Gregory Hines Tap Dance
Let Peace Begin With Me • "Let There Be Peace on...
pass this inspirational performance on, we need this now more than ever!!
Welcome! These musical clips are from a large video collection that is now being converted from VHS/Beta to digital. There is some viewing quality loss from the original video source due to the age of the tapes, but the performances are preserved and still a joy to view. I'm finding many lost performances from vintage R&B, Soul, Pop, Broadway, Cabaret and other performances. This channel will be the Ed Sullivan channel for the digital generation, something for everyone to enjoy. Many of the performances will be seen for the first time since they were originally televised. I will be adding many musical performances from a variety of sources that I hope you will enjoy. Please hit the like button if you can.

I hope there is a child out there who wants to grow up and be like Gregory Hines R.I.P.!

Hopefully. I think Zavion Glover studied with him before he, Gregory Hines, died.

Me too! Happy tears!
Gregory Hines, what a very talented man. The dancing moves are so wonderful, and just gliding on the floor.
I adore this man and his dancing talent, which are extraordinarily underrated. I am a huge fan of White Nights, but am still frustrated that Mikhail's talents are praised more than Gregory's. I have been trying without success to find a video that shows a piece in the early part of the film that showcases Gregory Hines talent--I know it's there but cannot find a video to back me up. If ANYONE with more computer expertise can introduce this much needed piece of beauty to KZread, we will ALL be better for it. Thanks!
Such an AMAZING dancer who continues to inspire me & many others to this day. May his genius live on & may he RIP.
It’s tough to show appreciation during the performance… Because you don’t wanna miss a single solitary second of the genius that man possessed.
GOD spoils us by giving us one of somethings.....and when they are gone we hurt because sometimes we want to keep them here so bad that we don't have to talk about them past tense.....RIP...MR. HINES!!!! YOU ARE MISSED
He was gorgeous...so sad he is gone...😢

Dear beautiful Gregory, now his brother Maurice has joined him, but I wish they were still here. 😢

He was excellent! God bless you. Thank God for this wonderful talent. 🙏
Master Dancer!
Memory memoir magic, we have all got to make the most of the best of memories in this life that is of sin. Rather alone for in ourselves or with everyone.
some guys are just cool.meaning of cool here.
This might sound weird but I saw him in a local supermarket in LA and from a short distance I saw him go through the door behind the meat and fish counter to say hello to the guys working there. You could tell by the hello he received that they knew him and obviously adored him. It was such a moment of pure goodness and kindness. I’m sorry if I fail to express the emotion I felt by what an outstanding person Gregory Hines was. Just a pure instinctive kind of moment where you realize this is not just an outstanding talent but a wonderful person as well. Terrible loss, way too young. An inspirational man.

I saw the last banquet / performance honoring Sammy Davis Jr. (Highly recommend his biography, "Yes I can"). Hines was performing, finished, and Sammy started walking to the stage. Not planned. He was very weak, but with every step closer to the stage he gained strength. Fabulous short performance. Hines got down and kissed his feet. Then Sammy walked back to his seat and with every step became weaker. He died just 6 months later. P.S. In his biography Sammy mentions he went into vaudeville with 2 uncles. In one part of the book, he wrote that later he realized his uncles sometimes went without food so they could feed him. 💕💕
I remember when he passed I was staying at a hotel and they dropped the news paper at my door it read Gregor Hines passed away man he was a great dancer he is definitely missed
I wish I could have seen him in person.

Very Amazing! I’m thinking the one person that unliked this video has no feet. Sorry about that, but learn to TAP on your hands. Then, maybe you might be able to give a thumbs up.
A genius lost way too soon 😢
I hate that tap dancing came and went too soon. So grateful I was shown Tap as a kid. Rip Gregory Hines.

Thank you for the correct spelling! Much appreciated.
I think TAP is underrated. Seems this dance style doesn't get much press. Rarely featured in entertainment (TV shows or film). Only recall Samie Davis Jr being the other BIG NAME tap dancer from before Gregory HInes. Clearly it takes immesne skill and i don't htink it's "made up on the spot" (as Im sure some might think).... Loved the concept of White Knights--2 of the "best" dances in teir own styles paired in a combination spy/dance movie...which WOrKED. though they never tried to get Gergory to do ballet....Barishnakov's forte....claim to fame....
r.ip. Gregory on this the annv. of your death and we know you are dancing in heaven maybe with sammy and fred too!
What is the name of the song they are playing
No Ice Cream Sunday ?
All I can think of is Happy Feet
