoire so rare from russian performers ! Would love to hear him in Ravel and Bartok ? Maybe earlier he programmed the Webern Variazonen ? He also creates magic in live performance as so many videos attest here ! What a master .Now with Argerich ,Schiff ,Kocsis just died maybe Pires .One of the true greats of the ww2 generation!

Vynikající pianista, vynikající interpretace!
Sokolov est vraiment bien pour la musique de Rameau, peut-être fait-il un bon pont du clavecin au piano, il est domage qu'aucun éditeur nous propose l'intégrale. Sokolov is really good for Rameau's music, maybe he makes a good bridge from the harpsichord to the piano, it's a shame that no publisher offers us the complete version.
Just new listening to Sokolov and I never knew I would suddenly fell in love with how impressive he plays, can't wait to listen to other of his existing renditions.

I’d never heard of Rameau (or Sokolov) until Vikingur Olafsson’s Rameau/Debussy album. His approach is totally different, but I’m so glad it led me to videos like this one.
What's really fun about this piece is that w the title Rameau exactly gives you the tempo
