Hearing Battle Axe Proficiency always hits diffy. I need a clip of that moment because Griffith really turns a moment of a joke from Merle into something surprisingly impactful. Here you have Merle trying to skirt around having to give something important in the game. So he chooses his battle axe proficiency. To which Griffith was like "Haha you think you are gonna get away without suffering in wonderland? nah." So he hits him with a heartwarming story of being taught how to use a battle axe and then losing the memory of the person who taught him and everything attached to the prof of a battle axe. The tres horny boys lost so much in this arc its fantastic, heartbreaking and a wild rollercoaster ride ending with Arms Outstretched.

I just love the way the tracks slowly devolve from “this is such a cool tune! Something about it is a little bit sinister though…” to “DOOM DOOM DOOM EVIL GAMESHOW EVIL YOU WILL DIE HERE”

The "Three, two, one! Let's Go!" Gives me literal chill each and every time I hear it.

I just finished listening to TAZ Balance and still reeling a bit (and also crying over Lucretia, it's fine) and when I began this arc, I'd seen some online chatter that this wasn't popular at the time. I was apprehensive going into it, but LOVED it! Loved the stakes, the drama, and of course this phenomenal music.

I can't help going back to listen to the soundtrack every so often, and there are just songs that give me *chills* every single time, and this album has like 4 of them so I completely feel that. I got into stuff late but it's still so wonderful seeing everything.

This arc has, in my opinion, the best music by far the issue I and, I think, a lot of other people have/had is that it was very linear. Once they were in Wonderland there really wasn't any freedom of choice or agency for the players, they simply had to suffer through and wait for the plot to happen to them. Which, yeah, I know it's called "the suffering game" but there really isn't enough 'game' in it. The lack of agency made Griffin something of a one-man show, and it's less exciting when everything goes **exactly** as he plans regardless of what the party attempts. I honestly had a similar problem with most of the Petals to the Metal arc, except for the car race itself.

@@anachronity9002 I don't think the railroad argument is as fair here as say, stolen century where it is definitely present but for *very* good reason. Like, literally a whole plot Griffin had anticipated involving Magnus and Kravitz was dropped as a result of the "arms outstretched" scene, which was entirely driven by the players.

I'm pretty sure the either the game "your turn to die; death game by majority" sampled some of these songs for its ost. either that or griffin did it. but they're both good osts so I wouldn't blame either composer for taking inspiration

It's possible that both of them used Apple Loops? Garageband and Logic Pro both use them, big useful open-source loop library. I've heard a few I recognize throughout the TAZ soundtrack, and lots of other soundtracks use them. :D
