I remember my mum was working 2 jobs back then, we had no money but she worked extra shifts to save some cash and she took me and my brother to watch Grease. We queued up (me and my brother in our "Starskey and Hutch" cardigans she had knitted us for our birthday) we had popcorn, cokes and hot dogs. Until later, I never realised the sacrifice she made for us two at that time, to give us a special night out as a family. We sat together and watched Grease and it's one of my most treasured memories. Cancer came for my Mum a short while after, I think she knew she was ill and the clock was ticking. Thanks Mum.x.

@@america1st721you are very lucky. I had watched it here on KZread only just recently, a year ago. Such an iconic movie. Great actors and singers as well, John Travolta, I love his blue eyes, and Olivia Newton John. Back in the 80s it was Michelle Pfeiffer who played Olivia's part, but I'm quite young to allow going on a movie theater then.

I was 11 when this came out and I remember how huge of a hit it was. Cultural icon, really. When I had kids, this song was on our road trip play list and always had everybody singing in the car. My daughters, both in college now, still have this on their playlist. Sad to hear of her passing and another reminder of how quickly the years go by.

I was there. 15 years old and she had me at hello. Catholic school boy meets Olivia Newton John via Grease. Did not know a woman could be made to be so beautiful. All the girls in high school or at least the ones that could pull it off without feeling like an outcast dressed like her in those black pants and that blonde hair. And I went to a Catholic high school with nuns and priests. Hey it was 1978 and they had just started allowing the girls to wear pants the year before. The one that did it flawlessly was M. Fuerst. She was a doppleganger for sure. Academically inclined, very pretty, with just the right hint of slut to her without making it too raunchy because you knew she was not putting out but she knew how to advertise without showing any flesh and still had a Catholic school pureness about her. She was our Olivia and she was nice too. R.I.H. You changed a generation.

This musical was perfection! The lyrics, the dance sequences, the performances were and still are so fun to watch. Of all the boy loves girl, girl loves boy movies where both are willing to do whatever it takes to get the other, this one stands as one of the best all-time classics. What human can't relate to this? We all go through those teen years where that one person captures your attention, interest and heart very quickly. To be young! You youngsters enjoy your youth, you're only young once!

I was actually in Hollywood in Monday the news was released around noon that she had passed away. (I live in Arkansas) So I drove my rental car to Whole Foods, bought a bouquet of pink & white tulips and drove to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I found her star and placed the flowers next to it. There were other fans there, 2 female reporters and many photographers. I just wanted to pay my respect to someone whose music and movies have made me smile through the years. RIP Sweet Olivia
