Wow, I really enjoyed that, truly an epic battle! Shows you how battles were won, and this was quite exciting to watch.
For any of y’all who don’t know, the background song, mainly heard in the intro, was “Battle Hymn of the Republic”, a civil war era piece written by Julia Ward Howe after a visit with union troops during the thick of war.

To have that many native germans wasnt actually uncommon amongst the union army. It even has been build up by a prussian named Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben and sometimes whole companies have spoken exclusively german.

20th NY and 52 NY were German Regiments. We took these regiments because of this. The 52 NY goes so far, that all thier in game names are historical correct (we in the 20th arent so strict, but the highes ranked officers are called after real persons as well). And there ist an officer called "von Steuben" in the 52. I'am not sie if this represented the same Person u are talking about, but i assume so.
5:10 one says: *caughs* "particulate matter!" and another says "the tree is my friend". :D
Fantastic effort by all players 👏 🙌 A brilliant watch! 👌
Seems like an accurate recreated battle taking place between 1861-1862...very sad and unfortunate command errors/confusion lead to union encirclement, followed by demoralizing route xD
How marvelous people standing in a line

There are Germans in the line! Makes me happy to hear.
I hope they add footprints especially in the muddy feilds. I would also like to see some ware and tear on the soldiers after the battle like dirt and smoke on their faces and clothes. I feel like that would add so much immersion and life to the soldiers. I hope this game gets the support it deserves as there is so much potential. Keep up the good work. I will be buying this ASAP.

Dell Two things going on there. One was that there WERE tons of Germans, massive numbers of them immigrated to the North in that time period (more Northerners are of German background than anything else) so they - actual first generation immigrants - were very heavily represented in the Union Army just as Irish were. The other thing is that modern Germans do have a large interest in the American Civil War, do both to a general interest in 1800s America (largely caused by their ethnic connections) and also because they have a taboo about celebrating their own military history, so they make up for it by focusing on other cultures. The US Civil War serves as a way for Germans to celebrate German military history without actually celebrating Germany.
What is the unit with the fez?
