Great Job Palki! You see, most of the times, we confuse/label COMFORT and CONVINIENCE with/as HAPPINESS, but in real life COMFORT, CONVINIENCE and HAPPINESS, all have different meanings. If buying a Mercedes or a Penthouse makes one Happy, then he/she would never experience Sadness in his/her life, come what may....but we all know, that's not the case! We can't buy Happiness, we should know How to be Happy!

Here there are 2 dimensions 1)being a consumer 2)addicting to consumerism. Does consumerism increase happiness? We really have better options. May be living in consonance with nature, maintaining human relations, well controlled economics, being positive minded, selfless service.

Wow, all of this makes sense to me. Whenever I order something from Amazon and I see the Amazon truck coming down the street I laugh and think to myself, “Christmas in July.” During the holiday season seeing the brown UPS truck coming down the street triggers the same feeling. I often say UPS should decorate their brown trucks with huge red bows during the holidays because the trucks bring so much joy that time of the year. Lol. 🤣

Don't let your purchases define your self worth.. Wow.. Amazing point.. I feel so many people do shopping only to fill the void that's it.. Or to make them happy.. From Personal experience, things can't make us happy seriously.. More and more things can't make us more and more happy.. We have to try to be happy on own and should definitely buy consciously.. ❤❤❤

Some people shop just to shop, most things they buy are things they never wear that stay in bags or pile up in a room with tags still on. This then leads to another issue called hoarding. Can also cause family issues like divorce and self isolation. It was sad working in Salvation Army thrift store when a families would bring in the remainder of their deceased mothers estates. They would bring in so much clothes some decades old with tags still on belonging to stores that have long gone out of business. Most of it would be so old and dust covered moth eaten we could not even sell. we had to accept it tho, we did give some of it to local printing factories to use as scrap rags.

Yes browsing and choosing and not buying does make you feel good! Ultimately money has absolutely no value unless you spend it. Rule - spend less than you make. Research also indicates that shopping with cash hurts more than shopping with a card. Shopping is akin to using a poker machine - addictive. Love love love your alternates - exercise - aromatherapy - but my best solution - play some beautiful music! Thanks once again for your very pragmatic journalism. Your light makes a positive impact on the planet!

I'm a middle class person, yes it's true some time it's like therapy and some times it's become necessity to purchase your required things. To avoid purchases I simply become lazy instead of spending money on something 🤣. It's fine if you buy non-branded clothes after all you have to live, you have your responsibilities, it's ok.. or save money and buy later which is really necessary that having high range. Focus on your taste bud it's really tells what to eat.... 😁 Yes some time to overcome your sadness I cut my hair to change my mood but this time I didn't cut my hair I think I'm controlling my emotions 😊. But still My wish to collects things like beautiful jar, bells, incense...... I'll do painting but later 🤣 after some saving I'm ready.. 😁 that smile will be pleasant ☺️ I'm ok to wait.

Lol this is a scientific study and it applies on both men and women. Statistically men spend way more than women in material things. Ofcourse they spend more on vehicles and games but ultimately they still spend. My mom oftain used to scold my father for unnecessary spendings. Women spend more time in selecting products so it looks like they spend more

Well I went nuts and purchased like crazy. (I have a high income and it does not affect me). The thing is that my buying stuff online automatically tapered off. I think what happened was that there was nothing that was left to buy that I desired on a day to day basis. I think that might be the case with a lot of other people as well. If you are spending days and night thinking/wanting to get something, you will always have an urge to shop. But if you go wild and satisfy your urges then weirdly all the urges stop.
