I kind of started liking Rosecraft traditional knives, however their blade grinds seem to be machine grinded and similar, or is it me? Would love to see different grinds & finishes on their blades a bit more ... Thank you for your content. 'George, Los Angeles.

As a muskrat, it's a little bit too thick for me. I thought improved muskrat meant it had two springs and a liner between the blades. Also, the muskrat with a warncliffe has been referred to before as a hawbaker.

Agree with previous comment - reminds me a lot of a “toothpick” pattern. I decided to buy one of these knives after seeing all of the hoopla about them. Mine arrived in excellent condition, with the usual good RCB fit/finish, and very sharp. All that said, I found myself unimpressed; I just didn’t like the “feel” of it. This one’s going into my sell/trade pile…

I’m a big fan of Civivi knives; own several of them. Hadn’t yet heard of this particular model, though, so I really appreciate your video review. I like the overall looks of this new one, but could do without the Damascus steel. Never have had a single problem with any of my Civivi knives - all excellent right out of the box. And yes, super sharp, too! Some other manufacturers could take some lessons from Civivi. My favorite overall so far has been the “Praxis”.

Don’t know why some people think CRK knives are drop shut-they have incredible tolerances and run on washers not bearings.

My last 3 Rosecrafts had covers that had shrunk bone and wood! You could see and feel the liners😕 its extremely disappointing when they have steadily increased their prices. I think it's based on Spanish knives or the toothpick

Dude completely misunderstood the purpose of this tool. It’s not intended to fix your nuclear reactor on your Ohio class submarine. It’s meant to get you out of a bind. And for that it’s pretty close to perfect. If you’re opening cans everyday, you need a proper can opener. If you’re a smoker, you carry a lighter, not a flint kit. For the size/price/tool set, you really can’t beat it. The only negative is, it lacks a large flat head screwdriver. Most people will grind down the tip of bottle opener to make a screwdriver. The tiny flat head included is just too small for the average screw.

The handle to blade length ratio looks bad. Even some of the Microtechs have a very long handle with a shorter blade. It's like 2/3s handle and 1/3 blade

@@KnifeThoughts My initial impressions are the Recon in hand lacks grip that the Shift has with the jimping on the bottom has. That is also true of the slide button. On deployment , because of the asymmetrical design, the steeper angle on the Recon launches easier, but retracting is harder. With sweaty, bloody or wet hands you are SOL. Shift unaffected. Both fire & retract with authority. I’ve only had on misfire with the Recon. Blade play more side to side with the Recon. About the same up & down. Pocket clip good on the Recon, excellent with the Shift. Recon has more rattle. They accidentally sent me the Shift with G-10 inlays. At first it was wait a minute, then on second thought it adds a nice extra design element and slightly extra girth and grippiness. Negatives: I agree with you with why didn’t they countersink the clip plate?? Overall both knives are excellent US-made OTF, but I would recommend the Shift with the better grip traction, next level 7-series aluminum body, nice stylish titanium clip and better pricing $$239 vs.$299.

Oh, one more detail. The SW Elmax drop point is nice, but the curved swedge line leading to the tip is off on one side. Shift blade, perfect.👍

Here's my idea I just thought I'd throw it out there for the first one who wants to take advantage of it, instead of a bottle opener put a can opener on it like the old school P4 can opener pry bar we'll see who's going to be the first one to put that one out that'll be a real seller❤❤❤

I've been running a Shootout for about a year and a half now. It gets regular use at work as my "assault box-cutter" Cardboard and tape are way harder on an edge than you'd expect but the CPM Cruwear blade has been incredibly resilient, as has the coating. So light weight. I do wish there was a better traction surface on the switch, though.

Those screws are awful. Why would they ruin the knife like that? At least counter sink them..And those clip screws🤯 WTF…. V2 is the winner. Such a sleek looking knife. If this V3 had nice flush screws, and an optional pocket clip tab with flush countersunk screws this knife would be a winner.

Here’s me wanting to send my single lug small Sebenza back from Australia at a ridiculous return shipping cost to get it double lugged! I’ve also got a small Insingo too but I had that sent straight from the retailer back to CRK and had it changed from single to double and prefer it. I guess it’s just personal preference and I can see how if you tend to grip it regularly as shown in the video you might prefer the single. When I get a large it will definitely be a double.

How hard can it be to have a check list for a well made knife? No blade rap; no proud tip; no gaps; center blade; check shield; check fit and finish. If this were a new company you might be forgiving for failing on some of these issues. But this is a well established company that is making the same mistakes over and over again. What does this say about their quality control department? I'd rather give my money to Rough Ryder or Rosecraft.

i hate great eastern cutlery. their knives are okay. they have a following. they are traditional knives in a mid steel priced reasonably…. if you can get them at all! you have to get on the waitlists with no clue as to what will drop or when and then the produce these small batches that sell out immediately and the only way to get the one you’re after is to find it on the secondary market for ten times the price. and so if you are a reseller these are gold because of the profit margin. you can get lucky on a years of waitlists or if you have all these dealers notify you when available and end up buying one at the listed price but usually if it’s something you want it costs ten times what they are selling it for. just go get a jack wolf knife because they are much better and you don’t have to pay the idiot tax or the tax for buying an american brand. look at all of the american brands and you’ll find better knives at a realistic price point out of china. like it’s one thing to be patriotic and buy american products but these companies are taking advantage of that in in the case of GEC they don’t even care to keep you informed or to knock down the reseller market or anything like that.

GEC makes its first Mini Trapper! That one looks fantastic. With you all the way about proud tips and blade rap - this is basic knife geometry and you expect it to be correct on any knife, let alone one at this level.
