The older I get, pushing 74, the more I view this song as one of the pure masterpieces of Garcia and Hunter. The Warlocks appeared on my mind in the summer of 1965 as band with a guy playing an electric guitar like a banjo. For thirty years they promoted adventure and freedom. God bless The Grateful Dead.

I’ve worked for the railroad for 18 years in train service. Many a long night Terrapin rang in my head. Saw it, smelled it, lived it on the high iron. Every type of day, time, weather and beyond.

OMG I’m THERE, I’m FEELING THIS💕❣️💙LOVE THEM LIVE DEAD SHOWS⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ Missing you Jerry, but I can still hear you and feel you like your right HERE, RIGHT NOW 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I wouldn't start hearing these songs live for almost another year. First Dead show was 5-6-78 at the University of Vermont. I was there when they played this at the last Winterland show on New Year's Eve and I was at Brent's first show when they played in San Jose. Just got my Terrapin t-shirt in the mail today. Back in Terrapin for good or ill again.
My favorite GD song! I had a dream one evening of Jerry as a white haired old man. He was outside by himself through a sliding glass door on a slab of concrete in a chair he sat and his manner was as if he was waiting for someone to find him there. He smiled and spoke. I awoke and I’ve never forgotten that dream. U are a vision. Ty

In Dec 79 I was at their KC shows. Standing about 10 people back from the stage. I was already in that other universe, staring at Jerry. The thought formed in my head "what makes that cat so freaking cool", when he looked directly in my eyes and sang "I know a little something that you'll never know "!!! It shook my so much I had to go sit in the bleachers for a couple songs to get it back together. Jerry was indeed a king of the merry pranksters.

Probably the best live recording I have ever heard of the Dead. Unfortunately the GD never toured Australia, but I was fortunate enough to see them at Alexandra Palace during the couple of years I spent in the UK in the early 1970s. Fantastic concert!

@@JusCuz410 I only went to the Saturday show (which I think might have been the 9th) and it was amazing. People were wandering around with plates laden with joints which were doled out to anyone who wanted one (Ah! The days when smoking was allowed in places of entertainment ha ha). After a fabulous concert, I had to walk home to the share house I shared in North Wembley. I had only been in London for a couple of years and it was the first time I'd been to Alexandra Palace or the suburb it is in, but I was so high I got there easily operating on some kind of inbuilt radar. 😆
So much to listen to in this but - Bobby’s rhythm guitar in Terrapin is just perfect. The glue.

Since YT "suggested" this to me, it's pretty much all I listen to, at work, over and over and over. Terrapin is gorgeous, Eyes is really great, Phil is really thumpin' in Estimated, Not Fade goes on and on and GDTRFB is absolutely rippin'. Thanks mucho for this.

First thought as you pass through 74, continue on my friend, now that we know about timeless. Terrapin, the train is always on time to the station and the brakes are smokin', when the engineer, (or the monkey) sees one of us sees us waitin' at the station. I sure do know, things I never knew, now are familiar. I love the word familiar. Don't you? Stranger stopping stranger, just to shake your hand. Peace

Some are born to keep on trucking seriously not hardwired to go stagnant too long. Be aleways questioning, curious learn and see all you can go anywhere you haven't already or always said you would one day or id like to. Dont slave living only to work 44% Americans pay goes to a damn roof in same place and scene ..most not owning. Travel light see more faster and cheaper than a heavy load slowly . Leave light .

What a jam! Wow.
Great recording. I personally like the tempo slowed down just a bit. Must have been a snowstorm backstage before the set.
