That's what happens when people feel the need for greed. Most big-money game shows are designed to feel like you're winning a lot as you play and then pay out almost nothing to most people at the end.

Except that Ricardo’s answer on Elton John songs was rejected, but Nancy chose to challenge Robert

Greed's biggest problem was that it was too predictable, in that most team's last questions were at the $200K or $500K level.

Overall the episode lacked anticipation except for the third team. It felt like it was missing something. Beyond that it did have a good mix of questions that held my curiosity.

"Malcolm in the Middle Series Premiere" Feels surreal to read that.

Best buy wasn't the highest revenue in 1999 because they didn't have a lot of them around yet

They were doomed because they had two wrong answers the Gap was also wrong, she should have said JCPenney instead of the gap

Christy gave the most modest answer ever for what she would do with $2M. Australia is expensive as trips go, but expenses are pretty much covered for everyone who accepted the Terminator. Hope she was still able to get to go to Australia pre-9/4/06 :(

I wished Thad’s team would’ve thought about Convenience instead of Volume, like Best Buy. Though, I can’t blame him entirely, since Christy wasn’t any better either, thinking that a Clothing Store alone would have the most revenue. Regardless, they were doomed when they chose those answers, and should’ve bailed at $20K. Also, had they used the Freebie, they would’ve had a better chance, and it might have removed Best Buy or GAP.

Greed had a good run (November 4, 1999 - July 14, 2000) but still too short mate.

Sometimes, it’s never fun to see all the blame on 1 person losing it for his/her team, but it can’t be helped if they’re solely responsible for the loss, like Joe. He completely failed as a Captain, and if he wasn’t sure, he should’ve used the Freebie.

I only knew the answer to That Elton John question BECAUSE it topped Billboard 100 for 14 WEEKS STRAIGHT and because it was in tribute to Princess Diana! I had NO IDEA it was a remake though!

Thad was one of the contestants who didn’t qualify in the Qualifying Question a couple of episodes back.

Wow....my before birthday, i was born on Sunday in 2001.

christy and thad had to serious with thier choices of the gap and best buy

That leader of the 1st group looked so confident as to not use his cancel-one-out. But, he got his wrong and switched to a wrong answer. When you have the opportunity to challenge and choose that option, always take the leader's spot if you win. It may just cost you the game by not doing so...

For Team Steve, I wondered if he used the Freebie, which wrong answer would’ve been Eliminated. And even if he used it, would he have still guessed Software as that last correct answer?! Honestly back then, there was this place called Blockbuster, where I rented Videos, so I knew it wasn’t correct. Also, Hotel Reservations were still called in by phone, and people checked themselves in for vacancies so that was also an incorrect answer. And now that I think about it, Video Game Cartridges are considered a type of Software, so if they only thought along those lines, they probably would’ve won $200K. It’s funny how Common Sense would usually lead to the right answers on a game show like Greed. Heck, if I had a composed team of Free Thinkers, Book Smarts, Street Smarts, & Tech Savies, we could win some Big Money.

Is Wal-Mart one of them? Yes! Is Kmart there? That is two. He changed from GAP to Sears Roebuck. So how about Sears Roebuck? That's three. Well, we're down to Best Buy as the last answer. I got $20,000 for you. I don't know if Best Buy is correct or not.

Like John in Super Greed, Steve would also have saved the team that lost on the $25K Chuck Woolery question.

There was a team from the beginning of the January 6 episode whose captain quit at $100,000. The category for the next question was shopping. Seeing that Thad's team's $200,000 question was about shopping, i wonder if that would've been Carra's team's question.

Can't help but speculate that under normal circumstances they would have left one of the unsure answers as the final reveal for David to battle over. Because they were a return team under the stigma of having departed once as a "losing" team, they cut David some slack.

The first $200,000 question on late night television on the 4 regulars on Saturday night live that really surprised me my answers were 1. Chris rock 2. Jon lovitz 3. Billy crystal 4. John candy I knew Michael Richards was wrong but I never would’ve guessed Robert Downey Jr what a shocker

I guessed the same, I knew for a fact Michael Richards was wrong cause he's basically only known for Seinfeld, but when he changed Robert Downey Jr. to Michael Richards I knew they we're screwed. His team looked very displeased

I'll let you know when I'm ready for everything. However, I plan to do a series called GSN Vault soon which will be on my other channel. And what this series is is shows from GSN that are all from the 2000s, which game shows won't be just included but the blackjack and poker stuff too that GSN aired. Each video of this series will be between roughly 3 to 5 hours. Also, I really am starting to worry about the other game show trader, Ryan Rinkerman, because he has not been active on his trading website for quite some time.

I was surprised that John Candy wasn't revealed third (instead of Michael Richards) as Greed seems to always save the changed response for the final reveal (likely to build up the suspense for when Chuck offers the captain the bribe to stop, since it's the captain that's responsible for the changed answer). I guess in this case, since there was more than one wrong answer, it didn't really matter.

I'm actually suspicious that maybe Todd was a kamikaze candidate in that they didn't have enough contestants on set, so they got him to go out there to have a full slate of 6 contestants for the qualifying question and have him throw the question. Or maybe this was filmed before the first batch of questions aired on this show and something went wrong with the qualifying process (maybe he was one of the 5 closest and somebody screwed up).

I think it might've been due to a production error or they didn't have enough new contestants at the time and had Todd come back as a spot filler and had him throw the question on purpose like another user suggested. Something similar happened in the TV trivia episode, and that's why two repeat contestants showed up on the last team.

38:00-38:07- You can see the sheer disappointment in the whole team's demeanor. That's the only thing I hate about the game show Greed, is that ANY wrong answer costs you EVERYTHING (except Terminator accumulated money). So in a sense, the game is a bit mean-spirited from a standpoint.

I do wish that a wrong answer will slash the current prize by 3/4ths, so they won't go home with nothing. In this case, getting the $200k question wrong will take their $100k down to $25k, $5k per person. Then again, that's why they call it the most dangerous game in America.

The first team looked upset when Joe messed up

Joe = worst captain ever (even worse that the blonde lady who didn't know the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner)? I don't think any other team has ever had 2 wrong answers on the first multiple choice (4 out of 6) question? It's happened a few times on the second multiple choice question (4 out of 7) - questions on the Smithsonian Museum of American History and Barbie. Joe made quite a few fatal errors - not using the freebie, not looking at his teammates after saying John Candy (as a Canadian, that was the most obvious wrong answer - Candy repeatedly turned down offers to join SNL out of loyalty to fellow SCTV cast members - a comedy troupe based out of Toronto), and changing a correct answer to an incorrect one. 4:39 -- all three of his teammates were visibly upset after Joe said John Candy, but even if Joe had caught this cue, he probably would have changed Candy to Michael Richards. He finally looked around at his teammates after locking in Michael Richards and I like to think that he (finally) got the hint that something was very wrong. If the captain has no idea for the first multiple choice question (as was the case with Pepperidge Farm cookie question), use the freebie and pay attention to the reaction of your teammates. In that instance, the captain used the freebie, which guarantees that no matter what, you'll have at least 3 out of 4 and a chance to bail with the money presented by Chuck (as was the case with the Pepperidge Farms question). Here Joe just totally torpedoed his team - I think Joe's teammates would vehemently disagree with Chuck proclamation at 1:21 of Joe being a "great captain" lol.

Bad captain for sure but far from worst. Saved the team at the $100K question, so Jerry can thank him for his terminator money. I wouldn't even say the star-spangled captain was the worst either. She was given 4/4 correct answers pre-$200K but even by saying "I accept" 4 times, she was better than other captains who changed right answers to wrong answers or accepted wrong answers, causing the team to win absolutely nothing. My worst captain ever is a tie between the infamous $25K Chuck Woolery question loss and the captain who changed the right answer to a wrong answer on the $50K Eugene Cernan question.

Actually Micki (the SSB fail captain) was worse than Joe. At least Joe saved his team on the $100,000 question. True, his team lost on $200,000 with two missed answers but to be fair, his team's question about SNL wasn't as easy as the SSB lyrics question. Edit: Plus at least Joe knew to change an answer. Micki accepted her teammates' correct answers to $100k and gave a wrong answer that cost her team the $200,000.

There was at least one other instance on the $200K question of two wrong answers being locked in. If I remember right, it was on the biggest wedding costs. I don’t remember what the other wrong answer was, but one of them was wedding gown. Also happened a couple other times at $500K - you’re right about the Smithsonian and Barbie questions. It also happened regarding celebrities born the same year as Bill Clinton, as well as on automakers with the highest revenue.

@@prestonmackey498 There was also a team that lost on $500k with 2 missed answers about celebrities who were celebrating their 50th birthday in 2000... and not to give anything away but one lady on that team was lucky enough to have the Terminator land on her both times it hit. She took the first challenge but rejected the second one. I wonder if she regretted that decision knowing she could've taken home at least $20,000.

I wish this Show came back it was giving Millionaire a Good Run for it's Money but didn't last....

The 3rd $200,000 question on popular stores was another shocker to me my answers to that one were 1. Walmart 2. Kmart 3. JC Penny 4. Best Buy I was so surprised that Best Buy was wrong I never would’ve guessed sears roebuck and I thought the gap would’ve been another right answer but what a shocker

Shows you how much things have changed in the past 20 years. 3 of the choices (JC Penney, Sears Roebuck, and K-Mart) are all bankrupt, and GAP (along with Best Buy, to a certain extent) aren't so hot right now. Wal-mart is the only one that's still in the top 4 (in fact it's far and away the top retailer in the USA in terms of sales, ahead of Amazon, Costco and Home Depot in 2021).

Is Books one of them for online buyers purchase? That's one. Is CDs and tapes there? That's two. How about airline tickets? That's three. Well, guess what we are down to ... hotel reservations which it was changed from videos. So I got $20,000 for you. I dont know how secure you are with hotel reservations over Software and Videos. I can give you the $20,000 just in case if you dont know if it's correct or not.

I can tell Bruce knew that it was software over hotel reservations I can even tell he wasn’t upset at all after losing I can tell Gina and grace were upset that they lost even though Gina gave a wrong answer which was videos and then Steve changed it to hotel reservations which I was a little surprised that was another wrong answer but at least Bruce wasn’t upset he knew Steve tried his best and I gotta give Steve credit he did do good and saved the team twice but he did tried on the $200,000 level but not quite good try though Steve

⁠​⁠​⁠@@lawandorder888 sure do mate I remember that question very well that question was super easy I knew the answers plus I even looked it up as well even though personal computers were popular in the late 90s but the telephone answering devices were more popular by a small percentage and that was the answer Antoinette gave as you mentioned until bob changed to personal computers plus my uncle and I we’re watching that episode together and we both knew bob made a huge mistake and my uncle even yelled at his tv to bob and said don’t switch her answer
