That was originally a Patsy Cline song. A tragic end to a beautiful lady with a tremendous voice. If you don’t know, look up and listen to her songs that were recorded before she died in that car crash. Stunning voice.

She’s one awesome singer. She knows how country should be. Love her voice.

This is pure country sound! Steel guitars, pianos, acoustic guitars, and real voices singing. The Ryman was a perfect backdrop for this video. I enjoyed seeing the past come to life. I could imagine walking into The Ryman you can close your eyes and visualize everything that took place on that stage.

My maternal grandfather was in an old style C&W band, stringed instruments 🎸 were a natural to him. He hated rock-n-roll, he couldn’t stand Elvis(my mother adored Elvis) People that knew him said he could play a 5 string banjo 🪕 so fast and hard it would nearly catch the strings afire, which gained him his nickname’Banjo’. His name was Mr. Joel C. ‘Banjo’ Martin, Sr. They played the Rhyman many, many times, as well as Arthur Smith’s radio show out of Georgia. Papa (to us) was a high steel welder and many a person that knew him said they believed if you blindfolded him and tied one arm behind his back he’d still lay the prettiest bead you ever saw. He suffered a massive heart attack the day after Christmas of 1969. There was no saving him. I was 7, and so stupid and ignorant. I have always felt that I missed learning so much knowledge and skills with his death. Nana didn’t last long after his passing. He used to buy, sell and trade so many instruments and firearms with many of the well known singers and musicians it would boggle one’s mind. I’m very thankful that our kids, grown adults now with kids of their own, inherited Papa’s welding skills, Nana’s dogged tenacity and Faith in Jesus, Granny’s cooking skill and Pa’s love for farming. I miss them all so terribly much, but we will see them again. For that I am grateful. Mom still has a slew of 78 rpm steel platters (LP albums, heavy as all get out) which include her singing with their band. She was just a kid, 7yo, then up to 11 or 12years old. When I showed her that video of John and Gretchen and the others, man….she just bawled. It brought back so many memories, but they were good memories. She’s not long for this world now, but she knows where she is going for that glorious reunion with my dad (67 years together) and sister and all my grandparents. I’m ready too, Jesus, thank you for everything you have done for us, even when we (I mostly) didn’t measure up and fell short of your Grace and Mercy. God the Father, God the Son, God in the Holy Spirit. Thank you 🙏 😊

I saw her at Sarnia Bayfest in Canada back in the day... Still warms my heart whenever I hear her voice...she is so honest and unique....FOREVER LOVE!

That is totally awesome MisterHuskey. I worked the Grand Ole Opry show from 2001-2005 as a security officer and I miss it so much. My heart just aches because I miss Nashville so much.

When I was a child growing up in NC, I spent as much time with my grandparents as I could. I remember listening to WSM on the radio on Saturday nights. That was over 60 years ago. I can still hear my MaMa singing along with the music. I really, really miss those days. I miss you MaMa and Granddaddy. All my love.
