Hey Sean, I love the content, one movie I think you should review with Kurt is the Forrest Gump Vietnam scene, not exactly a war movie but the scene is extremely intense from what I've been told and seen. I remember in the video you guys reviewed "the covenant" you talked about how bullets don't whiz or crack or Snap, but in the Vietnam scene from Forrest Gump, it was exactly that. So maybe you guys can check that out.

Now we gotta see y'all play and the SAS use to train (don't know if they still do) that you don't use a sling and just always carry it in your hands because In an ambush the amount of time to unsling costs casualties, there is a specific statistic tied to that.
I think you guys would better appreciate this movie more when you realise that both the Russian teams and the American teams are contractor's, not special forces. Which could explain the different team and individual dynamics that you are seeing? The blacked out dudes with the quad nods at the end are more akin of ground branch in this story lore though.

Considering all of their backgrounds as EX-spec ops, i can see where you're coming from. Hell the actors were EX-spec ops themselves but it didn't tie to their characters in the movie. But i did vividly remember someone in the EFT community confirming the main characters backgrounds about the whole veteran special forces things but from a standpoint when you watch the movie WITHOUT reading its primary lore or storyline it'd be pretty hard to understand it. Plus their weapons are decked out with attachments which is what SOME spec-op branches use.

@@kievitz Or you know, instead of stealth you can chad and W key the crap out of Reserve and Labs.
Just FYI, the Tarkov movies were supervised by actual and former Russian spec ops and instructors. But, the director of these movies was saying, that due to cinematography and effects some moments and situations aren't realistic or "wrong", because it had to be done to look cool on camera. So everyone they are aware of those moments, that are not 100% correctly done.

The reason there was no maneuvers shown in the first scene is because USEC team(the enemy) was trying to push BEAR team to retreat into preset ambush of two machineguns. But two guys from BEAR team were out on recon mission and on their way back eliminated the ambush and walked into the shed right after the RPG blast. They talk about it on their way. The rifle (RPK, specifically) had a sling on it, but for some reason the sling wasn't on the shooter's neck as it's supposed to. He was prone in cover when the firefight started, he probably unslung the gun to set it up properly, and then he had to run under fire with it. It is operator error, but an understandable one.

One of the craziest things I’ve learned about the Lone Survivor movie was that there was a SF team call sign Hammerhead Six and they had a camp 5 miles from where the actual fight happened. If the 4 man seal team would have had proper communication by upper they could have worked their way down to them. At 29:00 that is a perfect summation of Escape From Tarkov -- a bunch of PMCs without much training put in a bad situation (it's exactly the same way in the game, and these EXACT kind of scenarios play out in the game just likein the clip). The only time things run smoothly (sometimes) is when you have real life trained soldiers playing in squads together using smart tactical approaches to how they deal with situations, like Operation Drewski and his crew, who run through Tarkov savagely.
This calls for a part 2 or even 3! There are still so many things to discuss.

The decision to slug it out in the beginning was made when a teammate was hit. They essentially asked if they were in or out when the second group showed up and the answer was that their dude couldn’t move and so they chose to fight it out.

As a reply about the guy who didn't sling his weapon I noticed he actually pulls that gun out of his bag in the moment. He was kind've in a hurry. Lol
Here is one for you. Spring 95 East Bosnia mountain! We were sort of a semi merc unit replacing the SOU unit that held this position and awaiting the orders to take the com station on the hill next over, middle of the forest! My team of 3, two Croats and 1 guy from Finland. 5:15 am, guys drinking coffee next to our tent that was some 20 yds behind to small foxholes, and improvised shelter made out of rocks..rifles leaning against the tree next to the tent, im stretching, opening the mre to get the chocolate for a breakfast. Just as i realized this unnatural silence, this AK full auto sound broke out and that sound of bullets hitting the trees, thump thump thump…in seconds it becomes a hell. It felt like its coming from everywhere, we ran to the holes, me the one on the right, Finland to the one lower and to the left, the other Croat to the rock shelter.as i ran i felt the pressure of the rounds that flew so close to me, whoever shot those, had me on his sights 110%. I cant explain how i did or ended up un the ground touching myself to see if ingot hit, when realized that im not, crawled to the hole, by that time both my guys have already been engaged, and that moment the Serbs started shooting m 60 rocket launchers on us, while their mortar crew started spraying us w 82 mm mortars! Time 5:30 ish, in my hime i had m 82 PKT Russian machine gun, w 100 rds belt, 7.62x59 mm, load it up opened the bipods, got up, sterted shooting into the woods, the thing stops, load a round again, nothing, later found firing pin broke in half, simultaneously the RPG rocket flew over the third guys shelter, hits the tree explosion and tail of the rocket hits the guy in the upper leg, almost tore his while leg up, in panic he is spraying rounds all over, i jumped out running towards him, pulling my first aid out, when i see the hand grenade flying straight against me, i dove down, the damn thing hits this litle 3-4” this tree and bounces off to the other side exploding before hitting the ground, some 15-16 feet away, i felt some tiny little like burns on my right side, disnt give it any importance, adrenalin talking of course, get to the guy, tie the rubber string around his leg tight, to stop bleeding, calling medics to get him, and asking if they can send anyone else to help, no luck on that cause they hit us in the whole position. I got him pulled w my sling just like this movie showed, to the tent, ran back down and by now it is nothing but a hell the only aide where we disnt get shot from was behind us, grabbed my AK started shooting, semi, but i cant see them, few rounds in one direction then few in the other, Finland the sam, suddenly a big explosion 10 o clock, finland guys position, they hit him w m 60 launcher, penetrated his barrier, and the explosion trew him outside, still remeber his body and how it looked bent and weird, at the moment i tought that he is blown badly, not moving little of his face i could see was dark red and black, burnt. Now this time al least for me was flying, not going slow from some reason, and then, mortar hit the branch of the tree right on top of me , tree itself was some 8 ft behind me, and that pressure of the explosion how it came down, will never forget. That moment i remebered when i was on the 3 month diversion unit training course, the instructor told us” when they know where you are, then tell them where you are”! Didnt understand it back then, but i started yelling,” im here you f..s, come closer, and i started hysterically laughing spraying a few rounds down to them! Then i put my helmet for the First time and lit up the cig!, sitting there and watching and listening the explosions and bullets hitting the trees and dirt around! Explaing this to someone who never experienced something like this is nearly imposible! Time stops, adrenalin spa🎉king, and some calm feeling took over, at that time or shortly after i got up to shoot some rounds from my left, and i see the Finland guys body not in the sam postion that was earlier, same thing again, got my sling made a loop, got it around his ankle and pulled him inside my hole, dude was alive, badly burnt but other than that he was good, as he started coming back, he grabs my AK starts pulling it away from me and trying to get back to fight, lol, we dont understand each other, linguistically of course, im using my hands to keep Him in check, shortly after medics showed up again , and a few other guys, little help at the very end of the firefight, that ended around 9:50 ish! After the fight and us making sure that they pulled back, i looked at the postion, the trees, the stomps around our foxholes, it looked like armagedon, thousands of rounds, its when i realized how close those bullets, rockets and mortars hit to us! Only then i remembered that we had one APM anti personnel mine somewhere towards the Serbs, u pulled the wire of it, it was loose, they came so close to us at one point that they cut it off, and to this day i think that they thought we knew they are there and we are trying to let them come closer to eliminate as many as we could, and that is why they failed! Conclusion: the firefight has its own rules, depending on the situation and location, adapt and survive, that is all i can tell you! Cheers boys!
27:40 that scene IS total chaos, on multiple levels. It's an ill-conceived suicidal revenge plot, executed as a small-team assault against an entrenched, numerically superior and largely unknown enemy force. The only reason the BEAR team took as many USEC down with them as they did was the element of surprise derived from USEC's own lack of discipline that you've pointed out. The entire scene's premise is insane and that only adds to the atmosphere as it follows through to a tactically obvious and inevitable conclusion. It's a samurai movie, basically.
Honestly my uncle(he a gulf war veteran)had the same reaction as you guys but his face lit when how well it was done
The whistle gives you a split second to hit the dirt
As a guy that plays games like tarkov and rainbow six siege I will say that I find it kinda chilling that cqb is similar between real life and games because in high level rainbow 6, 1 person is gonna be shot but it is up to your teammate to finish the gunfight.

This was an amazing breakdown, i think its good to remember that both the russian side and the American side arent exactly military operators. Also they have full subtitles for the film which shows they are constantly making call-outs amd communicating between team members.

Not sure if you have the English subtitles/captions in the video enabled so you can understand what they are saying, but you guys should breakdown the whole series! It gets even more fun with latter episodes. Not sure if you know Tarkov lore but essentially the Russian PMCs in the game and movie are called BEAR and are filled with eastern-pact ex special forces similar to Wagner. The guys they are fighting are called USEC which recruit former LEO and military personnel from western countries like the US, UK etc.

So i went and started watching the "movie" with subtitles. It makes more sense and shows they weren't just shooting in a stalemate. They were, at various points, STUCK while trying to get injured guys out or get pinned down guys oit, or getting sandwiched between two forces (USEC and scavs).
Regarding them staying in the same position, they were communicating and they had 2 of their guys in an open position tryna get out of there, so they were covering for them and tryna fix their buddy

Not only fighting other PMCs but the local gang bosses taking advantage of the chaos. On a historical note: 22 SAS (at least in the days of Andy McNab and Chris Ryan) had a culture that frowned upon using slings on their rifles. I think the mentality was that your hands were supposed to be glued to the weapon or within arms reach at all times. Still, it apparently didn't apply to CQB using the MP5, as can be seen in photos from the Iranian Embassy siege.

It's not just the SAS, but It was part of the old British military doctrine/policy/rule since before WW2, of not using the sling. From what I heard is that it could reduce the soldier's attention or readiness and became complacent.
Thats pretty neat yall watched tarkov. Love playing tarkov! Best shooter looter survival and most realistic one so far.
For the sling part I agree in CQB but try it in trenches now.
Ive been playing escape from tarkov since 2018 its the most realistic first person shooter ive played. Its super detailed lots of mechanics huge learning curve but super intense and fun to play.
Fun fact: dialog in combat was very good very accurate
Shooting through the wall is clever unless there is the slight possibility thath there might be hostages in there or the possibility that the occupants are not bad guys at all
14:20 just saying I know this is just a movie for fun but they did explain they should run out back and get out, and one responded that they shouldn't because they for sure plan on us running and are set up for an ambush
16:30 So you are telling me that you haven't discovered subtitles on KZread yet?!
if you want a visual example of the 2 man cover fire just watch the main shootout in heat. They do it perfectly.
So, plenty of things could've been cleared up had you just turned on subtitles :) At 27:31 for example, they couldn't move back because they were getting pushed from the back, the only way was forward. That's why they ended up in such a shitty position. They're also contractors, PMCs, not operators. The BEAR PMC Company is the russian good guys and the USEC PMC Company is in this universe the "NATO" bad guys trying to cover up some shady shit the western tech company Terragroup was doing. This is also after some months of fighting according to the lore, so they might've gotten complacent, thinking of the "why are they playing music" thing.

The tarkov movie is made by russians so a lot of their tactics and ttp's are based on what they do given that some of their production are ex RU mil and sof. It's nice to see the difference between western and RU tactics. They also made it to where there are Russian PMCs fighting western PMCs so the americans gotta be the lesser force against their own. Tarkov is legit the best game ever though. Still in beta for almost a decade but still an amazing game. Most in depth shooter ever.

I believe the reason for unslung rifles is that the weaponry these combatants use are primarily found as loot in the environment.
Beer breakdown ideas; Special Forces (a French Movie)& Body of Lies
Awesome flick! You guys should seriously consider reviewing this movie called "ELITE SQUAD". It's based on the Brazilian Special Forces Group called B.O.P.E. They operate in the favelas in Rio De Janeiro. That would be interesting to see you guy's take.

I agree, really good movies. A real perspective of how the favelas are in Brasil and what the special ops group BOPE have to deal with. @@billywashere6965
