Doubt if Garbo would have found these amusing. She wasn't that sort of person.

It looks like vengeful passive-aggressive mockery coming from the top (who most probably couldn't get her favors), designed to appease envy at the bottom. She was effortlessly stunning and classy, and she was discreet and cerebral, too. Nothing like what Hollywood ever got us used to.

It's a matter of record that Garbo's feet were a US size 8, or sometimes a 7. For someone of 5'7", that's normal for the time, and by today's standards, smaller than average. She just preferred to wear big ugly slippers out of shot on set rather than heels. And the media/public enjoyed someone so otherwise lucky in life having a "flaw".

Her feet were of normal size but she had a way of walking that seemed to make them look larger. A kind of optical illusion. I too am 5'7" with same shoe size.

Garbo is my favorite actress Glen Close narrated a documentary on her a few years ago Which stated that the American film industry Didn't quite know what to do with her, So they made fun of her! All I can say, is that she outclassed All the best American actresses put together. She had a quiet dignity about her And didn't let the movie studios push her around. My favorite movie of her's is 'Queen Christina.' Another example of a forgotten foreign actress Would be Michele Morgan. Hollywood didn't know what to do with this lady either. Check out the movie 'The Chase.'

Garbo was awesome. They probably mocked her because they didn't know what to make of such a superstar who wasn't playing the game like the others, doing fake photo ops everywhere and premieres and phony interviews. I wish more celebrities would take a page out of Garbo's book and keep their private lives private and stay away from all the celebrity nonsense and let their work speak for themselves.

I find it rather Cruel. People tend to generalize, and her feet were proportioned with her height, but American women, specially those in Hollywood were usually under 5'5", so of course Greta had to stand out.

They were a 9AA and narrow. And by today's standards that's quite normal. In those days women had very small feet because women weren't athletic then, and nutrition was poor and people were much smaller all around. So they said she had big feet but it's actually not true. Garbo was fabulous and there has never been anyone else like her or as Greta as her in Cinéma history. She's the female equivalent to Charlie Chaplin. Completely iconic and untouchable. Love Greta.

Her feet were 9AA. Very narrow. Not big at all and by today's standards just normal. No one cares about that kind of thing now but in those days women had very small feet and weren't very athletic: nutrition was poor And people were shorter and smaller females all round. Being Swedish, Greta was a big girl and very athletic in frame with wide shoulders and larger feet than your average American woman. But they still weren't big. Iconic characters are always under attack by the very people who built and constructed their images to begin with. They love to build people up then once they're larger than Life, bully and reduce them by mocking them.
