GREYHOUND goes FOSSIL HUNTING on DORSET BEACH

Join Fairy the rescue greyhound as she hunts for fossils on Charmouth Beach on the Jurassic coast in Dorset. In this video we tell you all about ammonites and even find some amongst the pebbles. Fairy shows you around the gift shop and has a play with her ball on the beach. Then come back to the campsite with us for a wet and stormy night under a tarp!

Greyhounds and fossils! Two of my favorite things together in one video! Fairy is such a good girl for putting up with her humans doing boring stuff:-)

The cutest Archaeologist ever! Very nice trip, although I'm sure she appreciated the beach more!

Fairy must be wondering what the next boring, foolish thing her humans will do next. I wonder what story the fossils in the shop were telling her nose. She did seem to like the walk through the campsite, which looked as if it might have some squirrel possibilities. I do think she's entitled to choose the next adventure, having put up w/ this one w/ no more whining than the average 3-year-old! P.S.---I do agree with you Fairy that camping is equivalent to the 7th circle of hell, especially if it is raining or cold. But as your humans love it, I guess you will have to join in!

I DON'T think that this trip will go down as "Fairy's Favourite" - uncomfortable & PAINFUL rocky/ pebbly beach, boring, stupid rocks that my mom & her friend liked, okay - cool smell on other rocks in the exorbitantly-priced shop, awful wet and loud night/ very poor sleep in pouring rain, and walk through pretty but wet woods. Back to bed!! Another interesting adventure, Lucie (even IF Fairy wasn't impressed)! As a teacher, I really appreciate the way you try also to "teach" in your vids. Well done! Are folks free to just take (and then maybe sell, themselves) those fossils? We used to go fossil/ trilobite-hunting on our Sunday family drives -- big family, no money, but gas was cheap then, so load up the station wagon with kids & dog, parents, drinks/ camp-stove and sandwiches/ hotdogs, snacks, etc., and take off for the afternoon, and explore back roads. I SO appreciate those experiences now...!! Awaiting your next adventure... Cheers!

Yes you can take any fossils that you find away with you although ours wouldn’t have been worth much! 🤣

@@Fairythegreyhound 🙂 I found a PERFECT arrowhead once, in the sand in front of my maternal grandma's place on Kootenay Lake. The Indians/ "First Nations" peoples used to carve them from flint, and use them to spear fish, etc. A paternal Great Aunt - who had a curio shop up in central B.C. (she made & sold jewelry, paintings, etc., and sold fossils & other old Native and settlers' relics that she'd collected in her hikes/ travels), asked me if she could borrow it for display. Sadly, over time, she forgot that it was mine, and sold it. "Poop!" Cool that, though separated by vast distance and age (I'm 66), we've shared some similar hobbies. Best wishes to you all, including the lovely Fairy! ❤

@kgrant3184 I would have so love to have found an arrowhead at some point in time. In a lot of the spots in the US unless you're on private property do you find any arrowheads or things like that you're not allowed to take them if it's on public property or US National parks

Yes I did write her a message on her video, how awful I can’t imagine how hard it must be. Scary that her dog was only a year older than Fairy too. Terrible to lose such a young dog 😢😢😢

My greyhound is the same. They like their comfort. Mine loves her sleep she sleeps for Britain 😅. Having said that, she has no issues getting up if I'm in my kitchen cooking. Less keen if it's raining 😅 hey Dad you go for a walk and I'll stay here by the fire.

That was really interesting, didn’t even know such a place existed. Looks like a really good educational centre, great for kids too. I can understand Fairy not going for a run on those stones/shells, it would be really painful. Boy you guys are so brave camping like that in the pouring rain 👍👍👍

Lovely video, enjoyed the trip with you. Just so you know Bournemouth is amazing for holidaying with dogs, 7 miles of sandy bitches, no peebles, and dogs are allowed in most areas, and most hotels. I went with dogs few years back and we had a blast. Scratches to Fairy❤❤

08:07 Fairy says: "Stupid fossils Why do you want them, they are nothing to eat or play with." By the way while visiting Cornwall I found you can handfeed "greedy" seagulls. They are very carefull to pick up the food unlike dogs that might bite off your fingers.

An interesting fact I didn't know ammonites died out at the same time as Diansures.
