My selection was similar to this one, back in nov-dec 2000 we didn't have 18x back then... or the million dollar shitter. Our showers and toilets had holes all in the walls where the cold icy wind would blow right through. When we where told if we got selected or not we all were in a building and they called names to go out side. You didn't known if it was a good thing or not. Once the two groups were separated then they let you know if you pass or failed. Also the was a smaller group that had a chance to plea their case.
You guys are great, thanks for getting in there and putting in the work.

The poor guy that decided to take a quick nap not knowing that he was being tracked and being found. Remember watching this when it first came out. And land nav and not being able to use the roads to navigate on. Thanks for your service.
I remember when this aired... What I remember about training was, in land nav, one could quickly tell the difference between city and rural. Growing up in rural Tennessee, solo in the woods was a wonderful rest break. No one was yelling at me. Talking about Land Nav, there was a course at Benning that I hated. Because it was nothing but washout ruts. So one either doglegs or plays Indiana Jones and jumps for it.
I'm a bit weird and loved Land Nav courses. I don't know why, but my brain just got it and could just know where I was when I looked at a map. Terrain would suck, but I could look at a map and figure out my around stuff. I loved doing land nav at Benning because my buddy and I would just chill at the end and wait for everyone else.

"You know this guy can't dance" So Glad I found this channel, content is hilarious full time gentlemen.
We had a guy in our battalion that was in Nas and was on the gun that friendly fired and wiped out a bunch of friendlies. He would sit under the stairs and talk to his cigarettes. He slept in an ambulance by the barracks. Felt incredibly bad for him and found it odd that they kept him in with everything that happened to him. He didn't end up deploying with us but why make the guy go through the workup and previous deployment.
U GUYS R AWESOME! :D FUNNY N serious at the same time
The missing video is not a big deal: as you said, we've watched this so many times we know exactly where in the video you're referring to in your commentary. After selection did you get time to heal up from injuries or was it right off to the Q course? And do you remember how many "kills" the Log Pit racked up during your selection?
They kept us outside the whole time and just called out numbers until they were done, they quietly talked to the group no one knew which group cause the numbers they were calling appeared to be at times to be solid guys but then they said to my group “you guys are selected” 🤣
Lots of animals in the woods in NC. I live here. Used to go on night rucks as a teen before I joined the Army and definitely got chased by small bear one night when i was probably 15 or 16. Scariest civilian night of my life

What’s up Buck! By next year, when I’m 21, I plan on either trying to get an 18x & go through the SF pipeline, or go the Navy route with a BUD/S contract to become a SEAL like my Uncle. Either way I planned on trying to learn the basic concept of Land Nav, (basic at the minimum)before I actually go through training. Is that going to be super beneficial in prepping for selection? Or just one of those things you don’t really prepare for and just face it when you get to that point through training?

The longest I ever had to run in SF was 10 miles. You just train for it and get it done. Your mind is generally the limiting factor. You’d be surprised how much further your body can go when it comes down to it.

so glad i live in germany so i could watch it . what im trying to figure out is that some of these soldiers thought they could disobey simple orders ( no use of lights; dont use roads; keep your road vest visible at all times). these are NCOS and officers if im correct. isnt disobeying a lawful order also punishable by article 15???????? besides getting kicked out of hell week
@Chris09978
2 жыл бұрын
Those are not NCOS at all those are training instructors, and you can be one if you know how to do certain things the most common is SERE school instructor probably the easiest one you can get out of all the instructor jobs. And yes an unlawful act will may I say again may cause an article 15 depending what you did. Mostly if you broke the law in army, but disobeying an order will not count as an article 15 depending what it is mostly it will just cause punishment, cause in the US we have a system where a soldier grunt or something can put tank the higher ranks but mostly happens in combat and when they are in a shit situation that they need to get out of. If you are talking about the candidates of begin NCOs it’s a no most of those guy are E4 or E5 and most have combat experience but as of now there isn’t much of them anymore cause we are not in Afghanistan anymore and not in any war currently with the US of course.

@@Chris09978 i guess we grew up in different armies . in my time disobeying an order was punished with an article 15 and it didnt matter what rank or experience you had . it just shows that most ncos and officers think they can do what they want
