This Sarode player is the reason I started to learn the instrument. I saw her at the Jullander Festival in 1966 when she was around 22. It totally moved me to want to learn the Sarode. Thank you Smt Zareen you are great.

A genius artist in indian classical music with so soft strokes on the instrument like sarod which no other artist has can match. I am proud to mention that late Pandit Manohar Chimote, a genius solo Samwadini (Hormonium) player of India was the first 'GURU" of Baby Zareen since her age of 8 years who was my father as well.

This is Ali Akbar all the way. Not to take away anything from Smt Zarin's mastery. This is just a superb performance. Wish I can see a video of Smt. Zarin's concert. Bless her. I feel closeness to divine listening to her playing. I had bought a 45 RPM long play record (a unique special recording then) of Ali Akbar playing Chandranandan in 1966. The gat is identical. Ali Akbar did compose this raga and what a gift he left for us all music lovers.

I missed this over the years. Really nice performance. I always thought only Ali Akbar could handle this Raga but she has captured the mood of it.

Never heard this Raga before. Sounds like Jog and Kirwani put together. A great melody indeed! Beautifully played by Vidushi Zarin, a great performance. Tabla accompaniment is also very nice.

It's a creation of Ali Akbar Khan. It is close to JogKauns.

Beautiful ! Straight from heart to heart ! Why Zarine is not prominent on concert stage these days ?

Vidushi Zarin Daruwala passed away in 2014 at the age of 68. May she rest in peace.

As far as I know there have been only two great female Sarod players- Smt Zareen Daruwala and Smt Sharan Rani Mathur of Delhi. Thanksfor uploading videos of both.

wonderful taiyari. So clear and so precise and full of melody. Also she has a good sense of aesthetics. I was given to understand that she was one of Khan Sheb's students. The write up above does not mention his name at all. Do not hear her music of late.

A great performance in a difficult raga. We have not recognized her talent. Sad.

Chandranandan is the raaga created by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. I guess that she must have been under the guidance / teaching of the Great Ustadji for some time.
