Executive Music Producer: Justin Tranter
Artist: Justin Tranter, Tricia Fukuhara, The Cast of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies
Track Title: "Brutal Honesty"
Episode: "You're Dropping Out of Rydell?" (S1, E9)
Video Director: Ruben Garcia
Video Producer: Paramount Television Studios
Video Editor: Paramount Television Studios
Lyrics:
How interesting
You’re sure it’s your time
The dangerous part of youth is thinking you’re in your prime
How interesting
You’re hitting the road
But let me tell you something, Crystal, darling, don’t go
My name's not Crystal
So? Fashion's meant to change the conversation
No, fashion's meant to change my life and save it
Slow down
You’re blistering my patience
Slow down
Brutal honesty, girl, that’s what you need
If you up and leave, you’ll lose everything
Stay where you can be the rise instead of the fall
Brutal honesty, tee hee hee hee hee
(Brutal honesty, tee hee hee hee hee)
How interesting
You think I should quit
That’s quite a proclamation for someone who don’t exist
Oh, NYC will E-A-T you, baby
So?
Sticking to your guns requires bravery
Hold out
Rydell needs your saving
And you still need your friends, baby
Brutal honesty, girl, that’s what you need
If you up and leave, you’ll lose everything
Stay where you can be the rise instead of the fall
Brutal honesty’s my middle name
Told all of my friends right to their face
What I think of them
And then did it again
It ended in disaster all the same
Ugh, before I transcend back to heaven or to hell
I need you to be brutally honest with yourself
Brutal honesty, damn, that’s what I need
If I up and leave, I’ll lose everything
Stay where you can be the rise instead of the fall
Brutal honesty
Tee hee hee hee hee
(Brutal honesty
Tee hee hee hee hee)
Brutal honesty
Tee hee hee hee hee
(Brutal honesty
Tee hee hee hee hee)
You are the fantasy
My darling, darling Nancy
Good luck to you
And don’t…die

He is magnificent, and I want to see him again in this series! The whole cast is so good. This series seems better than the original musical with such talent of acting, singing, set designs, dancing, and wardrobe. Each character has depth, the stories are used as parallels for several of today's social issues, and the songs can make you laugh, cry, or simply dance.

@@bbcr11 Cher sang in the 50s or 60s didn't she? In her duo band called Sonny and Cher and the makeup on the teen angel looks a lot like David Bowie's look from the 70s or 80s. Those are just some things I observed. It might not have anything to do with the 50s genre but it seems like the Creators really wanted to put those details into the teen angel character. Anyway though, the song sounds like it comes from the 50s.

I was told that when I was three, I used to watch Grease over and over and over (it was how I learned how to rewind VHS tapes). Growing up, Beauty School Dropout was my favorite song, so I LOVE the homage here. I saw this thumbnail before I watched the episode and immediately dropped everything to watch it. Also I love the unintended(?) lore that it's the Frosty Palace's power to somehow connect people to their guardian angel (devil? Tee hee hee hee hee!).

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAS FOR THE GUARDIAN ANGELS FOR THE OTHERS HERE! I know we can't get a guardian angel for EVERY character in this show when it gets given a new home and continues (for no other reason than the fact that Frenchy was the only one in the original movie to get an angel), but doesn't mean we as fans can't imagine an angel for the rest of the characters. These are mine so far: For Olivia: The Angel of Literature - a Marilyn Monroe look-alike with glasses sitting on a throne of books - since I think Marilyn Monroe was her inspiration in the first episode at the drive-in who inspired Olivia to own her sexuality to triumph over the rumours spreading about her rather than trying to hide from them, and since in spite of the 'dumb blonde' image some people have about her Marilyn was actually a very well-read woman with over 400 books in her personal library. For Susan: Either Penelope Pitstop (though I know she's form the late 60s rather than the mid 50s) or a version of herself still with perfect hair, nails, skin and make-up but with a more mature hairstyle and in full car racing gear (can't decide if she'd be more a Nascar racing type or a Grand Prix racing type), confident and happy in a way that she isn't just yet, telling her that she's a possibility of what she could be if she reached for what she wanted than what others wanted for her, posing with her car. For Dot: not so much an angel or more the spirit of one of her departed pet rabbits or one of her departed fish (taking a break from haunting whoever peed in the fountain and killed it) appearing before her reminding her that her dad calls her a princess and telling her not to be afraid to reach for the crown that she deserves. Other non-confirmed ideas I have are the Angel of Rock and Roll and the Angel of the Theatre. The Angel of Rock and Roll I can see appearing (since boys need a guardian angel as much as girls) before Buddy, Richie or maybe Frankie Zucko, though I'm leaning mostly towards Buddy to help him figure out what he wants in life. Just can't decide if the Angel of Rock and Roll would be more an Elvis look-alike, a Little Richard look-alike or a Sister Rosetta Tharpe look-alike (since she is the recognised grandmother of Rock and Roll). Either way I want to see someone play Little Richard's 'Tutti Frutti' either at the Frosty Palace or over the speakers at Rydell so that we can see the origins of 'A whop-bap-aloma, ba-lop bam boom!' with the Rydell students (and for them all to start screaming dancing crazily, Socs, T-Birds and Pink Ladies alike). The Angle of Theatre I have a half-vision of being Julie Andrews in one of her Victor/Victoria outfits, or at least a Julie Andrews look-alike in a Victor/Victoria outfit. Can't decide if she should appear before Lydia, Cynthia or Shy-Guy, though right now I'm leaning towards Shy-Guy. Haven't decided who the Guardian Angel for everyone else is (Gil, Potato, Jane, Wally), I might be able to think of something in time. Who else has ideas? And while we're here, who do you think would be the guardian angel for the Pink Ladies and T-Birds from the original movie?
