Ejay: If you go by boat the ship enters the Caldera and the cliffs rise up to around 800 ft in height. A spectacular view. There are donkeys or a lift to carry your luggage to the top of the cliff. May is a good time to go, not too hot or crowded and the wild flowers will be coming in to bloom.
