I have long thought about going to the Rendezvous specifically to meet some of the folks I subscribe to (like you Logan), to do a factory tour, have fun, and add to my GEC collection by buying a few GEC's especially the Rendezvous knife. But when I learned of the ordeal of actually procuring one (overnight in line or no guarantee of getting one) and now of the inflated costs for the special knife plus the cost of airfare from out west, hotels, etc I've made the unfortunate decision that it is something I need to give up pursuing. I so understand your concerns and hope that you are able to continue to attend and report on the Rendezvous for many years. I always enjoy it.
Always enjoy talking with you at the rendezvous! Thanks for sharing this video and talking about your experience this time around. I enjoy hearing your take on things. It’s always good to see the GEC crew. I just don’t know if I have it in me to spend the night in line. Maybe one of these years.

You had the right idea stopping by Thursday and coming back Friday I'd say 👍
Logan, it was wonderful to meet you. Thanks for everything you do for the community and for keeping the numbering system going. I came in Thursday early evening and was number 37. The unofficial number allowed me to go back to my room and get warmer clothes without losing my spot. When I came back, I was the guy that brought tacos! This was my first rendezvous, and it was a wonderful experience all around. I’m not sure if I’ll camp out again, but that was still a fun aspect of the event as well. If you heard a car alarm go off in the middle of the night, that was me; I rolled over on my keys 😅 The picnic was also a grand time. You were certainly missed. I passed on the rendezvous specials, but walked away with five SFA’s, and a few other store knives. My favorites from the haul were the 77 in yellow jigged bone and the cattle knife in Ebony - beauties! Great video round up of your thoughts and experience as always. Like you, I would definitely recommend the rendezvous anyone that can make it.
Awesome meeting you and getting your feedback on my knives! I'm about to carry the rendezvous 81 to father's day lunch. Unbelievable stag on mine!

Nice!
Super cool video buddy. I love seeing about the Rendezvous cause I've never been able to go. Really cool 25 too. I'd give anything to get one of those cocobolo yankee Jack's or a 77 jigged bone barlow. Was Rick there on Wednesday?? I seen him post in discord, but not until Thursday at like 5am.

Thanks! Yep Rick got there Wednesday he was first.
If i want to join the BBC, does my barlow have to be a GEC?

Absolutely not! We accept Barlows of all kinds and origins
Where did you wrestle??

Just in high school in Western PA. I walked onto and made a college team but didn't wrestle.
Why can't or are they not willing to beef up manufacturing like Case?

Case is a big company owned by an even bigger company. From talking with the people at GEC it sounds like the biggest bottle neck is hiring and retaining employees.

@@KnifeThoughts Sounds like the business is run poorly and the consumer is paying for it. Absolutely no reason a pocket knife should cost more than $60. Their lack of production is what males their knives so expensive. If they have a high employee turn overs then quality is an issue too. How do you maintain quality if employees dont stay long enough to be good at their craft? High employee turn over rates are mainly because of low pay and very good benefits. What a mess. Charging so much for their product but can't keep their employees. Also sounds like they are located at a place where their might not be enough skilled quality people. Everything smells of poor management and no business skills. What is it about Pennsylvania that is so small minded? Harley Davidson was the same way. Demand for their product was very high too but they could not keep up with demand. Even after going public they still had trouble keeping up with demand. And just like picket knives shouldn't cost as much as a handgun, a motorcycle should not cost as much as a car.

It sounds like you should start a knife company! If you can make knives like GECs in America for

@@KnifeThoughts $60 is a lot of money for 3 inches of steel stamped out by machines. It is not like a black smith hammers and folds the steel for each individual knife like some great Samurai sword. And none of these traditional pocket knives from Case or GEC comes razor sharp, based on all the review videos I watch. These traditional pocket knives are all drug store Five and Dime / local hardware store knives that have been religated to a nitch market. And the fact that people hord and resell at a higher price in the secondary market taking advantage of GEC's lack of production capabilities shows its not a very honorable market. Who knows, maybe they are doing it on purpose to make their knives stay in high demand. I am sure if they were able to mass produce their knives like Case, it wouldn't be as sought after.

@@KnifeThoughts by the way. Can you do a comparison video of GEC, Case, and Rough Ryder knives where you do cut and usage test? I just want to see if GEC is really worth all the fuss. Don't get me wrong, I would be the first to pay $300 for a boys scout knife if its really a great blade.
