This hike is located in D'Aguilar National Park in South East Queensland and is very accessible. It's perfect for people looking to try out hike-in camping for the first time, or anyone wanting to test out their gear without going too far. Just make sure you book via the Queensland National Parks website in advance, as there are only 3 individual sites available. Modest camping fees apply.

The hike starts about 1hrs drive from Brisbane, at the intersection of Mount Glorious and Lawnton Roads. There’s enough parking here for around five or six cars. It’s about a 5.3km hike to get to the camp site on mostly fire trail, with a small amount of narrow trail towards the end, and should take around 2 hours to complete. It does have some extended hills but is achievable with basic fitness.
A large junction not far from the campsite has a rain water tank, however this water is not potable. You need to take in all your own drinking water. From this junction follow England Creek Road for a short while until you get to a well sign posted smaller trail that breaks off to the left, this will take you the remainder of the way to the campsite.
The campsite is a basic bush camp with no facilities, so you’ll need to be totally self-sufficient, and please remember to pack out what you pack in. The camp has a communal fire place with large log seats. Don’t forget to check if fires are allowed before you head up there. Don’t count on having phone reception as it is very patchy in this area.
From the camp it’s about a 5 minute walk to the lookout, where you get a pretty cool view and is a great place to watch the sun go down.
This area is well known for its beautiful scenery only a short drive from Brisbane. It’s a great place to visit, especially if you just want to escape the hustle and bustle but you have limited time. It can also be used as a stopover camp for the England Creek Bush Camp.
I highly recommend this camp to anyone wanting to try out over-night hiking. It’s easily accessible, has a relatively short hike-in and has some great views. Just remember to take plenty of water and other essentials like insect repellent and a first aid kit.

You’ve gotta be careful in these areas because there has been a lot of yowie sightings and encounters And often most people would walk right past their structures and nobody would ever glance at them unless if you have a very good attention to detail what looks natural and what doesn’t
