Being a bluegrass guitar player, I admit I never paid much attention to the hammered dulcimer, until we had a baby and began being exposed to tunes like this one on the various baby soothing devices. Being also a vinyl collector, I started looking for folk records and found a few hammered dulcimer albums. Turns out our little guy LOVES the sound of it. I'm considering buying a dulcimer, as it seem like a good instrument to get children started on making music. We still have some time, since he's only five months now. :-) Your version here is stunningly beautiful.

My parents said I wouldn't fall asleep as a baby unless they played Greensleeves for me as a lullaby. I still love it! It is really wonderful played on a dulcimer. When I was 8 years old my parents bought a piano and I immediately sat down and learned to play, so parents play music early and often to your babies.

I had similar experience with my grandson at the age of a couple of months. I would play some very basic stuff and he would seem to go into a trance. It was indeed quite remarkable. Cheers

What toys play hammered dulcimer and if so, can you please tell me since you claim your child listens to it in the form of a noise device. I agree with your points on hammered dulcimer--there is not enough and it needs to change.
Just beautiful! I love the song, and together you played it masterfully! I am enchanted with the hammered dulcimer.🙂🎶

You may be correct that the couple played masterfully but is the relationship masterful?
I don't know why youtube shows me a 13 year old video but I am happy to be here!
Gently done with expression and sensitivity!

Gentle, indeed, despite Hammered Dulcimer being an aggressive title and percussion instrument.
I envy you two. To be able to be this talented together is something Special..
Absolutely beautiful! God bless you and keep you in his loving kindness!
Thank you for warming my heart on this Christmas Eve. It was truly beautiful. Merry Christmas

It is no longer Christmas Eve and I hope you had a merry Christmas, despite no one replying.
The very 1st time I heard this lovely song (supposedly composed by Henry VIII) was at our annual Summer primary school concert in the sunny garden of Lyndhurst vicarage in the New Forest when it was sung by the class above mine in 1953 when I was 8. The rest of the class performed a living tableau based on the famous 1878 painting titled "And when did you last see your father?" in which a Roundhead tribunal interrogate the young son of a Cavalier while his mother and young siblings look on. I've loved it ever since that far off time.
Beautiful
Greensleeves might be the best most beautiful song ever written! ❤
I play multiple instruments by ear and life is always fun. That’s why we play❤

As long as it has hammered dulcimer. Who is playing hammered dulcimer, here? Is it Ruth or Steve?
Oh, how lovey. Thank you so much! (Lovely home, too!
Wow!! Absolutely beautiful! Bravo! Best rendition I've ever heard. Maybe it is the delicacy of the dulcimer paired up with that glorious Martin. Wonderful playing of a none too easy instrument. Thank you so very much for putting this up. Made my week!
Love this song! My favorite so far with all of the instruments I have seen you play so far!!!

How many others did you see them play and were they as good? Do you have a wide spectrum of music experience? I ask so that you can explain with credibility why it is that you find this sequence of instrumental fanfare so alluring--so special. Thank you.

How often is it that we hear the blessings of sound that occur between a guitar and hammered dulcimer, friend?
Lovely
OmG love it I've been looking for this one played on a hammered dulcimer ❤😊...Thank You kindly
Still enjoying this to this day.....
Beautiful!
This was so beautiful! I wonder how In The Bleak Midwinter would sound on the hammered dulcimer. The first time I heard it I thought it might be a 500 year old carol because the melody reminded me of Greenesleeves. I imagine it would be beautiful as well.
Thank you for sharing this 😊
Beautiful and blissful. Thank you ❤🎼
Thanks for sharing. Wonderful 😄
I first heard this tune as the theme in the cinerama version of How The West was Won. Fell in love with it and that was in the early '60's.

Do you really have a dulcimer or is this just fantasy? If so, what is it made out of and how long are the dimensions?
