It’s new plants time and I’m sharing all of the plants I’m most excited for here. Most independent garden centers will have at least some of these so check there first.

My son is a big lambs ear fan(he’s 5). He planted little lamb last year and it was gorgeous. We are in zone 7 and you’re right nothing bothered it even the heat. He gets a new lambs ear of some kind every spring/summer. Then he goes out and hugs it daily. I don’t know what it is about that plant but he just loves them.

Hey! I just moved to the Quad Cities, have a black thumb but have a yard just the size and think I can manage. I am old but can still learn new tricks. I like your style. In my old age, it’s my rules. If I want to paint a room purple or any other weird thing, fine by me. If folks don’t like my house or garden, they can walk on down the street. I am neat and nice, and at 70 would like to try a little gardening. So far in my yard I have grown some moles, two rabbits, and a huge pair of raccoons. So the sky is the limit. And I don’t like those brown stems on the Lillies either. Have fun, wish me luck. Life is too short to not have some fun. I may be old but refuse to grow up. Be Yourself.

Erin - thanks for sharing these new plants with us. I appreciate that you don't just talk about Proven Winners - my particular favorites from experience are First Editions, Monrovia, Southern Living Plants and Proven Winners. I've also had great success from just the big box store brands. New gardeners on strict budgets can be intimidated by the expense of some of these larger brands and think they can't produce beautiful gardens without them.

There's nothing like a "new" plant fix to warm up a cold mid-Winter day. The Agapanthus is a stunner, as well as the burgundy-leafed Hydrangea with deep pink/wine blooms. All of the silver plants were so beautiful as well. Let's just make it easy - I'll take one of each lol. Thanks for sharing Erin. Stay well.

I snagged the Eclipse in the fall of ‘23 through Home Depot’s site (the only place I could find online at the time!) and it was shipped to me in fantastic shape. I was very impressed with the foliage which is honestly why I got it- too much lime green foliage in the garden so I moved my Incrediball hydrangeas to another location for visual balance and put the Eclipse in their former homes. It was a cheat plant that I planned to plant against the house because at the time I was 4b, but with the new usda zone map I am now 5a. I can’t wait for this spring to see it bloom!

So I’m alone in my room, watching/listening as I’m cleaning. I turn my back and I hear a man’s voice not knowing it was the chef from the Muppets. Freaked me out! I’d see each plant, turn around to “work” and listened as you described each one. I think my favorite for my zone was the Cast Iron plant. I don’t think I’ve seen any Cast Irons in my area. This was great.

Being in a snowy, cold zone 4, now 5, planning for the new growing season is at the front of my mind, so I love this informative, timely video. Last season I got a Bon Fire Patio Peach. I was amazed that it actually produced delicious fruit that same fall. The blossoms covered the branches and were a soft pink. I planted pink hyacinths around the trunk in hopes of a spectacular show this coming spring. I planted it directly into my flower bed where it did exceptionally well, but I could see how it would be fabulous if potted. I really recommend this tree.

I’m really happy to lay my hands on a salvia already in 2022 season, called strawberry lake. One plant (not hardy here) with many seeds made 2023 years garden season with A LOT of plants. And this year I will have a lot too. It has light green, almost chartreuse leaves, dark red stems and calix and bright pink flowers. About 70-90cm and if you pinch them (and plant that too) you have a big bushy plant with lots of flowers. Cut them back and they will bloom again.

And I will focus more energy on draught tolerance!

My sweet potato vines last year really languished and struggled in the afternoon summer heat/drought. Ill try them in some shade. My bonfire patio peach gets hit HARD with japanese beetles. The tiny rock hard peaches leak this sticky hot glue looking nectar so its a big ant magnet. It is lovely though regardless!

Erin I'm on the shore in Maryland, I've grown Artemisia for yrs, no problem with it getting out of control. I've be looking for the Agapanthus, I've been bumped to 8a, so hopefully it'll love living here. Funny thing, I have one I don't remember the name that comes up every spring on the edge of my burn pile, as does a clematis from a friend. Those Hydrangea are also a must look out for. I think the PW Pink Cashmere Verbena is new this yr, it's also on my must have list. Thanks for putting this one together.

Thanks for sharing! I need to just divide plants this year since I have another addiction called horses so I must be careful but these look amazing and I will sure keep these in mind for the future! Thanks so much!

I've been looking forward to this video. Love looking at new plant introductions. I would love to find the Redemption Colocasia ps year. Also Rex Begonia Vine and Blue Grama Grass.

I’m going to be searching for that begonia! I am also excited for the new coneflower varieties, in particular Sunseekers Rainbow & Fresco Apricot.

Eclipse hydrangea is calling my name even though I’ve been burned by bud hardiness and swore I’d never buy another macrophylla. My house is white and that dark foliage would look amazing against it.

I really think the foliage is pretty enough to forgive it if some flowers are lost. It should put out some blooms on new wood later in the summer.

Love your choices. I’ve always wanted lambs ear but didn’t like the size. Can’t wait to try Little Lamb.

I can't tell you how much I thoroughly enjoy your videos! They're always very informative and entertaining & your excitement is contagious! I've tried several things because of your motivation! Thanks, Erin. One thing I'm hoping to do this year is grow a Belgian Fence Espalier. We've had the framework up for a few seasons, but I'd love to try with the Royal Rainbow Crabapple Whips like yours... It's growing in so beautifully! I've been keeping up with your updates since you planted them! Do you have any suggestions where I might find the whips? I live in Chester Count, PA. I'm thinking of asking Longwood Gardens for suggestions if I continue to be unsuccessful in finding them... Ugh! By the way, your eyes are beautiful - your shirt color made them stand out even more! Thanks, Erin! Take care! Linda B 😊👍☮️

Two things Erin-Thanks so much for this list, but also for your frequent glimpses into the way plants find their way to our nurseries. I’m definitely taking the list of Darwin Perennials’ suppliers (from their website) in my hand to my local nursery, and telling them-“look-you buy from Little Prince. Darwin supplies them. PLEASE try to order that centauruia Silver Swirl!” Second, will you do a seed haul video soon? A few years ago you turned me onto nicotiana alata lime green, and I’ve always had it in my garden since. Thanks to you, I’ve also tried purple bell vine, but we just are too dry for it here, nestled against the precipitation wall of the Eastern Sierra, in Northern Nevada.

Yes! It’s on the agenda. Actually I filmed the video, hated it, and decided to do it again better.

Fyi, we don't all watch "other" channels. I like you! Review The Proven Winners, maybe in a quick way...

Thank you for this beautiful list of plants to lust over! There are 4 on my list now: Silver Swirl dusty miller, the Sweetheart Mahogany sweet potatoe plant, Colocasia Redemption, and the Eclipse Hydrangea. I wanted the phlox until you said "deer magnet" as I am already at war with the deer here in my neighborhood. They think they own the place! :)

I saw Centaurea ragusina in a combination pot last year and have spent ten months wondering what it was and how to get it. Thank you for id’ing it for me. . . now the hunt will begin.
