So elated to find this site. I have been an admirer of theThe Great Garbo for years. I visited Sweden in the early 21st century to experience her "world". I took my children to the spot where she was born (the building no longer exists) and ended where she rest, under a huge tree, separate from the other grave sites. When I couldn't find the spot, I asked a local. He smiled at me and my young daughter, warmly. Pointing to a solitary site, with a few steps, roped off with a brown marble headstone labeled Garbo. "She is over there, she wanted to be let alone." It is great to hear her voice speaking her native tongue. Thank you.

I'm taking the same trip as you did this coming summer, her Blekingegatan, the Minna round the corner, her school and her grave site. The things that comfort me is that our dear Greta is alive and healthy, of course still immensely beautiful and, I'm sure, in very good company, in the other dimension.

Despite the atrocious background noise, fascinating to hear Garbo speak her own native language. I am English and spent a year in Gothenburg. We are used to hearing Garbo's beguiling accent in her movies but here for the first time I hear her speaking "svenska". Wonderful!

Even though I don't understand the Swedish language, I perceive how sweet it is and musical, too. More, I can hear when Greta is speaking, as divine a voice as her charm and beauty. Precious document to be kept so as not to lose that unique human being that was Greta Lovisa Gustafsson. Thanks a lot for this video. If You have more of GG's...

After listening to this entire piece, I detect that Greta Garbo has a wonderful voice! I've heard her voice in a couple of her movies and even in English she has a very distinctive sound. To me it sounds very sexy, rather low as in a woman's alto singing voice, and also contains a fullness and a richness which is absolutely wonderfully fitting for the personage...THE GREAT GRETA GARBO!!! I love it!

Were her only Swedish films silents? Did she do ANY talkies in Swedish?! I can’t find any. I loved so much hearing Ingrid Bergman act in her native language in Autumn Sonata. I want to find such a film with Garbo.

In the beginning the man is describing her career and what she’s like as a person, how she handles the press, photographers etc. It’s a bit difficult to make out, but he asks her if it’s the fifth time she’s back in Sweden, she says yes, that she goes back and forth. I can’t hear the next question. Then he asks about her next movie, if it’s a “cultural movie”. She says yes. Then the interviewer is a bit cheeky and says “Which do you prefer, a cultural movie or one that makes money?” And everyone laughs. I can’t quite hear the question, but Greta says something about being alone. Then there’s an exchange in Italian and Greta explains to the interviewer what she said. The interviewer says that it was said that when she left New York she said “I’m so tired.”, he asks if it’s true. People laugh. There’s a mixed exchange in Italian and Swedish that I can’t make out. I think Greta says that she said that, but she meant travelling, not entertainment. Another man says that everybody is appreciative of her coming back. Someone with an accent says something about “There’s a lot of happiness in America/You are very happy in America”, I think Greta says yes, but there’s happiness to be found everywhere. She says “Come on, let’s go to __”, I can’t hear where. Someone gives advice about how to get to where they’re going to by boat, someone makes some kind of joke about it that I can’t quite hear. The interviewer asks her if she’s seen ____ before, Greta says “Briefly”. Then everyone thanks each other for the meeting.

I’m Swedish but for me it’s very hard to pick up on what they’re saying, cause of their old way of speaking and the sound quality, but I don’t think they’re talking about anything particular, they mentioned whether she does movies for the money or the culture and what is most important to her, and I think they mentioned a quote and asked if that’s what she said and so on. There wasn’t really any particular theme tho. (:
