Ty for this. I couldn’t find a good guide after I purchased it. I mostly figured out how to use it but this clears up some things for me.

Loved this type of video you could/should do more videos like this with all sorts of abilities not even so much codex abilities!! It could/would really help me understand the abilities and when/why I should/could use them..

It should be noted that if you are using an enhancement replenishment pot or adren renewal, you shouldn’t need to use 2 basics before your bleed Assault. If you don’t have mobile on your armor, the adren gain from Barge brings you to 46% without an Impacient proc. I usually Cleave then bleed assault if I get unlucky on an impacient proc but it’s usually not necessary. Good video overall, love gBarge and the massive burst damage it brings

As of November 21st, 2022. The issues with queuing Greater Barge have been resolved. Just bought GB the other day, and found this video while looking to optimize my use of it. Realized I hadn't been having any problems despite usually queuing it up, and discovered that it had coincidentally been patched a week prior. Thanks for the guide!

re: 2:12 this is useful at KK, especially on range phase, as it can bind you, and you may want to save freedom in case of phase swap to melee. Like you say, very situational, but that's at least the one spot I've seen it be useful

Barge has the same effect as freedom when used before green, as barge also allows you to bladed dive away when greened. And if you are rooted while KK digs, you can press barge to clear the bind even though you don't actually barge.

these little but impactful and clearly unintentional bugs not being fixed for years really irritates me about jagex. It's like they dont care

Literally just activated my greater barge codex and fumbling around with the ability. Talk about timing.

I just got greater barge on my 3rd ever ed2 run on my ironman- in a duo, no less. (Also got a SWH less than 24h beforehand.) My melee is insane now

A few additional pieces of information: -If you have bled an ability and then zerk, the hits that occur while zerk is active will be affected by zerk. -If you switch between weapons with different damages with an ability bled, the damage of the bled ability will reflect what you are currently wearing.

I thought that it reflected whatever you bled the weapon with? Which is why people will make sure to bleed assault with maul at places like Ambi or ed1 crystals? I could be wrong though, it would just be good to know for sure

@@mutt4983 the dmg are based off what u currently wear so swapping effects it yes. but the way the maul works (as far as i understand) is that it bleeding with the maul and swapping applies the mauls passive dmg % to ur current weapons also. giving u t92 dmg instead of t80 (base maul dmg) plus the mauls passive for the next hits. i might be wrong about this. but this is how i understand it from the wording in pvme discord.

@@PaintbaIl4Fun Ohhh I think that's it, I was just getting the reasoning confused about them bleeding with the mace. That would make sense that it still gives the style dps boost but it changes to the tier of your weapon. Thanks!

@@PaintbaIl4Fun yea its something weird where the maul busts the bleed so you need to swap it out for the bleed damage

Greater flurry is also very good to bleed whenever you are on a very fast dps time. Such as core at Solak because you get the full damage, you are going to hurricane and you can do the 2H assault trick to save a tick on it. Another little tip is you should barge with dual wield out and switch to zgs to spec because then you get a 2H auto out with the ZGS spec which can be some nice free damage.

Where do you barge flurry in solak before the core? The dps test aint much anyways so you could just leave the flurry on for it to hit aoe legs instead

@@HummusPvm You can bleed flurry on an arm depending on Zerk timer. I was mentioning that you bleed flurry on the core so can assualt, cane, and flank. The dps test is fairly challenging for a 1 cycle core.

@@dakotaroscoe3506 ive never bled flurry there anyways not on the core, not on the arms / legs either really because you dont even need the zerk off cd if you dont 1 cycle as it usually doesnt have much hp left anyways, so a coupla threshs will cut it for the 2nd run on core. And after that its the erruptions so zerk will be off cd for the next part of the phase regardless lol. However i do use a full flurry on both arms and legs just bc its fairly nice aoe damage.

Weird question but this might help me improve my ability rotation.... why are you prioritizing hurricane after you bleed ur assault in your zerk rotation? Isn't it better to Zerk -> adrenpot -> gbarge -> basic -> bleed assault with 2h -> swap to dw and do a regular destroy -> greater flurry (end of rotation) or if you dont have time for greater flurry just do a quake to finish it off but the destroy is definitly more damage than just hurricane no?

i found a very strong revo bar set up etc. kill time melee is 42 sec all revo!

2:35 If the target can be moved, you can kick/stomp it to force them back for more slaughter damage.

Sorry if i missed the explanation. but do you NEED to travel more than 1 tile to get the bleed after waiting 4.6sec ? or you can barge on place and still get the bonus bleed *provoke* icon still ?

You can get the buff when not moving, its just easier when you're not melee distance so you don't accidently auto attack

Is there a better way to target your opponent in order to get the buff at the start of a kill? I want to use this ability for slayer tasks where I’m constantly hopping around to different monster, and I want to get that buff for each kill

You can use target cycling, where you target the monster without having to click on them. But you'll still have to wait the 8 ticks to get the bleed buff

question, if i have to do the assault bleed before the zgs spec, will any of the assault hits gain the zgs spec's boost?

I think it would work, but the question is, why would you ever want to do this?

Wouldn't the "capped out" ability be between 125-225%?

I play on revo and always need to hit a boss once, anticipate, zerk then barge to be able to get the bleed effect. Does it work differently on manual?

You dont have to hit it first. You only have to click on it, selecting it as your target. Then you can zerk and barge + bleed

Why not bleed fury?

Very nice explanation a few unrelated things. The rotations you used are not great, you are dw and 2h switching so havoc and smash should never be used. In zerk do not use quake use assault destroy/hurricane and gflurry. Lastly you can zerk and Target cycle barge a lot earlier on vindy. While this is a guide for barge making sure you things like this can get people talking and asking questions. Like how are you attacking vind so early or why do you not use x ability

Gonna be honest, that stuff is mostly irrelevant to the goal of the video. This is not a Melee DPS Rotation guide, nor do I want it to be, and going over those things would bog down what I want to teach people and that's how to use barge effectively. The one piece of information I omitted because of simplicity that I regret is the DW barge before ZGS

@@WaswereRS understandable, but when there's a dedicated section for barging with zerk apot, sigil and mid kill there should at least be a proper rotation. A beginner learning about barge would be very likely to copy exactly what you do there. Not saying you have to explain the whole rotation just showing it. Just something to keep in mind

One thing i dont understand, 4,8sec no dmg till you can bleed assault yet you BARGE-GFURY-BLEED ASSAULT. How tf does this work. I have gbarge for 3 years, to this day i cant figure it out, nor havei tried much really but did a couple of times. I've seen multiple vids, for example a guy does ZERK-ADREN POT-BARGE-2 BASICS-BLEEDSS ASSAULT

It's 4.8s before you barge. Once you've barged you have 3 abilities to use assault/destroy/flurry. So a lot of people will barge -> decimate -> gfury -> bleed assault

@@WaswereRS surge, barge and adren pot doesn't itervene with bleeding effect does it? When i afk 5 sec at dummies it works but when i start a boss fight i get a regular assault. I start with surge-zerk-ring swap-adren-barge-fury-smash and get a regular assault

@@WaswereRS also skipped most regular stuff i do and did zerk-swap-adren-smash-fury and failed bleed. I noticed bleed doesnt work after smash at dummies.

So that was what was happening, i was queuing barge. damn thats dumb

Wait so if u barge then use a channeled ability, u can cancel that straight away and the damage from the entire channeled ability will go through?

great guide for IMO the biggest game-changer for melee Was, will watch again when I get the codex. also gz on the 31s vindicta pb am averaging 1:03 kills without any mutated abilities and camping scythe only (yes, I need to git gud and break these habits) ps. make this noob learn better deeps by donating a barge codex rsn EvilEvolves xoxo
