Ed was the first captain to decline the freebie on the 7-choice question, and then it happened on consecutive teams. Interestingly, the first two teams to lose on the $100K question were also consecutive.

Also interestingly, only one other team declined the Freebie at 500K, and they too lost (Vincent, Ronald, Edgardo). Only difference is that they had 3 of the 4 (Vincent changed a correct answer for a correct answer, and left a wrong one alone). That episode is also on KZread. If it were me, I would almost certainly use the Freebie at 500K if I haven’t already…

He had $1,000,000 on the line with a question about Barbie and he decided not to use the Greed Freebie. That's pure stupidity. How much could that man have thought he possibly knew about Barbie that he'd risk life changing money on it? The audience even had the gall to cheer about that decision.

I think you raise a good point here. A man who's most likely never played with Barbie dolls in his childhood (unless he has a daughter or something), AND one of two female teammates had just been eliminated in the Terminator. Not that I blame David because there was no way of knowing it was going to be about Barbie dolls but I think if it was Gloria, Lauren, then Ed, AND he used the Freebie that could've helped.

Also, I posted a separate comment about how I thought it was foolish of Craig on the next team after Ed's to not use the Freebie on that question about celebrities sharing the same birthyear as Bill Clinton. That question was hard enough WITH the Freebie! And even if his team did make it to the $2 million question and got to use the Freebie then, it would've still been best four out of seven so I'm not quite certain what he was thinking there.

Huh, that soft drink question has got to be one of the easiest 1M (7 answer) questions in the show. Considering coke is basically a nickname for all other soft drinks, Pepsi is so widespread in restaurants and has so many exclusive deals with many big chain restaurants and Mtn. Dew is also insanely huge. None of the wrong answers even seem plausible or come anywhere close in popularity. They didn't even try to come up with bait answers for that one. I've never even heard of Hires brand root beer. 7up and Orange Crush aren't super common, like you never really see them served in diners or restaurants or fast food or anything. They should've included Sprite or something more popular to make it more difficult.

The Barbie was definitely one of the more difficult 4 out of 7 questions, as the 3 wrong answers all sounded quite plausible. Contrast this to the 4 out of 7 Monopoly board game question and some of the wrong answers there ("75 spaces on board" or "played by Apollo astronauts on the moon") were blatantly wrong - spaces on the board would be a multiple of 4, and there's no way you could play Monopoly in a low/zero gravity environment with all the pieces flying around...

Like...why would people play it on the moon? How could anyone who's seen a monopoly board think there's 75 spaces, there's just not enough room with how big the spaces are. Compare that to "Released during the great depression", "Rejected by Parker Bros.", "A Prisoner is drawn in the jail space" which all seem like things that could very well be true about a board game, even if you know nothing about monopoly, the only one that's whacky is the Castro ordering copies be destroyed. @@TripSoul10 @therussianspy5882 Replying to two people: but I thought the Monopoly question was a bit tricky honestly. I don't remember off the top of my head how many spaces there are on the board. Only reason I know 75 is wrong because I know it was a wrong answer on the show. I think had the Freebie been available to use it probably would've gotten rid of the "played on the moon" answer for the reason TheRussianSpy explained. But I was stuck between Tommy Tune and Parker Brothers. This is why playing the $500,000 question with no Freebie is ill advised and not recommended. Frankly, I'm surprised they actually won that question but glad they did.

In this episode of Greed we get 2 (out of the 3?) instances where two wrong answers were provided on the 4 out of 7 question. I (think) this only occurred on one other 4 out of 7 question, the one about items on display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. I only recall seeing two wrong answers on the 4 out of 6 question once (the question on regular cast members for Saturday Night Live). At least with the Smithsonian question the freebie was used - it looked pretty bad in all the other instances when the freebie was available, not used, and the team gets 2 answers wrong. I don't think there were multiple wrong answers at any other multiple choice level (4 out of 8 or Dan Avila's 4 out of 9 jackpot question), including the million dollar moments, and thank goodness for that. The drama is certainly ratcheted up for the reveal of answer 4 out of 4 (refusal of Chuck's buyout, background music stops, silence, and a more dramatic sound effect). With two answers wrong, the reveal that the third answer is wrong is pretty anti-climatic.

As an Internet Research buff, I knew the answers to the question about celebrities born the same year as Bill Clinton.

Yeah that wasn't a very difficult question, IMO. Bill Clinton was also known as the first "baby boomer" US president, and was born 1946. Jane Fonda and Harrison Ford are both older (i.e., not boomers). Dolly Parton has always looked the same (she openly admits to having a great deal of plastic surgery), but she was definitely in her 30s when "9 to 5" came out in the early 80s. Tim Allen is younger, and maybe that was one of the more challenging ones to recall.

Jane Fonda would have been eliminated by the freebie but they still would have been wrong.

It might be an age thing but i had no idea, i'm 25 and missed out on all but the last years of Bill's presidency. I couldn't even walk or talk yet.

So many times people don't use the freebie and get the answer wrong, such horrible strategy and overconfidence.

Jane Fonda 3. Susan Sarandon 4. Harrison ford I knew Tim Allen was wrong but never would’ve guessed Sally field and dolly parton man that was a tough one
