Hello, everyone, this is Jamyang from Tibet Vista.
Maybe some of you already know the breaking news that from Jan 8 passengers arriving from abroad will no longer have to go into quarantine. Also, the visa arrangements for foreigners will be streamlined.
The easing border controls mean that inbound tourism will soon return to normal.
Meanwhile, the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple, and other famous tourist attractions in Tibet have gradually reopened to the public. Now, tourists from the main land of China can visit Tibet as before.
Before the peak season arrives, now it is time for you to plan your Tibet tour in 2023. Because Tibet tours are always popular among both domestic and overseas tourists, the earlier you book, the better price you could get.
And Don’t worry too much about Tibet Travel Permit. Once you confirm your travel itinerary and book your tour with us, we will apply for the permit on your behalf.
You just need to provide the scanned copy of your passport and your Chinese Visa.
April to October are all the best seasons to visit Tibet. You can visit the famous Potala Palace, experience the local market along Barkhor street, head to Mount Everest, or even go further to the wild western Tibet to Mount Kailash.

when it rains in Dharamsala , I always think about Tibet . I can see our family’s tibetan house, there are always a lot of happy laughs in it , behind the house is a snow mountain , before the house is a clear river . I left my home and came to India since many years ago . when I climbed over that snow mountain I was young , but can I climb the same snow mountain back to Tibet at now ? can I find the same way leading me to my home ? can I still recognize my home after so many years of separation? . when it rains in Dharamsala , I always heard a sound mixed in the raindrops . it seems so remote but still clear enough to listen . suddenly I understand it it’s the sound from Tibet calling me go home . ...... I stand up with a walking stick in my hand. open the door and walk into the rain. although I can’t see anything clearly through thick rain , as long as I follow that sound I definitely can go home . I keep walking . I fell in the mud but try to stand up , keep walking . I walk more and more slowly, can't walk anymore, only my soul keep moving forward with that sound . the rain stops , that sound disappeared, a rainbow appears in the sky . one side of the rainbow is Dharamsala , the other side of the rainbow is Tibet, I stand muddy under the rainbow with the walking stick, don’t know where to go . to a tibetan old dude who still lives in Dharamsala

You can and it's actually a thing. Visa will be a bit strenuous as they have special vetting procedure for oversea Tibetans to make sure that there's no political intensions during the visit. If you hadn't shown up in one of the many protests, you'll likely be fine.
Can Indians visit too. Can we book for kailash too.

Tourism from India in Tibet had been big before pandemic and I see no reason it won't resume in the near future.
Is it possible to travel freely without “ Government approved Guide?? Why can’t I just get Visa & Travel Freely on my own like any other countries I have traveled?? Y m I not allowed to Visit deeper into Tibetan areas?

Not possible. Ask your local Tibetan activists for the reason. But why bother, since we can meet magnificent local guides like Jamyang?

Wonderful news but… I’m not vaccinated.. so I doubt China will let me in Tibet 😢 my green pass that I’ve recovered from Covid will expire in February. Here In Europe I can travel with no restrictions. . It’s Sad, I wish to visit Tibet and tour specifically with your tour agency. 🙏

Currently they're requiring 48 hour negative tests only for all arrivals in China. No vaccine passport or anything. And I assume even that will be dropped in time as it's been downgraded from mandatory quarantine just weeks ago. So time your visit. I see no trouble at all in the near future - except Covid itself. Always take good care of yourself, especially with the altitude!

Why is Tibet still closed for Tibetans living outside Tibet? Despite 64 years of China's rule of Tibet, PRC does not appear to have the confidence to allow Tibetans from outside Tibet to visit their homeland and family members.
